◇ Chapter Four ♡
Hazel thrashed around in the hospital bed, panting in her sleep. She felt confined by the blankets, and perspiration dripped down her face. This was why she hated sleeping: The nightmares made it impossible to do so. She tried to scream, but her voice was gone. No one saw her fighting.
Hazel finally woke up, gasping for air. Her heart was pounding quickly. It got hard for her to breathe. Placing her hands behind her head, she lay back down. She expanded her lungs by putting her hands behind her head and found that it got easier and she calmed down.
Jane rushed into the room and checked on her. She looked terrified and scooted away from the headmistress of Auradon Prep. "Hazel, it's Jane," the brunette said softly, hoping to get her back down to earth. Hazel trembled from head to toe, and she pushed her away. "Please stay away from me!" Hazel begged.
Jane called Mal in the hopes that she could use her magic to help Hazel. Maleficent's daughter came into the hospital and approached the bed slowly. Hazel was starting to cry. This stress was causing so many problems in her life, and the kidnapping didn't make things any easier. Mal placed her hands on Hazel's forehead, chanting a spell underneath her breath.
Hazel fell asleep again, and Mal sighed. "We need to get Uma's necklace now," she said to Jane. Jane nodded solemnly. The two women sat down in chairs and rubbed their foreheads. "Charity can take Hazel to the museum so she can take the necklace," said Jane to Mal.

Charity helped Hazel stand up straight as they walked to the Museum of Cultural History. The queen noticed that Hazel still didn't look refreshed, but she looked more human. Her hair was washed and braided by Evie, who didn't mind the task. Mal and Elsa talked to Hazel about the trauma as they had been through bad incidents themselves. Elisa and Charity assisted Hazel with choosing an outfit that covered herself up; some men around the school decided to flirt with her despite the fact that she and Charity came out about their relationship.
Hazel leaned against Charity, the light in her eyes gone. The purple-haired girl cuddled her girlfriend gently as they entered the museum. Jane led them to where they kept Uma's necklace. The familiar gold chain made Hazel flinch as she thought it was Uma at first glance. Jane read the sign, "Ursula and Uma's seashell necklace. Used to take a mermaid's voice away," and gazed at Hazel.
She unlocked the case and watched Hazel take the necklace. The blonde put it around her neck, and her eyes glowed for a split second. Charity eyed Hazel as she swayed for a few minutes. The women kept Hazel steady and led her back to the castle. Mal had filled out the forms for Hazel to claim the necklace beforehand.
Hans and Anna immediately worried about Hazel once they heard about the necklace idea. "Our daughter isn't wearing that witch's necklace," Anna had snapped. Hans hadn't spoken, but his eyes told a different story. Iduna, Alex, and Chloe didn't freak out, but they did everything they could to free Mal of the notion. Mal had fired back, saying, "It's better than breaking the necklace and seeing what would happen."

Hazel fell asleep in her bedroom as soon as they got back to the castle. Charity stayed beside the bed, having enchanted a pen to mimic her signature. It was far quicker to complete the job, and Charity could keep an eye on her girlfriend. She held Hazel's hand as her chest rose and fell. Charity turned into a purple cat and lay on the bed beside the Lady of the Court.
Hazel pet Charity in her sleep, making the cat purr. Alex knocked on the door, holding a bouquet of orchids in a white porcelain vase with periwinkle flowers painted on. "How is she doing?" Alex whispered, placing the vase on the nightstand. Charity nuzzled Hazel's hand, meowing. "She's healing okay?" Alex asked, sitting where Charity had once sat.
Hubert entered the room next, placing some chocolates on the nightstand as well. He eyed the seashell necklace, growling at it. Alex held Hubert's hand gently. "Love," he said softly. Hubert calmed down but remained tense.
Charity remained where she was, licking Hazel's hand. The three waited for signs of a nightmare, but none came. The necklace began to glow, and Hazel had a small smile on her face. Charity meowed happily, stretching out and lying on top of Hazel's stomach. Alex and Hubert grinned, Alex snuggling into Hubert.
Hazel woke up, rubbing her eyes. She yawned and picked Charity up in her arms. The cat purred, tickling Hazel with her tail. The blonde giggled. The men left the room.
Hazel kissed Charity's head. "Thanks for helping me," she whispered. Charity meowed as a "you're welcome" and nuzzled into Hazel's shoulder. Hazel rocked Charity, and the cat fiddled with the necklace. It may have been used for wicked deeds, but it ended up in the hands of a good person.

"Hazel'll be okay, right?" Alex asked Hubert as they lay in their bed. Hubert nodded. "She'll be fine after a while. Maybe therapy," answered Hubert. Alex held onto Hubert. Hubert kissed his head softly.
"What about us?" Alex inquired. "What kind of future do you see us having?" Hubert thought for a few minutes. "Maybe we can adopt a child from the orphanage. We can get married and settle down in a house. Maybe the house can be near a river so our child can explore," said Hubert. Alex sat up on his elbows.
"Keep talking," the blond said. Hubert grinned. "Hazel and Charity can visit with their child and two dogs. Our children can play together. Maybe they can fall in love or something," continued Hubert. "But it wouldn't work unless Hans and Anna got a divorce." Alex nodded.
"That does make it harder. They actually are getting a divorce," said Alex. Hubert looked at Alex. "It's sad, but now the children could fall in love and get married once they're old enough," said Hubert with finality. Alex kissed Hubert's nose. "I love you," the men said in unison.
