Old Promises
"I miss him,"Fin whispered in between sobs. Over the years Finn had made it a point to never let his best friends memory fade. They named their son after him, pictures lay scattered around the house. At one point the two boys promise each other they would always live side by side, as they had their whole lives. Finn made sure to keep that promise, they lived with the cemetery close by, less than a block away, though it had taken Amanda a bit of convincing, he wouldn't break the promise to his friend. It was the least he could do.
Finn reached over to his bed side and grabbed one of two frames that lay positioned on it. The one he now grasped was a picture of him and Dill, the one usually at its side was of a man with sparkling blue eyes, another friend he had lost.
Finn looked at the picture as more tears filled his eyes. They were standing in front of Cinderella's Castle. They were 14 in the picture, beaming widely. The picture was taken no more than a few days before Finn submitted his DHI audition tape. They spent the day together at the park, like they had so many times before. They had their arms around each other and were wearing mouse ears.
He lowered the picture and held it over his heart as another muffled sob was released.
Amanda lay back, doing nothing more than resting a comforting hand on his shoulder, she knew it had been a while since his last break down or nightmare and it was better to let him have his moments.
"I'm sorry," she could just barley hear him whisper, it came out more like a soft breath. She knew it was directed to the boy in the picture.
