Late Night Gaming

"Hey, (Y/N), do you wanna come over to my house after school?"

I look up, snapping back to reality from my thoughts, and look at Kaminari in confusion. Kirishima laughs at my expression.

"He asked if you want to go over to his house with him."

"I'll ask." I say, taking out my phone and texting my mother. She texts back in a few minutes, saying it's okay as long as she knows the address of the house. I ask Kaminari and send it off, then nod my head.

"Yeah, why not."

~

Turns out Kirishima was coming too. The three of us walk along the pathway, me wheeling my bike, talking amongst eachother.

"I bet he's gonna ask if we want to play video games with him." Kirishima whispers to me. I snicker. We pause outside of a house and Kaminari leads us inside, taking his shoes off and walking into the house.

"Mum, I'm home!" he calls.

"Welcome home, Denki!" a female voice calls back. I suddenly feel a stab of anxiety but shove it down, walking into the house. As soon as I reach the end of the hallway, something big and furry collides with me, knocking me off my feet.

"Ow." I say, sitting up and reaching a hand up to pat the huge dog. It presses against me, accidentally falling off balance and pushing me onto my back again, the dog sprawled over me. Kirishima laughs and does nothing to help me.

"Hey, boundaries, boy!" Kaminari says, grabbing the dog's collar and heaving him off me. The dog whines and tries to reach me again, pulling Kaminari forwards. I laugh as the dog starts to calm down and, instead of straight up leaping onto me, it sniffs around the hem of my skirt.

"You two alright over there?" Kirishima asks, still chuckling. I make sure the dog doesn't flip my skirt up and nod.

"I'm fine." I say, crouching down and ruffling the dog's fur. It licks my arm, leaving slobber all over it, and I wipe it off on my shirt.

"I'm okay too. Y'know, I think he likes you. His name is Pixel." Kaminari laughs, brushing dog fur off his uniform. I realise I was covered with it too and start brushing myself off.

"Of course you'd name him Pixel."

"So, uh... w-what do you wanna do?" he asks, averting his eyes. I tilt my head at him, wondering why he was embarrassed.

"Kirishima said you might want to play video games, so lets do that."

His face lights up and he quickly grabs my hand, dragging me into a lounge room. Kirishima follows, grinning, and we sit down on a couch as Kaminari sets up a console. He picks a game where we can take turns fighting eachother and I quickly get into it, gritting my teeth when I get hit and shouting if the person fighting against me gets a streak.

Halfway through the seventh game, Kaminari speaks.

"I was honestly worried you wouldn't like video games or something and be really bored." He says, not taking his eyes off the screen. I pause for a moment, then quickly start button mashing as he uses the opportunity to get another hit in.

"Are you kidding? I love video games!" I say, then shout in victory as I knock out his character, winning the round.

"Maybe a little too much..." he grumbles, passing the controller to Kirishima. I had won the last three games in a row and I could tell he was starting to get annoyed.

"What, are you upset that you're losing to a girl?" I tease.

"I'm upset that you're beating me at my own game!"

The way he said it made it seem like there was a double meaning to it, but if I was supposed to find it, it went way over my head. I was too focused on beating Kirishima. He was two hits away from knocking me out and ruining my winning streak when I flip the tables and don't give him a single opportunity to attack, repeatedly knocking him into the air and interrupting his retaliations.

As the letters KO flash across the screen, I laugh maniacally and act like an evil villain.

"You cannot hope to defeat me!" I exclaim, grinning.

"Let's play a different game."

~

I was watching the two of them fighting a boss together when I started to drift off. I subconsciously lean against Kaminari, my eyes fluttering closed. I feel him tense up but don't move, nestling against him. The victory song spills out of the speakers, signalling that they won the fight and the level was over. Kaminari mutes the tv.

"Dude, I think (Y/N) is asleep." He whispers over my head, careful not to disturb me. Kirishima shifts around, presumably looking at my face. All noises around me became a soft buzzing except for their voices.

"Should we wake her?"

"I really don't want to. She looks so peaceful like this..."

"Hmm..."

In the end, they decided to leave me be. Kirishima grabbed a nearby blanket and draped it over me. As Kaminari tries to stand up, though, I whine and subconsciously grab his shirt, keeping him still. I hear Kirishima snicker and the rustle of cloth as he gets something out of his pocket.

"Kirishima, I swear, if you take pictures..." Kaminari says, his voice heavy with unspoken threat.

"Come on, dude, your face is priceless right now! I can't pass this up!"

His words are followed by the clicking of a phone camera. I feel Kaminari tense up again but he doesn't move, obviously not wanting to disturb me. Kirishima takes multiple pictures from multiple angles, snickering evilly.

"I'm sending this to everyone."

"Don't you dare!"

I snuggle against him as Kirishima laughs maniacally, but still quiet so he doesn't wake me up. Kaminari accepts his fate and shuffles into a more comfortable position, my head resting on his lap instead of his side, his hand resting on my stomach.

"Man, I'm never gonna let you live this down."

"I'm just worried she'll wake up and try to kill me."

"If she does, I'm not helping you."

"Wow. Thanks."

"Well, I gotta run. My parents'll get worried if I'm not back soon."

"Wait, what do I do about her?!" Kaminari asks in a panic, his body stiffening. I shift around against him, making him freeze and then forcefully relax again.

"I don't know! Figure it out yourself!"

"Wow, great advice!"

"See you tomorrow, Kaminari."

"Get back here and help me!"

I hear a door clicking closed, and Kaminari's drawn-out sigh.

"Oh, did your friends leave already?" Kaminari's mother asks. I hear her footsteps as she walks into the room, then comes to an abrupt halt.

"W-well, one of them did." He replies, sounding bashful. His mother laughs. Something cold and wet brushes up against my leg, most likely Pixel's nose. He hadn't bothered us once while we were playing video games. Now, he stuck his nose straight up my skirt.

"Pixel, no!" Kaminari's mother shouts, dragging him away from me. Kaminari shifts uncomfortably. My phone dings, a new notification popping up on the screen. Kaminari reaches forwards and picks it up, reading the message.

"It's her mother. She says that (Y/N) can stay overnight if she wants, since something happened at home."

"I guess she can, then. Should we move her somewhere else?"

"I-I'm okay with this. If I need to, I can just lie down and let her use my arm as a pillow."

"You're just happy to have a girl sleeping on you."

"M-MUM!!"

In the end, Kaminari did end up shifting around and lying behind me, one arm acting as a pillow and the other wrapped around my waist, our legs tangling together. His touch sent static racing through me, tickling me to sleep.

He was warm.
