60 Chance
Wooyoung smiles as he sees the arched entrance to Estar, that finally, after what feels like a long time, he's returning back here. He dramatically extends his arms, letting out a cloud of smoke before sniffing in the cold air. He smiles with his eyes closed, ignoring the others who are looking at him while shaking their heads.
"Is he..." Sara starts, "...okay?"
"I have no idea," San deadpans. "But there's only one that could make him be that dramatic. Girls."
Sara looks at San over his shoulder, blinking at him. "Girls?"
San nods as he sighs. "He's the kind of guy an innocent girl like you should absolutely steer clear off." He shrugs, "But I heard that he changed though."
"I told you," Wooyoung finally says as he turns around, "you don't have to follow me here. I'm going to meet a valuable person. You can go ahead to Lucida first. I'll return," he winks, "no worries."
"We were actually thinking of getting some rest first," Mingi utters as Yeosang behind him nods. "So we'll follow you into Estar."
Wooyoung sticks out his lower lip, before he shrugs. "Fine, you can do anything in Estar, then we can meet up again. I have to be alone with that person, so I don't want anyone disturbing us."
Hongjoong snickers. "You're going to a pub? Picking up more girls?"
Wooyoung does a dramatic gasp as he shakes his head. "Absolutely not. I have repented from my ways and I am now on the track for some true love." He grins.
Mingi rolls his eyes as Yeosang slaps his own forehead.
"Do people really become that dramatic once they fall in love?" Mingi says as he shakes his head. "Do whatever you think is right for you, Jung Wooyoung. Just don't go knocking up someone's daughter."
Wooyoung shakes his head before winking. "I'm not that man anymore. Shall we?" He gestures towards the arched entrance, already getting ready his identification card as if he's expecting a special treatment like they did that day when he went with Akira. He only sighs as the guards grant him entry without any more special treatment. Looks like he'll have to go to the palace on his own.
"Oh wait," Sara says, pulling San's shirt.
"Why?" San looks over his shoulder. "Is there something wrong?"
"I don't have an identification card, so they won't grant me entry." She grins, "See you a little bit further than the arched entrance of Estar."
"Wait, Sara-" he says, but chuckles as she's simply gone with the wind, most likely already sneaking past the guards and has already been inside.
They produce their identification cards one by one, being granted entry easily before San spots Sara waving to them as she jumps up and down. San maneuvers his horse over to her, offering her a hand as she gladly accepts it, climbing up before holding onto him.
"What are you guys planning to do?" Wooyoung asks, seeing that night is almost falling. For sure, they'll have to spend a night here, considering that they're planning to continue their journey to Lucida after.
"We'll find some place to crash first," Hongjoong says, "but maybe we'll visit the night market first. Just look around at what they have."
"Sounds good," Wooyoung says before his mouth twists; would it even be appropriate for him to be visiting the palace now that night is approaching, just to see Suria? "You guys can visit the night market first, I'll decide on where I'd like to go. If anything, we'll meet again here tomorrow at... 9 in the morning? So that we can continue with our journey to Lucida. If I don't show up after half an hour, you can go ahead without me. I don't know how long I'll be staying here."
Mingi shrugs before giving a thumbs-up, and the rest follow his horse in the direction of the night market. As Sara passes by Wooyoung who's only sitting idly, she reaches out a hand to tap his shoulder.
Wooyoung looks at her quizzically, but breaks into a smile as she gives a thumbs-up while mentioning "Good luck!" to him. He nods as a sign of thank you; it is as if she can hear his heartbeat which has increased because he's worried - worried that his presence might not be wanted anymore.
"I wanted her to wait for me," Wooyoung mutters to himself. "And I came back. She should be there, right?"
Taking a deep breath, he grabs the reins of his horse as he intends to head directly to the palace, although in his mind he's already thinking of what he could say so that he would be granted entry. Mind wandering somewhere else, he doesn't notice someone running towards his direction from his left, chased by someone.
He holds on to the reins rightly as his horse rears its front legs back, shocked by the person who suddenly runs past in front of him. He almost falls off his horse as he shouts a "Yah, are you not looking at where you're going?!"
"A thief, catch the thief!" someone shouts and Wooyoung only realizes that the person who had just ran in front of him was being chased by someone. The chaser seems to have already run out of breath, so without hesitation Wooyoung changes the direction of his horse, immediately speeding towards the thief.
As soon as he sees that the thief has turned a corner, going into a narrower alley, Wooyoung sighs in frustration before jumping off his horse as he runs towards the direction of the thief. He was just thinking about the princess, but now his body is automatically reacting towards the call for help to catch the thief. He manages to corner the thief as he meets a dead end, the wall too high for him to climb up without a leverage.
Taking a breath, Wooyoung bends over as he puts a hand on his hips before beckoning to the thief with his other hand. "Yah, hand it over. You have nowhere to run now; you better hurry cause I need to see someone. You're already taking too much of my time."
The thief snickers as he throws a bag full of gold on the ground, but as Wooyoung's attention is momentarily distracted by it, he produces a folding knife and blindly slashes the air in front, trying to scare the latter.
Wooyoung clicks his tongue as he looks at him with a dissatisfied look. "In a cold weather like this, when snow might fall again anytime soon, you should be cuddling with your loved ones. Not blindly slashing a knife after you stole something." He grumbles before breaking into a stance, the only weapon he has his fists as he realizes that he had left his sword and bow with Hongjoong after they went back from Ileara. "I apologize beforehand if I'm a bit sluggish today," he utters before he beckons him over. "Show me what you got."
The thief shouts as he lunges forward, aiming for Wooyoung's face first as the latter cries out in dissatisfaction when he avoids the attack.
"Why on earth would people always aim for the face?" Wooyoung whines as he sidesteps him, lightly jumping up before twisting his body, landing a kick on the thief's back as the latter falls forward.
The knife slips out of the thief's hand, but he doesn't stop as he turns around, grabbing Wooyoung's legs, who's only about to pick up the stolen gold. He then forcefully drags the other down, slamming him onto the ground.
Wooyoung shouts out in pain as he lands on his side, gritting his teeth as he feels a wound opening near his temple. "You-" He watches as the thief grabs the knife again, but when he's about to bring down the knife again near Wooyoung's torso, the thief receives an arrow lodged to his shoulder so he immediately stops advancing, knife dropping to the ground.
Wooyoung looks to the source of the arrows as another arrow pierces the thief's left leg to make sure that he won't be able to run away. He squints his eyes to see someone standing on the rooftop, their robe billowing in the night air. He looks impressed, and is about to say thank you to his saviour before he takes a closer look.
"Suria, it's you," Wooyoung says under his breath.
Suria stores her bow on her back, jumping off the rooftop as she grabs on a ledge, slowly lowering herself down until her feet touch the ground. She looks at the thief first, to make sure that he won't be running away. When she can hear that the soldiers are coming to where they are, she quickly pulls Wooyoung to hide behind a dumpster so that they won't be seen.
Wooyoung starts to say something as they crouch behind the dumpster, but gets silenced.
"Shh," Suria puts a finger to her lips as her other hand is gripping his arm.
Quietly, both of them watch from behind the dumpster as the soldiers arrive to where the thief is, looking puzzled on how he could have two arrows lodged inside him. They bring the thief away, who's resisting as he says that he's not guilty, before picking the stolen gold up and leaving the alley, not even suspecting that there are two others there.
Only when she's sure that the soldiers have left does she take a deeper breath before she stands up, Wooyoung following suit.
"Suria," Wooyoung beams as he finally sees her face under the low light. "Why did we-" he points a finger to the dumpster, "-hide behind the dumpster?"
Suria looks at him, as if only realizing who he was. "Wooyoung," she says, a bit surprised. "I- I didn't know it was you."
He pretends to sulk, crossing his arms. "You should have spotted this handsome face a miles away. But you still didn't tell me why we're hiding."
"Well," she gestures towards her bow, "it's not really appropriate for a princess to be jumping roofs and shooting thieves, but I enjoy it. Doesn't mean that people really approve it though, so I usually have to hide my face," she chuckles, "well, more than usual."
His eyes twinkle as he comments, "You were really cool though, and you saved me."
She looks away, tugging at her robe as she mumbles, "That was nothing." But when she turns to look at him again, she realizes how he has an open wound near his temple. Instinctively, her hands fly to his temple, coming up with blue blood on her fingers. "You're bleeding; you'll need to be treated. I'll bring you to the palace to get treated."
He looks troubled as he slightly squirms. "I don't really want to... trouble you."
"But you're hurt," she says seriously.
"I'll just go to a nearby clinic," he utters as he chuckles awkwardly, "My appearance is always bad when I meet you. Last time I was full of slime and now my head is almost split open."
She looks down and smiles. "But you look great nonetheless."
"Ah," he breathes, "flattery. You're looking amazing too, princess. As always."
She laughs, this time around more accepting of his words as she tilts her head to look at him, secretly glad that he really did come back to Estar. "Did you come here because of-" She doesn't say it out loud as she still feels that it's surreal to even have anyone doing anything because of her.
"I came back for you," he says smoothly. "I promised you, and I'm done with what I was supposed to do."
They walk out of the alley, with Wooyoung subtly glancing at her every time, up to where he found his horse. He brushes a hand over its mane as he looks at her, wanting to offer her a ride, but she only shakes her head, saying that she came by foot and would like to do the same going back to the palace.
Wooyoung shrugs, so he doesn't heave himself up before he starts pulling the reins, both of them walking towards the direction of the palace. He looks at her, uttering, "Do you always do that in your free time? You know, cool stuff like chasing down bad guys and shooting them with arrows?"
She shakes her head as she hums. "Well, I'm more comfortable with archery and I go hunting from time to time. It just so happened that I heard that there was a thief on the loose, but then we ran into each other." She looks at him from the corner of her eyes. "I didn't expect you to come."
He lightly gasps. "You really thought I wouldn't keep my promise?"
"I mean..." she trails off as she wrings her hands. "They always do. You know, leave after they see me. So-" She takes a deep breath, "To be honest, my parents tried setting me up with the princes from Fyrae, but you know," she chuckles painfully, "of course they refused. So naturally I just thought that you were just- playing around. That's what they did anyway, they said they would come but never did. Days passed by so I thought that maybe you changed your mind."
"Ah," he lets out a sigh of frustration. "How can jerks like that become princes? Just because they have white blood. Suria," he says seriously, "those jerks don't deserve you."
She sniffs, letting out a deep breath as she shakes her head. "It's an old story anyway. My parents were looking for an arranged marriage for me," she looks embarrassed, "because you know, people don't just naturally like me."
He remains quiet, obviously always troubled whenever Suria talks about the way people treat her because of her appearance. He knows that he's the type to be prioritizing his own appearance. He realizes both of them are opposites, not to mention that they are of different ranks. Subconsciously, he looks into the distance as he thinks about how they haven't had anything in common.
"Thank you," Suria speaks up again, bringing his attention back to her. "Even though it's probably a small gesture to you, it means a lot to me. You know, to have people coming back for me."
"Of course," Wooyoung says, his eyes training on the palace building that is coming closer to them. "I promised you, and I can't keep a beautiful girl waiting."
She only smiles as she looks at the ground, while he looks worried the closer the palace gets. She doesn't notice how he seems hesitant to be walking into the palace, but before they approach the entrance, he lightly pulls her arm, stopping her in his tracks.
"What's wrong?" Suria asks as her eyebrows knit, realizing that he looks troubled.
"I think that," Wooyoung takes a deep breath, "your parents wouldn't-" he flits his eyes towards the palace, "-Their Majesties wouldn't approve of me. I'm just a commoner."
She only looks at him with an unreadable expression, before she sighs. "Let's get you treated first. Is that why you're so worried?" She frowns, subconsciously tugging at her eye patch.
"You're their princess, and I'm sure they'd want someone with white blood too."
She scoffs before pulling his hand, prompting him to walk again towards the direction of the palace and under the arched entrance.
The guards immediately bow to Suria, even though there's a slight confused expression as they see the princess bringing together another man. Not to mention that the princess has never returned to the palace bringing a man with her, but she has also never held hands with one. The guards secretly exchange glances with each other before returning to their positions.
Suria sends Wooyoung's horse away to the stables before she pulls his hand again to bring him inside the palace. Where every palace occupant seems to stop and stare at the fact that both of them are holding hands, the princess merely ignores them before she brings him to a room where she takes out a first aid kit. She motions for him to sit down before she sits next to him and opens up the first aid kit.
"Don't ask me the obvious question on why I'm the one tending to you instead of the palace doctor," she says.
He pretends to be shy as he giggles. When Suria only stares at him as if he has suddenly changed into a monster, he presses his lips shut. He scoots over to her, showing the wound to her so that she can tend to it. He grins; rather than feeling hurt because of the wound, he feels how the princess is carefully working her way around the cut so that she won't hurt him too much.
Suria dabs antiseptic on his wound, her eye occasionally flicking towards Wooyoung. Even as she's focusing on the wound, she can't help but have her eye falls to his face, where there's a small smile playing on his lips as she touches his face. When she's done applying the bandage, she pulls away, but her focus shifts fully to him who's staring at her instinctively. Heat rising to her cheeks, she lightly pats his cheek, and this seems to bring him back to reality.
He chuckles, embarrassed that she must have started to think that he's back to his old ways, before he quickly clarifies. "I won't- I'm not that kind of person anymore."
She glances at him before looking down to tidy up the first aid kit and store it away. "I didn't say anything."
"I think if you- want to, you know, be with someone like me... I don't think your parents will ever approve it."
She snickers. "Why? Is that your way of saying that it was a mistake for you to ask me to wait?"
"Suria," he utters. "That's not what I meant. I'm sure that your parents would want someone of white blood, but I'm just a-" he breathes in, "-commoner."
"How do you know what my parents think?" She stands up, heading for the door. "Join us for dinner, and then you can see what my parents think of you." She smiles, "They're back from their trip, so you can come down in 5 minutes to the dining hall."
"Suria-" he says, panic starting to rise as he feels like it's moving too fast. He's doubting about his own position yet now he's about to eat with Suria's parents- the king and queen of Estar? I'm just a commoner.
"Come down for dinner," she says simply, oblivious to the panic evident on Wooyoung's face.
After she goes out of the room, he immediately looks down at his own clothes, heavily aware of his appearance. Not to mention that Estar is the richest kingdom out of all, that even their servants dress better than commoners in other kingdoms, so to have dinner with the rulers of the kingdom themselves? He'll surely look out of place.
He immediately jumps into the bathroom, fixing what he can as he's suddenly nervous thinking about the fact that he's about to meet Suria's parents face to face. Sure, they've visited Nyla before and he has made conversation with them, but to come forward to them and say that he's looking to tackle their youngest daughter? That sounds like something that'd cost him his head.
If before, he has confidence in his appearance that he walks with his head up high, but this time around as he walks towards the dining hall, he keeps his head down, as if humbled by the fact that he's merely a commoner from Nyla. Based on his memory before, he manages to locate the dining hall, the doors pushed open for him and he immediately bows. He keeps his head down as he tries to glance at how many people there are in the hall; one, two... up until six. That means all of their princesses are here, together with the king and queen.
His heart beats in his chest that he gets startled when the king gestures over to a seat beside Suria, inviting him to sit. He bows his head once, walking over towards the chair as he knows that all of the princesses have their eyes on him. When he does push his chair in, he risks a glance to the rulers, before the king smiles at him.
"Say, it's been a long time since we've visited your kingdom," the king starts, nodding to the server who has placed his dinner in front of him as a sign of thank you. "How are all of you doing... the young masters?"
Wooyoung can feel the tremor in his voice as he replies, "We're all doing fine, thank you for asking, Your Majesty."
He lifts his head up as he hears laughter from the king, before the queen beside him joins along. The king shakes his head as he utters, "Why are you so tense? We've talked before, and you gave us the best hospitality while we were in Nyla."
"Ah..." Wooyoung remains speechless as he glances at Suria. Still, the princess isn't looking at him but merely at her food; like before, she's the only one with a hood on in the dining hall. He clears his throat as he forces a smile; he can't be telling the king that the reason he came here was for his daughter now, can he? "It's just that I haven't seen both of Your Majesties in a long time, I do feel a little bit awkward."
The queen chuckles as she pops a chunk of salmon into her mouth and chews it. As she swallows it, it feels like Wooyoung would fall off his chair right at that moment as he hears her say, "Isn't it because you came to see our youngest daughter?"
Wooyoung accidentally coughs as he looks for water, and he sees from the corner of his eyes Suria pushing a glass of water towards him subtly. He grabs it, gulping it down as he thinks that this is it, off with my head for trying to woo a princess.
"I- uh..." Wooyoung starts to say, glancing at each and every one of them as their eyes are directed to him. Only Suria is calmly eating her dinner, as if she's not pulled together in this mess.
"I saw them holding hands," their second daughter, Awan, offers. "From the palace entrance and into the building. They didn't let go of each other."
Their third daughter, Bintang nods vigorously as she cups her own face, beaming. "It's my first time seeing Suria so comfortable with a man."
Bulan doesn't offer anything, merely looking at Suria then to Wooyoung, before sighing then turning her attention to her dinner. She's too uninterested to be involved with her sister's love story, when she knows that she's already lost hers with the nobleman from Nyla who's already married.
"I just-" Wooyoung tries to say again, but he doesn't know whether it'd only sound like an excuse, or that they'd catch up on his sincere attention. Not to mention that there must already be rumours about his past reputation, and he knows that he's not the kind of guy they'd want to be near their daughter. "I think that Suria deserves a man who treats her well."
The king blinks, putting down his utensils before he lets out a deep breath. He smiles, but the young man can't determine the meaning behind it. "Are you saying that you are someone who can treat my daughter well?"
Wooyoung opens up his mouth, but closes it back as he realizes that he's about to give a promise that he's scared he'll break. He looks at Suria, but as he's about to speak up, she beats it to him first.
"I like him," Suria utters. "He's honest and he doesn't beat around the bush about his intentions. Also one of the few people to ever look me in the eyes while talking to me for the first time. He made a promise to come back and he did, so if you'd give him a chance."
The queen looks at her youngest daughter, interlacing her fingers on her lap as she turns to look at Wooyoung. She addresses Suria, "Young love is always exciting, and although there might be times that you'll be hurt, we have no say in what you want to do. You're already our big girl, Suria."
Wooyoung's posture visibly relaxes as it seems that the start of their relationship has been approved by her parents, but he turns sheepish when her sisters scrutinize him, as if trying to evaluate him before they let their youngest sister go to him.
Awan narrows her eyes, but after a while she shrugs as she says, "As long as Suria's happy, I'm fine with it."
Bintang is the next person to be excitedly clapping her hands, citing, "I agree. Suria would look great together with him." She gives a thumbs-up to Wooyoung, "You're handsome."
Wooyoung chuckles, scratching his head as there's a sudden rush of compliments from the others. "Thank you."
The dinner goes on smoothly as Wooyoung starts to become more comfortable at the dining table, going as far as cracking jokes that manage to make all of them laugh, the king the hardest as he has to stop eating as he puts a hand over his mouth. Everyone treats him no different, and even when Suria is shyly glancing at him with a smile on her face, he smiles back at her.
As dinner is finished the king and queen excuse themselves before the daughters follow suit, Bintang and Awan giving approving nods to the two. Bulan stays back for a while, before she calls over Suria to talk to her. Seeing this, Wooyoung takes the hint before excusing himself to the kitchen, helping the maids to clear up the table.
"Suria," Bulan says, fixing her glasses before she gazes at her younger sister, "I'm sorry for what I said about Wooyoung that day."
Suria blinks, but she plays with the hem of her robe before saying, "I guess I understand your concern. I did have the thoughts that he wouldn't come back, but he kept this one promise." She shrugs, "I'll see how it's like from now on."
Bulan presses her lips together, taking her sister's hands. "I really hope that he won't hurt you. I know that it was wrong for me to say that, but I'm just- I've heard of how he's like and I don't want you to be hurt."
Suria shakes her head, convincing her sister that she knows how to take care of herself. "If he starts being weird, I'll knock him out cold."
Both of them chuckle before Bulan leaves Suria alone when he sees Wooyoung cautiously walking over to them, unsure of whether he's allowed to come close. As the door clicks when Bulan leaves the hall, Suria turns to look at Wooyoung before she tilts her head, inviting him out.
"Care to join me for a night out in the open?"
Wooyoung smiles before he nods, naturally taking her hand in his even though he doesn't know where they'll be going. As soon as they're out of the dining hall, Suria takes the lead as she tugs at his hand, bringing him out of the building before they arrive at somewhere in the palace compound, but away from the main building. They stand in front of a tower before Wooyoung tilts his head to look up, mouth slightly hanging open as he looks at her. He tries to look for an entrance for them to climb the tower, but Suria only shakes her head as she laughs.
"We're climbing up the tower, if you don't mind."
"Climb...ing?" Wooyoung looks at her rather suspiciously.
"Literally." She lets go of his hand before moving over to one hidden side of the tower, tugging at a hanging rope with the end suspended a few centimetres off the ground. She grins, "I'll go first and you can follow behind."
Wooyoung watches without a word as she starts gripping the rope, her feet carefully placed against the outer surface of the tower as she climbs up. He looks at her rather worriedly, but it seems that he has nothing to worry about as she heaves herself up the tower, that's around two-storeys high, before beckoning over to him. Shrugging, he pulls the rope, taking a deep breath before he launches himself off the ground, managing to give him a proper starting distance as he takes a few minutes to reach the top.
She holds out a hand to help him up, and both of them tumble on the ground before he sits up, helping her up before she breaks into a fit of laughter.
"Do you really climb up everytime you want to be on here?" He looks around before shrugging. "I understand though, the view is amazing."
"No one wants to work hard to climb up, so it's the best place to be alone." She sniffs, "I was expecting you to decline the invitation though. My sisters always do, because they say that it's too tiring even though the view is pretty."
"Why would I decline? I get to see this pretty view," Wooyoung says, making a point to look at her.
"Right, the view is pretty isn't it?" She beams, oblivious to what Wooyoung is talking about.
"Uhm," he hums. "You are."
She pauses as she registers what he said, turning her head to glance at him, but he's only looking upfront. "Ah," she chuckles, "I must've misheard it."
"You didn't," he breathes, leaning against the wall as he places his elbows on it, looking at the view from the top of the tower. "I said you are."
"I wonder if," she starts, "you'll say the same if you see my whole face. You know, without the eye patch and all. I bet you'll be thinking differently."
"Your personality is pretty," he replies, shrugging. "That's enough to tell me that you are, both inside and outside." He smiles. "You really don't have to worry about me thinking otherwise." He turns to look at her as she stays quiet, finding her hesitant hands near the knot of her eyepatch. He quickly stops her. "You don't have to open it up if you feel uncomfortable."
She chuckles, relaying, "I just want to know if you'd stay even after seeing it." She jokes, "We won't start if you decide to leave, and we'll pretend as if we never happened."
He lets out a breath before slowly nodding. "I told you that it won't change my mind."
She shrugs. "We'll see." She unties the knot of her eyepatch, closing her eyes as she takes a deep breath before staring back at him finally with both of her eyes. She looks away as she becomes self-conscious of how now he can see that one trait she's been trying to hide. One that made her special; one that also made people call her a monster. She feels Wooyoung touching her chin lightly, prompting her to look back at him, locking their stares.
"They're beautiful," he breathes. "Your eyes." He nods. "I remain with my thoughts; you're beautiful, both inside and outside, princess."
She blinks, trying to adjust to the light now that both of her eyes are exposed. She's been called a monster by people; just because she has two different-coloured eyes - her left iris is coloured green while her right is coloured blue. The burns on the left side on her face do not make things better; in fact it just accentuates the names people have been calling her, which is why she has grown up preferring to hide her face under her hood to ease people's mouths and eyes.
Now that he has reinforced his thoughts even after looking at her full face, she feels awkward knowing that it's not what she expected. So she just stands there, stiff, holding her eye patch as her hood slides down.
"I don't know what people have been saying to you," he utters, "but it's their problem." He points to his chest. "Their hearts must be so dark."
She clears her throat as she interlaces her fingers. "Now that you reacted not like what I had always gotten, it feels weird." She bites her lip. "But thank you."
"Ay," he utters as he flaps his hand. "Why are you thanking me for something that's true?"
She merely chuckles. "And you're- worried that my parents won't accept you because you have blue blood?" Her eyes twinkle as she sighs. "I don't know if you've heard of it, but my blood is black."
He blinks, this information something new to him. When he doesn't say anything because of the shock, she continues.
"My father has white and my mother has crimson." She smiles, "She's a noblewoman. Bulan, Awan and Bintang are my half-sisters; they have white because their mother has white. But she passed away." She leans forward. "Then my father married my mother who's a noblewoman, and they got me." She cups her face. "The youngest."
"Ah..." Wooyoung remains speechless.
"I don't care about hierarchy," she feels the breeze through her hair as she closes her eyes. "It doesn't mean anything."
"You're right, it doesn't."
Suria sighs in contentment, enjoying the weather and the view. She feels him slipping his hand into hers, so she tightens the grip around his hand. They watch as snow falls, dusting their clothes and hair.
He utters, "We can take it slow." He glances at her, "Our relationship. Just tell me when you're ready."
She nods, smiling before he hugs her from behind, placing his chin on her shoulder as they look at the view, accentuated by the snow falling. For the first time, she's found someone she's comfortable with to show her face to, without fear of being judged or laughed at.
He smiles as he snuggles up to her, feeling like the world is moving slowly just for them. For the first time, he's found someone that he falls for because of their personality rather than looks.
They may be polar opposites, but they figured that they're two pieces of a puzzle that are just the perfect fit for each other.
