Chapter 39: Seals*
A day had passed, and even if Crystal was relieved and happy to know that her family are finally reunited as one, she still worried for West, who was still in the hands of Team Victoria
Unable to even move from her bed due to her weakness, she couldn't even try to know if she can find a way to save him. He's been through enough already... He's alone, and Doublade hasn't even been around! What if they got their hands on the Fiery Orb already..?
"West.." she frowned at the window while Olivia and Tonya were in the room with her having a tea party. The younger girls frowned at Crystal staring out the glass with a longing look on her face like she's been having all day long
"Christy..." Tonya spoke, finally free from the spirits who robbed her of her voice to get attention "Westly is okay, right?"
"I hope he is... He's a strong warrior. I'm sure he can take care of himself, but... I'm still scared" Tonya thought for a moment and hopped off the bed to scurry across the room. Olivia reached over to remove a strand from Crystal's face, grabbing her attention.
"Aaron is already on the case, so you don't have to worry about it."
"That's what I'm worried about" Crystal sweat dropped "knowing how loud and reckless he is, he might have been captured by now" she sighed "When you want something done, you have to do it yourself" she slid her legs across the bed to sit on the edge of the bed. Olivia panicked and raced to the other side.
"No! You're in no condition to walk! You're still healing!"
"There's no healing for me... I appreciate you trying to help me, but I'm not just going to sit here and wait. West did so many things for me, and I've wanted to pay him back! I can't just leave him!" Wyatt walked into the room with a tray of food, seeing everyone facing each other
"What's going on here?" He shook his head, placing the food on Crystal's lap so she can start eating "Olivia? Gabriel wants you with the others."
"Huh? For what?" He snapped her fingers at her and pointed her away. She pouted and patted Crystal's hand.
"Please rest... He's going to be okay" Crystal frowned and watched her run out. It was just her, Tonya, and Wyatt in the room walking to the side table to lift the syringe of liquid and came forward to inject her leg.
"Do you really have to call him by his name?" Crystal huffed, helping Tonya climb the bed again
"I'm sorry, that's rude of me. Sir Champion it is then" he snorted "first you were against me calling him that, now you don't want me calling him by his name? Can't make up your mind, I see."
"Don't play dumb!" He didn't respond and checked on her bloodshot eyes "How do you feel about being back in the family..?"
"It took them this long to understand... They're idiots" he sighed, leaning his hands on the bed with her in front of him, staring into her eyes "but they're still family... I've always loved them" she smiled, wrapping her arms around him "They didn't understand that I had to drop everything for you... I am alive because of you. No, I was able to be born because of you" he backed away and kneeled, bowing his head "I... am aware of your status as the reincarnation of the princess from 3,000 years ago."
"W-Wyatt..." she frowned "So... You're aware that you are..." he nodded, staring at the floor.
"Chandelure... holds the heart of the old king. I learned the truth a long time ago, but some things are better said unsaid" she nodded "You and West... to think he was a Kimana. He's the reincarnation of that Warrior of Fire. Makes sense now, actually" Crystal glanced to the side.
"Have any idea who's heart Litwick has?"
"What do you mean?" She sighed and shook her head. Tonya tugged on her shoulder to show her the princess's journal. The journal... that's right! She still needs to read through it.
"Nothing..." she ran her hands through the cover "This journal... was created by the Princess of Ice herself. The stories of her life when she lived in the castle, our home now, her murders, her curse, her kingdom, her story, the story between the Otashis and Kimanas, and the Warrior's story" she reached for her bag. Wyatt got up and went to get it for her.
Grabbing her magazine, she took out the bright feathers of the legendary Pokémon of Kannena and gently placed them on each seal at the same time, watching them disappear into thin air.
She put the feathers away safely and stared at the journal, too afraid to finally start reading it. Froslass didn't move a muscle, only waiting for her to start opening it.
"The princess's story... Is it a fairy tale?" Tonya asked
"I wish I can say no..." Wyatt picked Tonya up in his arms
"The Kimana family are outside talking to everyone. I have to take Tonya with me. Go ahead and read before I come back."
"The Kimana family is here? Why?" He glanced to the side and walked out without saying a word. Crystal sighed and rested back on the bed, lifting her knees to place the book on her lap and turned the hardcover to the first page
The pages looked perfect like it was paper bought from the store, filled with perfect cursive writing that matched her own handwriting. A few things that amazed her about the book was that it was over 3,000 years old and in perfect condition and the letters looked like they were glowing like they were alive... and almost in each page, beautiful pictures were drawn to describe the paragraph on each page
"W-wow..." the book was simply amazing and felt powerful. Each word was filled with emotions. Whether it was dull, fearful, surprised, relieved, happy, or hopeful, each word reached her heart like she was writing it all on her own
With each passing word, tears kept trailing down like a bucket of water. She had no control. The heart the princess put through each page and the beautiful drawings on the side couldn't be put into description. Everything not only the princess been through, but her family and her love had been through.
Crystal read through the Warrior's story in the middle of the journal and turned to the last page to see that dozens of those pages were blacked by ash, like they were set on fire. There was no way of knowing what was on there, so she closed the book and resealed it by pressing it shut.
"So much for knowing what the king meant by Big sister..." she sighed and got out of bed at the same time Wyatt came back into the room.
"Where do you think you're going?" She frowned at his stern voice
"I've got to go... West needs me" Wyatt frowned "I have a destiny to write, and it's me who is going to put you guys to rest" she looked at Froslass looking down "I'm sorry, Froslass, but as you said... you wanted to do the same thing" she nodded "I have to find him now, Wyatt. Don't try to stop me."
"I won't be the one stopping you. It's your body that'll do it for me" he moved the journal away from her and forced her legs back on the bed.
"Hey!" He put her handmade long dress she hasn't worn in months on her lap "My dress..."
"I worked too hard to keep you alive for this long... Don't think I don't know what you're planning" he looked down "The old king had been watching over the lovers... I saw what happened with the switching. He took your curse, you took his illness, even when it was intended to take the misfortune away from the other... I can guess that West knows nothing of this, knowing how quiet you can be"
"He knows about the switching, but he doesn't know what I'm planning" she closed her eyes "I made my decision. I wasn't going to live very long anyways" she looked at the journal "So might as well... end this" she reached out to hold his hand "Because of me, you weren't able to live. You had all these letters of places wanting you to join them."
"You know about that?"
"I knew since I left. Auntie's Delibird came through the wrong window in the middle of the storm. It's not fair for you to be cooped up in that castle just to keep me healthy when I won't be living pretty soon" she held her heart "I know it's my end... We all see it coming. I'm sorry it had to be like this, but I still promised you" she looked at him in the eye "I'm going home. Even if it may not be healthy now, I'll come home safe" he looked down and covered his eyes
"What am I suppose to do without you, Crystal..? You're my everything" she lifted his chin to look at her.
"Live" a shadow appeared beside her. The two looked to the side to see Froslass holding out the Ice orb "Froslass?" She reached out to take the orb, feeling the cool glass slowly heal her body. She hugged the orb close and looked at Wyatt with her eyes clear again.
"Crystal... Please" he slowly started crying "I'm sorry, okay? I was selfish for keeping you from your parents. I'm sorry... please" he shut his eyes, letting the tears finally come out "Don't leave me."
"I have to go..." she jumped off the bed without falling. She finally felt like herself again... she went into the restroom to freshen and put on her dress before coming out "Please don't wait up" she took her bag and the communicator he was handing and walked past him. Holding the doorknob, she looked back at him staring at the floor
"Hey" he looked over "believe in me, okay?" He sighed and nodded, walking her to the door. From the corner of her eye, she could see her family facing Rhea and her parents talking. Crystal's dad offered a hand with an offering smile. West's dad stared at it, unsure
"What's going on..?" Crystal gasped. Wyatt smiled and pulled her hand to leave the corner before they could see her.
"The Kimana family agreed to come together and face your family. It looks like they were about to break the rivalry and finally be friends" she smiled
"To think the hatred all started because of the old king" Wyatt blushed at her teasing and walked her to the exit
"I'm not saying I accept you leaving me again, but since you feel better... Who am I to stop you from living any longer?" He sighed "This city always suffocated me, and I hated being here... I would follow you to the temple, but that's the worse place for me to be in. I'll probably get killed."
"I will put their spirits to rest soon enough. I'll see you soon. I'm off to save West! And maybe even Aaron, since he probably got captured... that idiot."
"Even if the two families are going to put their differences aside, they're still going to have these anger issues. West might not even accept you like the other Kimanas that weren't even in that waiting room to agree with the agreement. Have you ever thought of that?"
"Yes," she walked off "I was fully aware" Litwick floated over to where she was leaving, giving her a pouty face, making her smile and hold its body "Litwick... You always had an adoration for me, and now I understand why" it tilted its head confused "Once I'm gone, and Wyatt will finally make a living for himself, you'll be able to finally be trained... if..." she sighed and let it go, walking away "I'm sorry you had to see him leave you like that. William" Litwick flinched and looked at Froslass staring at it from the corner of her eye and begun to lead Crystal where Froslass remembered where the base was
The building was made for a company called Victorian inc. "Nice way to incorporate that" she sweat dropped and looked up at how high the building was. The sign next to the entrance explained that the company was found and created to bring benefits to people who are willing to make their life better... it was an insurance company "Are you kidding me? This founder wants to hide the fact that he's-"
"Crystal" she turned around to see Kyle wearing a shock expression while holding a brown bag with what looked like machine parts, standing next to a kid who looked like the kid she met long before he started her journey who she took away his badges when he bet them off and got banned for his cockiness and being a snitch.
"Oh... Hey" she turned to face them "It's been awhile. Thanks again for taking me to the hospital" she bowed her head for a quick second, wanting to understand why his eyes were shaking with fear, guilt, and worry.
Her eyes looked down at the kid in the lab coat "What are you doing here, kid? Could you not be patient enough to wait for me to come back and unban you if I feel like it?" the kid softened his stern expression and blinked confused a few times
"Pardon?" Though they had the same faces, this kid spoke in a different accent
"Aren't you Jeramy?" The young scientists tilted his head in understanding and fixed his glasses
"You must be talking about my twin brother who lives in Frost Town... our parents separated, so we lives separated ways" he crossed his arms "I don't want to be compared to someone like him..."
"Don't blame you" she flipped her hair. He froze instantly
"Wait... What? Are you insulting my brother?!" His stern voice suddenly turned high pitch, almost childlike. His face turned bright red when realizing what he's done "I-I mean.." she sighed and held her hip
"I don't care about your brother, kid. I got other things to worry about" he glared at her sass. Kyle stared at him being a kid before looking at how Crystal didn't even look like she needed to be hospitalized. She looked the same as he first met her, without the dress that made her look like an elegant princess.
His cheeks went a little red before her misty blue eyes stared at him. He flinched, noticing the change of color in her eyes
"Uh... So how do you feel now?" He nervously asked. Why was he acting so nervous now when he was so cocky the first time they met?
"I could be better."
"When I found you, you were bleeding, and you almost looked dead" The kid stared at Kyle making conversation
"Gee... That's what every girl wants to hear. I don't have to answer to you. As you can see, I had better days. I'm fine now" The kid nodded and offered his hand.
"My name is Jared. I am a scientist here in the Victorian inc. Before you ask about my age, I was nominated to be the youngest person to earn a master's degree. I was highly recognized for my genius brain and now working for the most powerful company in Kannena."
"Pretty impressive, but I never asked for your life story" he glared.
"I'm trying to introduce myself! Since you seem to be a friend of Kyle. I wanted to show you around the building formally. How does that sound?" Froslass narrowed her eyes, staying close to Crystal for safety reasons. Kyle frowned and looked at Crystal standing there with her eyes closed
"Taking me for a fool..." she muttered, and it seems like he was the only one to hear her "Thank you, I'll accept the offer" Jared nodded and walked into the building. Kyle took Crystal's hand to stop her.
"I know you're not a fool..." she glanced at him "you already know what that building is even if you were pretty much unconscious the whole time and deadly ill to recognize the things around you. They allowed you to leave because of your condition and waited for you to be better so they can take you back" she faced him sideways to look at his guilty expression more "West and Aaron won't be in there for long... They're planning on leaving Zamia today"
"Interesting, it's like you know a lot about this place" she spoke with her eyes half open, unimpressed "At first I didn't know it was you who was behind my cell, but I recognized your voice. To think you even gave any concern for me even if you're that bad of a person to be part of that gang... I can't seem to understand you" he let go of her hand and looked down "I'm not stupid... I know you saved me, and I thank you for that" she bowed, shocking him "I'm here to save my love and his idiot cousin. So if you care about how I feel, help me."
"Your love..." he blushed at the floor before looking at her with a soft glare "Why would I help you? I'm part of this company for a reason! I want to be on top! Everyone else will be at the bottom, kissing our feet."
"You tell me that, but you ended up saving someone who you were looking down upon" he bit his lips "Make up your mind on who you want to be... There's only one answer because there's only one of you. Whether you want to be selfish, or be the better person and know what's right from wrong" she walked towards the building, looking back at him with a small smile "I know it won't be a hard decision to make, since you told me about West and Aaron. You're a good guy, believe it or not. You care" he flinched, watching her walk into the sliding doors
