Chapter 22: Terror*

West kicked and shouted on his bed, having no control over his body as he sleeps. Cresselia's lunar feather couldn't save him after what Honedge did, so they strapped him down in the bedroom he was given, just in case he tried hurting himself.

Crystal frowned down at his crying face, not knowing what to do. If she never walked away, he wouldn't be like this... Would he..?

"I'm sorry... West" she held his cheek "Forgive me..." Froslass frowned at her guilt "I'm sure she did that because she didn't want you to suffer, but this happened..."

"Fros..." Froslass cried, looking over at Honedge eyeing her from the corner of the door "Lass..?" Honedge gave a saddened aura and floated away

"Crystal... He'll be okay" Leah frowned.

"How do you know..? What happened only proves how true the legend is getting. The princess took his illness so that he can die painlessly, and so he can be happy in the next life" Leah sat next to her.

"That sounds like you alright... Even if you're cold, you wouldn't mind taking someone else's pain, because you know how to handle it" she hugged her sideways "You were always so wise for your age. That's why you would go after Sam and Olivia and save them from the tree they were stuck on, even if you would risk getting hurt. Like with Wyatt... You went after him when he ran away from the family when you were hospitalized... You left the hospital when hearing what he was trying to do, leave us. You risk your health to tell him off, and he left so he can do what he truly wanted to do instead of what dad tried making him to be"

"That's because he was an idiot... but I get it. He became someone for me, and that's all he's been motivated to do. It doesn't matter what happens to me. I rather see others pick their chins up and stop looking down just because they think they can't do something, then to see them suffer while looking like an idiot. We can do whatever we want, there's just a limit... and if we're capable of having it or not, we are meant to be someone for a reason" Crystal took West's hand, calming him a bit "West has potential in his eyes, maybe that's why I agreed to have him to come with me... because I wanted to see what he can actually do. Even so, his journey won't be easy. I'll gladly give him my badge because he helped me when he didn't have to. I'm not trying to let down the family, but..." Leah pet her head

"You don't have to explain to me. Since he helped you for this long, how about you stay here and help him..? You can do that, right?" She looked around for the Honedge "That Pokémon must've gotten through his soul to speak out the mind of that warrior. He's hurting... I'll bring you some food later on, okay? Don't hesitate to call me" she threw out a Pokéball to release her Jolteon. Jolteon smelled a familiar scent and jumped into Crystal's arms, licking her face repeatedly "We'll be in the other room" Leah smiled

"Thanks... sis" Leah nodded and walked out, leaving Ryan to stare at West's shaking body with tears running out to his ears

"He came a long way since we were kids, you know?" He leaned on the wall "He use to cry for the littlest things, and his sister would always defend him. We made fun of him for that... We also made fun of him because of how he always screams in his sleep at nap time and wets his pants. I didn't think what he saw was all that scary... I was a kid myself, and he slowly started becoming distant after what happened with his so-called friend that was actually in a group with us. West stopped getting close to others, even his own family, and I heard those nightmares were getting worse, so he stopped coming to school. I haven't seen him in years after that" Crystal didn't take her eyes off West's sweaty face. Cleaning it off, she held his hand and sat back down to listen to the story

"He changed a lot. I didn't think I see him become a man I see today. It sucks... He still suffers from night terrors, but at least he has you on his side to help him feel better. He's calmed down" he smiled

"This friend of his... The one that caused him to become sensitive about having friends... The one that ruined him. Where is he now?" She asked, eyebrows twitching

"Can't say... haven't heard of him in a while, but I heard his family won the lottery. Must be living the life, or not. Who needs so much money when you can have a nice home like this with a beautiful wife!?" He held his heart in awe. Crystal smiled at her lap

"It's good that my sister found someone to admire her so much. She was bullied because of her glasses and face acne when she was a young teenager. I wonder how things would be like if you met her then" He rubbed the back of his neck, uncomfortable to answer that "I missed a lot of things... like her wedding" she sighed "I guess my ancestor or incarnation, the princess of Ice, just thought... of her warrior before herself. I'm not mad, because I don't think I would want to see West ill like he sees me and worries. I don't deserve to be by his side, because I can't give him what he wants. A true friend..." he believes in the legends of the lovers and thinks they can be close like them, but the sensitivity in his heart is going to his head. It's better off if someone like her wasn't in his life, but he thinks otherwise... He won't understand

"Hey, you'll be fine, okay?" She nodded "Here, might want to use this if you're planning on sleeping through the night. Put those on" he handed 2 pairs of headphones "This place is called Mt.Lightning for a reason. Sleep well" he walked out. Crystal looked over at the empty twin bed next to her then looked back at West trying to control his breathing.

She stared at the Lunar wing in her hand and made a small prayer before placing it on his chest and watched it finally sparkling and calm his terror "That's better..." she placed the earphones on his ears and sat on her bed "He's going to be fine..." she petted Cleffa on his pillow and smiled down at Leah's Jolteon, one of the Eevee brothers of the family, and pet its head

"It's been a while... You still remember me like Flareon, huh?" Jolteon jumped up to lick her face "Okay, down, silly" Jolteon went to lay on the end of the bed to relax. Crystal was about to put on her earphones before dropping them when a flashing light and the loudest thunderclap she's ever heard came from outside the window

~

West stared from the point of view of another, laid down on a tiled floor around fountains, seeing the large skirt of a woman sitting on her knees, trying to force herself to stay alive a little longer to make a wish

"I beseech thee, grant me this singular favor. My beloved hath suffered from infirmity since youth, and I implore that he be spared from enduring the same affliction once more" it was a believed a sin can be kept in the afterlife "He hath endured so long without mirth or respite. He hath brought me solace and joy beyond measure, a blessing I cherish above all else. I do entreat thee, grant that he may awaken anew in a life untainted by this affliction, and in its stead, let it take root within my being"

"No... Don't do it" West gasped

"He hath borne a burden I can scarcely fathom, and in truth, he deserves naught but happiness and life anew"

"What about you..?"

"All I did seek was happiness, that sole desire. If I can depart in contentment, assured of his well-being in the days to come, then that is the utmost solace"

"No... You can't do this to yourself! Live! Don't throw away your life for me! That's not what I want! I want you to be happy too!" He shouted, but no words could come out his mouth

His eyes traveled higher to see her face, seeing Crystal's face growing pale as her chest glowed brightly, taking in the illness the warrior held before his passing. She smiled down at him, sobbing with blood trailing down the side of her lips "C-Crystal.." he whispered

"Be happy..." her eyes rolled to the back of her head, collapsing to the floor, and passed away. West shouted in his head, wanting to go after her. The body he was using was already dead, so there was no way he could get up

"Please, Crystal doesn't deserve this! She deserves to be happy! She wants freedom!" He cried, looking up to see a large legendary bird with red and blue feathers looking down at him with the Ice orb and Fiery orb floating near it "Please... Let her live" West snapped his eyes open, seeing himself laying on a bed, sweaty while strapped down to it with rope.

The room had a muffled scream to it and multiple flashes kept coming from the window, that's when he noticed it was thunder and lightning outside the house

"I guess they don't call it Mt.Lightning for nothing" he sighed and removed the ropes from his body "I had a nightmare... but these ropes? It looks like I had a night terror" he held his head, feeling headphones on him "That was terrifying" he wiped his face to calm himself and looked around the room, seeing a Jolteon sitting on the other bed next to him "Oh... Hey, are you one of Leah's Pokémon?" Jolteon barked, but it was muffled.

He took off his headphones and flinched at how loud the thunder was. Before putting them back on, he heard a sniffle. Jolteon jumped on his bed and dragged him out to the other side of the other bed, where he saw Crystal covering her ears, trying to hide as best as she could from the thunder.

"Chris-" he looked at Jolteon sniffing around like it was looking for something. West eyes looked around to find some headphones dangling from a bookshelf, nearly falling off the wood

"I didn't think you'd be that kind of person to be scared of thunder like this" Crystal looked up, staring at his pale face, full of tears "Hey" he grabbed the dangling headset and walked over to place her on his lap, putting the earphones on her. She stared at him sighing and rest his head on her shoulder "it's okay, I'm here. I'll keep you safe" she opened her mouth to speak before getting interrupted "Let's stay like this for a little bit... I'm sorry" she frowned and rested on his head, closing her eyes and fell asleep long after

The morning passed and Crystal sat on the bed while staring at West sleeping on the floor "Well, at least he slept well last night" Leah chuckled

"He's like three years younger than me, how did he end up getting more freaky?" Ryan asked. Crystal froze "Doing it on the floor, eh?"

"Say that again..." her eyes filled with darkness. He flinched at the sight "You pervert."

"I-I'm sorry! I was kidding!" She sighed and looked back at West. Taking him by the arm, she tried picking him up. Ryan hurried to do it instead and laid him on the bed.

"Don't put too much work into your body, sis" Leah said

"I'm fine" she huffed "I'm stronger than I look..." she pet West's head "He's still asleep. His night terrors must've really exhausted him. I don't get it though... The lunar feather that often helps him with those things didn't work until later on"

"Honedge must've been responsible" Leah said "The people it tried possessing say they were left feeling sore and even heartbroken. They would end up getting fevers for a short while" Crystal bit her lips "Honedge possessed West to say something out of the ordinary. Maybe you two really are the reincarnations of the legendary lovers, and Honedge has been seeking for the hand of the warrior. I never heard of anyone claiming it spoke through them" Crystal looked at Froslass frowning "It's been waiting for West... grandma told me it always shows back up in the mountain every 20 years... Once it got a hold of West, it's heart poured into his body and made him say what it wanted to say"

"Froslass..." Crystal looked at her "So are you and Honedge like... our incarnations? Are you two their hearts?" Froslass looked down, nodding "So that's why you follow me..." she looked back at West "and that Honedge holds the heart of the warrior. It wanted to pour its heart out after finding out what happened with the princess"

"This all is really confusing..." Ryan held his head "but I mean... they're ghost Pokémon. I can understand that part"

"Are you feeling hungry? You hardly ate last night. The food is still there if you want some. I'll heat it up" Leah said

"Thank you... I'll wake West up in a bit" the couple nodded and walked out. Cleffa was staring down at his face, hugging his cheek "He'll be okay... At least he's not having a Night Terror" she sighed, holding his cheek "What did he see..? Did Honedge show him something..? Something from the past?" Froslass nodded at her question "Huh? It did?" She kneeled on the floor "Why haven't you tried showing me something?" Froslass closed her eyes, making some mist appear behind her and formed it into the younger version of the old woman she met in Everest Town, the one that gave her the pocket watch and Ice orb. Crystal gasped and stood up

"Y-you..." so Froslass made her out as an illusion. The woman's eyes were covered and her face was misty "You're the princess... an actual princess?"

"My name is Diane... Young snowflake" her voice! It's the same as she heard back in the Frost forest! "I, the Snow Princess or Princess of Ice as they call me, do comprehend thy curiosity about our existence, yet the hour for revelation is not upon us. Should thou truly wish to unlock my speech, seek out the Fiery Orb and entrust its safeguarding to Damian"

"Damian? Is that the Warrior's name?" She looked at West "So... We are-?" She looked back to look at the princess, but she disappeared "She's gone..." she looked at Froslass leaving the room. She's been through enough. If she is the princess's heart, it probably hurt to see Honedge again

"Hey" West yawned

"You're awake" he sat up

"Yeah... How did you sleep?" She blushed, knowing he saw her at her worse state of being scared of loud noise, not particularly lightning or anything

"I can ask you the same question" he looked down "You don't have to tell me. Come on. We didn't get the chance to eat last night. Are you well enough to stand?"

"This is why you're like this today..." she looked at him confused "Diane, I learned the princess's name. When her time limit came to an end, she forced herself to stay alive to ask for one last wish" he covered his eyes "The burden was placed on you... I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" Crystal frowned, watching him shaking and sobbing "She was more concern about his future more than her own, and now you're the one who has to suffer. You must hate me" she sat back down

"No, I don't..." he didn't look up, but stopped crying "The princess and I are pretty much the same. She's selfless... and if I happen to love you, I would have done the same" he looked up wide eyes, his green eyes sparkling

"Y-You love me!?" She groaned and covered his face with a pillow

"I said if!" She blushed "Now that I know how exactly I got this illness, I don't mind having it if it means letting someone else be free" she closed her eyes "I admired those who keep their chins up and eyes open. I don't mind helping to keep it that way. I like the potential in your eyes, West. That's why we work. If you weren't like you are right now, I wouldn't have agreed to travel with you" he moved the pillow, smiling.

"So you do love me!" He laughed as she glared "Kidding! But seriously..." he held her hand "Thank you... I'll repay you someday" she turned away, snatching her hand away.

"It's not like I'm the princess! So don't think you have to do anything! You can't! I don't love you! Idiot!" He continued to smile. She only sighed and ran her hand in her hair "Let's go and eat... I need food in my system for the medicine to work" he stood.

"Of course, princess."

You have no idea how long it took me to prepare this story. There's so much patterns I have to keep an eye on. My fanfics don't take that long because they fall under a storyline that's already made and would take me 2-3 months to complete, but this took me years! Gosh!

9/9/23 if you have any questions about what exactly theyre saying, please let me know so i can help you understand. I made it somewhat easy to understand.
