"auntie jinnie!" taejoong cried in excitement as he leaped off the couch and sprinted towards the ravenette. "i haven't seen you in forever!"

"right?! that's what i've been saying!" soojin said back in the same energized volume as she plucked the boy up and hugged him.

dropping his back onto his feet, taejoong eagerly began pulling soojin towards his bedroom where he kept his lego collection and other toys, wanting to show off his new creations to the girl he saw as family.

that left kun and taerin to calmly sip their wine in the kitchen, discussing work and other adult topics as their favorite people laughed from afar.

swirling his own glass, kun furrowed his brows curiously towards the female. "so, this new man of yours..."

"oh my god, you've been spending way too much time with soojin." taerin laughed as her cheeks turned pink. "he said he's on his way. work went a bit later than he expected and he didn't want to introduce himself in uniform."

the two continued talking about the mystery man until soojin and taejoong appeared in the hallway with their hands behind their backs. their bashful expressions caused the older two to cock singular brows.

"whatcha got there?" taerin finally asked, and the two silently shared a look before nodding and stepping forward to reveal the items behind their hands.

taerin gasped in adoration when her son handed her a random lego block glued to a key ring, pulling it to her chest before scooping the boy up and covering his face in kisses as he squealed.

kun, on the other hand, stared at the oddly shaped creation in his girlfriend's cupped hands. "is that..." he finally said when he found his voice, "did you..?" without a word of confirmation, soojin maneuvered around the kitchen island and dropped it into her boyfriend's palm.

"it's ugly, i know, but when i have time i'll get you a real one."

"no! i like this one." kun beamed as he stared down at the yellow lego flower hot-glued to a rolled-up piece of paper. a homemade diamond ring... made out of legos and paper.

before she was able to decide if he was being sincere or not, his arms were around her waist, pulling her close. she could feel the promise ring on his finger through the thin fabric of her shirt. "it's cute, love. i'm going to keep it forever."

blushing, soojin rolled her eyes and took his jaw between her hands before planting a gentle kiss on his lips. the moment was short-lived, however, when a sudden high-pitched voice screamed: "ew, cooties!"

though the verbal reaction was enough, it was the knock on the door that pulled the couple apart. they watched as taerin tensed up. taejoong, on the other hand, ran towards the door without a care in the world. "he's here!"

flinging the door open, taejoong jumped up and down. "johnny!"

"what's up, little man?" the giant greeted before ruffling the little boy's hair, which quickly turned into play wrestling as kun and soojin stood with their jaws dropped.

finally noticing the other two, johnny grinned and waved. "hey."

soojin blinked and spun to look at the couple, her finger flicking between them. "all this time you two were dating and didn't think to tell me?! what the fu... dge!" she screamed as she ran in the middle of her closest friends, hugging them as she continued screaming. "mama, i trusted you!"

"surprise..?" taerin tried with an awkward smile, but there was relief in her eyes. "you aren't mad? or weirded out? he's a lot younger than me..."

"three years is not a lot." johnny quickly corrected, and when soojin saw him squeeze taerin's hand she squealed. "this is so cute!"

the door opened again to reveal taeyong and doyoung with pizza. "guess who brought—johnny?!"

"let's play uno!" taejoong screamed, not gathering a single hint about the sudden tension in the room. thankfully, kun and soojin were quick to cheer along and pulled him away to play games.
