Undyne, the Royal guard.
A figure well known around the whole underground, the hero of all monsters, the captain of the royal guard, an elite among elites, with blue scales, strong muscles, red hair, sharp teeth that seemed to be able to bite through rocks, and an ever undying spirited attitude, in the minds of many she incarnated the ideal image of a Royal Guard, King Asgore's, and by proxy the Underground, lands of monsters' main and strongest spear and shield, such praises could be constantly heard sung to her name, amidst them all being that she simply never fail, that no matter what she's always there to save the day, that as long as she is ready and willing, no harm shall ever befall Monsterkind...
But she failed.
She failed to uphold to the expectations Monsterkind has set onto her, as a result, everyone before her died. They had minor plans for emergency evacuations which should've let at least half the monsters in Snowdin enough time to escape or hide, but they all fell through, the ground collapsing, terrain sliding and blocking routes, monsters tripping and falling down the river, being all of a sudden unable to contact Alphys in any way no matter how many time she called, thus unable to know if the monsters of Hotlands and beyond got to evacuate or if they're even aware of the situation, it seemed like Fate itself was against the very survival rights of every monsters down below this mountain, like it was telling them to just die.
Of course she wouldn't just accept such an end while laying down, she wouldn't just let everyone keel over and die because of such an unfair, cruel thing as destiny, she would fight for Monsterkind as she's always done and more, refusing to give up no matter what...
But as more and more dead monsters were piling up the Underground with their dusts, her convictions started to break bit by bit as doubts seeped into the crack of her soul, was she the right person for this ? Was she just too weak ? Should she retreat to at least warn Asgore of the situation, letting other monsters die in the process ? Was she ever strong enough to face a human if she couldn't protect anyone from a mere child ?
As more and more negative thoughts swarmed her heart, her determination wavered as dread encroached and took roots, if she could see herself right now she'd doubt it was truly the same person as the one who kept boasting about soon being able to see the sunlight if they defeated that human. Being the strongest Guard ? That everyone's heart wouldn't lose when united ? This felt like a bad joke now, her failure holding onto her like a vice, the only thing that maintained her hope alive was the fact that no matter what, at the very least, Asgore would be able to keep Monsterkind alive, just like he's done it when the previous six human fell down.
Until then, she had to do her part in keeping at least one monster alive, just a single one... But by the time she finally got to encounter that human, it was too late, nothing but the hollow silence of an empty place remained amidst the rippling of falling water around the bridge, not even she thought herself of such fury upon seeing the child, and so they fought.
And yet... Despite her age, her experience in fighting, all her training, and the vengeful rage fueling her, her attacks never made contact, it was like they could see what she would do from a mile away, no matter what she threw at them, her attacks were parried, dodged, and countered as she was hit by a frying pan of all thing with so much force she wanted to gag and curl, were humans simply that much more powerful ? And a child at that ?
To think Asgore fought armies of battle ready, trained, adult humans and not only lived, but managed to save so many monsters, in that moment where her life was on the line, she couldn't help but have a more profound respect for the king and the other veterans that fought by his side, though there was still a tinge of bitterness, if Asgore knew humans were this strong, why has he never trained her more seriously to match a little better ? Why did he left her to be contempt with the little bit of strength she had just because she was better than most other monsters ?
Why... Wasn't she strong enough to save anyone... ?
Such thoughts swallowed her soul nearly whole as the fight dragged on, now being the one on the defensive, her attacks have long lost their edge, now disorganized and desperate, as if it was more now of a fight for her own survival rather than to put an end to that human's life, either way it might be, the opponent was winning, and with relative ease at that.
"Gaah... Hah... Hah... Even though you're... Only a kid... Everyone... I couldn't protect anyone..." She panted out, using a magic spear to hold onto the ground as to not fall on her knees, has she really been fighting for that long ? No, perhaps no less than a couple handful of minutes at best, yet despite all her strength and training, something was making her waste her breath, something she never thought she would ever become acquainted with ; Fear.
It wasn't particularly the fear of dying that held her breath to a chilling still, no, it was simply how much more overwhelming the human was, the fear of being weak, and useless to all other monsters who put so much expectation on her shoulders, the fear... Of facing something she couldn't face, no matter what she did.
"You're a...Horrible freak... You only want to destroy everything in front of you... What... Did the world do to you to cause... Such things to us..." She continued as she launched herself forward once more, throwing another salve of attack, but once again the human dodged her sad attempt with relative ease, even slapping away some of them despite their soul not being under green magic
Said human, covered in dust, didn't say a single word this whole time, simply fighting the unfortunate captain of the Royal Guards, although if one were to look at their expression, they would see the face of a pleasantly surprised human child, was this what they wanted ? To torture her, break her into bits, and have her give up ?
With their abilities, [Reload],[Reset], and [Continue], the human child had relived this fight more than they ever should've before, returning to the past and continuing their seemingly senseless repeated genocide through the Underground, prison of the monsters, and every time they've got to Undyne, things have always been the same, with her determination empowering her, making her much stronger than almost all monsters, and as always, ending up defeated, as always not ever getting hit once, proof of the thousands of times they've gone through this.
But for the recent loops, things have drastically changed, every time after they've left the Ruins, there would be more and more monsters missing, which also meant the human had less Execution Points to earn each time, as of right now they'd hardly manage to get at LV 5 by this point, yet they were facing their targets with ease time and time again, after all it's not like it changed the fact that none of them could even hit them.
Of course, one of the biggest changes they've noticed was Undyne's weakened determination, they've long known that if she wasn't determined enough by herself, she would start to melt, unable to handle what Alphys had given her, before dying and turning into dust, and if she became determined enough, she would transform... But she didn't, if anything it seemed like she's been losing hope, why ? What got her into such despair, when as far as she should know, this is their first meeting ?
Of course they had many more things they'd like to ponder about, especially when it came to these sudden, special changes...But for the moment, that was fine to the human, plenty fine even, after seeing this world for far too long, things were finally changing, as for this hopeless warrior, she will give them a fine boost of EXP to face the other monsters ahead, whatever made all these monsters disappear in Snowdin, she would make up for quite a bit of it.
"I won't give up, I won't... I can't... I'm sure Alphys found out everything, and is helping evacuate on her side... Yeah, I'm... Certain, as long as I stall you long enough... The people behind me will be able to... At least them..." She mumbled out, struggling to make her words loud enough through all that pain, she was only two attacks away from being ashes to the wind, but she was still the captain of the Royal guards, she won't just roll over and die a dog's death, she will go down swinging, killing them or die trying, even if she was now afraid and full of doubt, if there was something she could do, anything at all...
Once again narrowly dodging a new salve of spears, as if to mock her attempt, the human child hit the wounded monster once more, finally putting her on her knees for good, panting and coughing and holding onto a spear as not to fall down, she knew her time was coming, and it was oh so frustrating that she knew her death wouldn't even matter much, if only to have faith that her stalling helped in any way.
She couldn't help but feel bitter at how laughably strong these cruel humans were... But she also couldn't help but feel admiration, not for them, but for her king, Asgore, and all those veteran of the war who fought worst creature than what she faced everyday for years as a large army, how did they even survive ? Was Asgore that much stronger than he was back then ? Was he always holding back during their sparring sessions ?
"Hah... Even if you get past me... Not a single human has ever got past our king Asgore... I may fall here, but... Monsterkind will still... Survive... !" She hurled on to them with as much spite and anger as she could manage to gather up, closing her eyes as she awaited the final attack, it was a shame she couldn't be strong enough to even be a challenge, but if it was Asgore, she was sure he would avenge her, avenge them all-

"... ?!?!"
An attack did indeed hit her, but unlike what she was prepared for, that didn't come from the human no, has a searing hot pain coursed through her, Undyne looked down with great effort as she could now see what was lodged through her chest, a thorn covered vine pierced through it and her armor like a pen through paper, she could only gasp and stare in shock and confusion, how could this happen, why, who...
As it retracted back, the magic spear she held onto shattered into pieces as she fell on the floor, breathing heavily as she tried and failed to stand up, looking up at her arms... Were they melting ? It seemed to be the case, It couldn't end like that though, she couldn't just let herself fall down like this, but as she struggled to look up, the last thing she got to see a few steps away from her face was the golden petals of a flower before she-

... Was pierced through and through by several more vines from above like falling arrows before she could do anything more than that, her eyes becoming wide open, then losing her color as the weaponized plant vines pulled away, leaving the once brave and proud captain of the royal guard into nothing more than a pile of dust like many others left in the human's trail of death.
"..."
Said human wasn't pleased by this scenario if their expression was anything to go by, having managed to deliver the killing blow before it was too late, they did not receive the EXP from their fight with Undyne, but they were equally as surprised and intrigued by this new situation, in all the times they've reloaded back, this was the very first time this development has occurred.
Then, a very familiar face adorned by gold colored petals sprouted out of the pile of dust, one the human hasn't seen in a long while now amidst all of their time shenanigans.
Flowey.
"Howdy there old friend, how are ya, you look like you've seen a ghost, not too upset about me getting rid of that nuisance right ?" He casually asked with a smile... But something was clearly off, he seemed too cheerful, too forceful, too... Crazed.
"Well I hope you're enjoying yourself ! See, I've been thinking for a loooooong time in the back during all your loopings, trying to figure out what rotted between your ears for going on this long at it, and what I should do to make you stop." He continued as he stopped moving, his smile becoming more twisted, letting out a spine chilling, broken chuckle, "But I know that as long as you have more Determination than I do, this world will remain yours to rule... Keh heh..."
"Then I figured, if you won't go on a route that'll allow me to get my hands on the human souls Asgore possess, I might as well go about it the hard way, and... Oh, no I can't spoil you the fun now can I, though the surprise I'm making is to die for." He cackled, twisting his stem as he closed his eyes before looking straight into the human's, clearly, long were gone any semblance of normalcy, only a cold madness remained, stirring things up toward what definitely would be more than just a bit of trouble.
"I could just kill you right there and then, but you'd just come back won't you ? Again and again and again and again and again and again and again and-... Heh... Heh heh heh" He continued, looking more and more unhinged as he repeated himself, only to suddenly calm down, back to his eerily cheerful self.
"So I don't care anymore about becoming the god of this world, I will simply use you, like I always did before. I will use you to get what I want. So go ahead, keep going through things exactly as you always do. I'll see you at the finish line of your little game... !" He laughed, laughed, and laughed before suddenly disappearing underground, finally leaving the human child by their lone self.
In the silence of Waterfall, with the sounds of indifferent rushing water amidst the dark cavernous places and the pile of dust from dead monsters, they stood still, visibly surprised, clearly taken aback, and many words alike... But above all that, they were clearly joyful about this if the giddy smile on their face had anything to say about it.
At last, something truly new ! Something completely different ! They simply couldn't wait to see what awaited them once they were done with this loop, going through all of this to twist the arm of fate evermore was worth it in the end...
And with that, they finally left, in a hurry to be done with this run, almost forgetting entirely about the dead monster hero they faced earlier, not even giving a glance, there once was a time where they used to call her a close friend, where they would cook and plan dates and save Monsterkind together, but now ? After so long ? Nothing more than another monster slightly harder to turn into a pile of gray than others, in the past they could've never even imagined thinking such awful thing, but as they are now, having seen everything she had to offer... A bunch of dialogues and muscles is all they could see the Captain of the royal Guard as.
... Heh, the small irony that they ended up almost exactly like Flowey didn't flew past them though, he did warn them that they would end up one and the same in the end after all, seems like he was at least right about that, just not how much further the human would take this..
Now then...
Where did Monster Kid ran off to ? The human child crave for Love.
