Chapter 19: Stone*
West put away Crystal's medicine and supplies while she was in a different room with Samantha, getting ready for their leave. Crystal wore a white shirt with jean shorts that came with suspenders
"Wow," Sam giggled "I never imagined you working this style. Even when we were little, you always wore dresses and stood like a princess. It's like you're a new person."
"Don't get me wrong. I still wear dresses fit for the Frost forest. It's just too hot to wear them on our trip."
"So that's where Wyatt's been hiding you... That's not fair, for him to have you to himself. Doesn't he know you have a family?"
"You're too young to understand what happened, Sammy" Crystal sighed "It's too much to explain."
"I'm 16! I'm only two years younger than you, but I understand. I don't want to know until it's fair on everyone to talk about. I miss you, that's all... Everyone misses you" Crystal walked over to wrap her little sister in a tight hug "I never thought I'd see you again."
"Don't think that way... I left the castle for you all. I'm not stopping until I see everyone. Count on me to succeed before he finds me. You take care and don't tell anyone about this"
"You have my word!" Sam saluted "Say... That West guy. Doesn't his family hate the Otashi name..? I mean, he seemed like he hated my guts back in the circus."
"Don't mind him... He might hate our family like the rest of them, but he's different."
"He owns a legendary like you. Can't imagine what your battle will be like with him" Crystal snorted and gathered the clothes she changed from "He's a promising trainer and has potential in his eyes...unlike his other family members I challenged. You are going to battle him fairly, right?"
"I suppose... He's going to hate me once he finds out. I'll probably give him the badge as an apology for lying to him all this time and using him for medical support"
"But... He likes you. Can't you see it in his eyes? I would think you would've noticed since you're the best one to understand others by looking at them"
"I don't have that kind of emotion, so I wouldn't be able to identify it. He's going to hate me, and that's how things have to be. I've accepted him, and I never backstabbed him. I'm not just an Otashi member. I'm a person. The real question is... Will he backstab me if he finds out and leaves me when I need him most?" Sam looked down
"I... I don't think he'll do that. It's like you said, he's different. Believe in him" Crystal looked away
"Well, I don't care either way. He's the one that asked to join me. He can leave anytime he wants. I left for this journey on my own, not expecting help from anyone. I guess I just got lucky" she sighed "but he's free to leave any time, for all I care"
"You don't?" Crystal stared at the floor, remembering how much West thought the legend was real for them to be soulmates. He's too naive "You know... You haven't changed at all" Sam smiled "I hope you take care of yourself. Thank you so much for coming all this way to see me" Crystal smiled
"This won't be the last time... This journey will not only let me see everyone, but it's a way for Wyatt to trust that I can be fine on my own"
"You... Kinda can't" Crystal rolled her eyes and walked out the room, seeing West and Dave talking together at the end of the hallway. He handed over her medicine as soon as he saw her walk out with Sam
"Hey there, ready to go?" she snatched her things away and walked past him. He only chuckled and followed her outside with everyone
"I hope you guys make it out safely" Sam said "I'm sorry again for what I caused" she bowed
"It wasn't your fault. Don't worry about it" West waved his hand "Thanks for letting us crash at your place" Sam smiled brightly "You know... You're not so bad"
"Why would I be? It's not like my family cares about how you guys see us" a vain popped from his forehead "If I had the power to, I would get to reject the battle of anyone who doesn't take a gym challenge seriously!"
"Why you little..." She huffed at him, then smiled
"But you were the only one that took me seriously..." she bowed "Thank you for giving me a worthy battle. I had fun" she dug in her pocket and handed him a badge shaped as a ring covered in flames "Glad to know there are people out there who don't care about one thing that's so irrelevant" West blinked confused "But actually put worth something they really care about" he looked at Crystal staring at nothing "I'm talking gibberish right now! I hope you know what I mean in the future. Please accept this badge as a token of our friendship" he slowly took the badge and stared at it
"Our friendship..?" Sam giggled. He nodded, thinking back at Rhea's anger when coming home. Not only did she complain about the leader who refused to battle her, but she talked mess about every one she battled. Now he feels terrible for believing her. Sam was charming. Could it be that... that Rhea's anger got to him?
"Right! Thank you" Sam nodded "Come on, Crystal! Don't you want to go see that sister of yours?" She walked away "Hold on!" Sam giggled, following after them outside
"Don't worry about it. I already saw her" Crystal told West while looking through a magazine
"Y-You did? When?" West asked
"When you were taking hours to get refills for my medicine" she lied. It was the medicine that filled the syringe West stabbed Crystal's leg with the other day, called Daiyamondo "She came for a visit, and that's when I talked to her"
"I didn't think I took that long... The nurse didn't know what I was talking about! Who ever heard of Daiyamondo!? The nurse thought I was going crazy and needed a jeweler! If that Henry guy didn't show up when I needed him, I think I would still been in that Pokémon center right now! I didn't know Daiyamondo was translated to diamond at first"
"Well, not only is Henry an act in the circus, he's our doctor if anyone gets an injury" Sam said "Anyways, requesting Daiyamondo is difficult... luckily I had a way to order it. I was happy to offer help"
"That would have been nice to know before I embarrassed myself in that place!"
"You did that on your own" Crystal said "No one told you it was in the Pokémon center... I just said it's a prescription that had to be picked up... I never said it was in some stupid center"
"What is it anyway? How were you about to get a prescription?" Sam called her parent's assistants and asked for a delivery. She couldn't explain to them why she needed it, but they didn't question it and made the delivery with the help of her Volcarona. Daiyamondo is a liquid filled with chemicals that could melt an element similar to diamonds. It's a rare kind of medicine that is treatable for the muscles, usually used for athletes or bodybuilders who want to heal their painful aches quicker.
"My... Grandmother uses the medicine. She lives on the other side of the city! Good thing she had some refills to spare, huh? Lucky us!" Sam nervously lied "It's not an easy medicine to get since it was made by a single person"
"A single person?" West questioned "Who?"
"Wyatt" Crystal said, turning around and walked away "Let's go. We lost enough time as it is" West hurried to follow and waved to his new friends
"Be careful!" Sam shouted "Take care of her for me, got it!?"
"Sure!" The girls seem pretty close, but he's not going to look into it. Crystal waved to the couple next to Flareon crying, wanting to be with her longer. She feels bad for not bringing Glaceon, but that's how it has to be for now.
She narrowed her eyes towards Dave, flinching nervously, reading her eyes to know what she was reminding him the entire time she stayed in, sick. If you're not going to man up, don't bother even looking at my little sister Dave was so terrified that he tried staying away from her room as much as possible. Never had he thought a stare could turn someone into stone
"What's wrong, Davy?" Sam asked
"N-Nothing! They seem nice... but that sister of yours is kinda scary" Dave said. She giggled, watching them disappear into the distance
"She's just like that"
"Who's just like that?" She flinched, slowly turning around to see the familiar guy, taller than her, staring at her with his serious blue eyes "Good to see you again, Samantha"
"W-Wyatt..."
"Might want to tell me what you were talking about?"

It was finally time to head back to Ona Town, where they had to take a cable car to the next city in the mountains. Crystal didn't want to seem too suspicious about telling West that she had a sister in every place a gym leader is, so she kept to herself and only told him to do what he wants and do his gym matches while he can.
He stared at the Ring Badge Sam gave to him earlier "I finally got my first badge! If it weren't for Cresselia, I would have been screwed!"
"You own a legendary, West... It's amazing you were able to achieve this, but this Pokémon came to you when you were in need" Crystal held her chin "Cresselia, the full moon Pokémon. It has special feathers that can awaken anyone who goes through horrid nightmares. It might have sensed your potential and wanted to stay with you, to protect you" West smiled at the floor
"Yeah... I spent years having night terrors. If it wasn't for Cresselia, I don't know how I'd be today. My parents told me that it made me misbehave in school because of what I saw"
"What did you see?" He shook his head
"Cresselia got rid of those memories long ago, so I wouldn't be able to tell you" the two took a bus to ride to Ona Town to avoid going through the forest. They wouldn't want to run into that Team Victorian admin; Britney, again
"Where's the next place your sister's at? How many do you have again?"
"It's not just my sisters I'm aiming to see... I have other relatives, but the next one is the youngest of all of them, so I'm bound to see those who takes care of her"
"Why doesn't she live with her parents again?" Keep cool and keep lying so he won't find out. It was too hard to keep making excuses
"Listen, West. I can't tell you too much right now. I'll let you know by the end of the journey. You'll understand from there, I'm sure"
"That's fine. I don't want to make you tell me anything you're not comfortable with" it's strange how he hasn't figured it out, but he is a little of an airhead "Want to get some cotton candy again?" He grinned widely when seeing her face lighten up a little, but dropped immediately
"I can't have candy all the time. Our breakfast consisted of Sam's famous pancakes"
"They were delicious! What did she call them again? Flaming cakes? How does a girl her age learn how to cook like that?" Sam always cooked for the family when she was younger by watching cooking shows after her action movies ended
"She's only 16, and how should I know? Anyway... Are we going to take a cable car-" West was standing in front of a churro booth "Hey, are you listening to me-" he turned around and offered her a short stick with sugar
"Here! Try it! I want you to try as many things as possible before you have to go home" she took the stick, staring at it "It's really good!" He took a bite off his own
"You're...going to end up making me fat" she pouted, eating the delicious treat. Froslass stared at her secretly enjoying her snacks before overhearing commotion going on ahead of them.
Two Team Victorian Grunts rode through the crowd of people while riding on Stoutlands without any disregards of anyone they might run into
"Whoa!" West shouted, running in the middle of their path "Slow down! You're going to hurt someone!" They didn't stop
"Idiot! What are you doing!?" Crystal shouted. The Grunts laughed, trying to see if he'll move in time. West focused his eyes and jumped onto one of the Stoutland's back, causing confusion for the Pokémon and resulting them to force a stop, having the grunt fly into a building and West landing safely on the ground without a scratch on him.
Crystal stood there in shock, feeling her heart flutter for some reason. That was reckless... but he looked flawless doing it
Froslass smiled at her and followed her to go after him "How did you do that?" She asked, trying not to go off on him for doing something so dangerous
"There's a lot of things you don't know about me!" He laughed. The grunt with the red dress shirt underneath his poncho that crashed got helped by his partner. Their uniforms matched, but just had different shirts underneath; red and blue
"What's the big idea?" Red shirt guy with a thick accent glared
"You think you're funny, bruh?" Blue shirt guy asked in a thug boy accent. West stood in front of Crystal, lifting her hood to hide her identity
"You could have caused harm to these innocent civilians! Look where it got you!" The Grunts stood next to each other
"Learn where you stand, peasant!" Red shirt guy laughed "We can do whatever we want. So get in our level!"
"Do you have any idea who I am!?" West glared "How dare you call me a peasant! You guys seem like spoiled little rich kids trying to cause trouble anywhere they think they can mess with because of their money!" Blue shirt guy glanced away "We're all people! Aren't we?" Crystal frowned at him. He says that... but will he mean it at the end?
"Shut your mouth, or we'll do it for you!" The grunts sent out their Vulpix and Growlithe. The Growlithe was covered in dirt "Seriously, don't you bathe your Pokémon!?" Red shirt guy groaned
"Look, untie your panties from the knot. Leave my Pokémon alone man. Some of us like getting a little dirty" blue shirt guy sweatdropped. Red shirt guy glared
"Are you thick!? You should feel grateful that you get the privilege to be part of a team like Team Victoria! Taking in poor kids like you who are given money just like that was a bad idea!"
"Just for a little dirt, man!?"
"It's disgusting! Only peasants play with dirt!"
"Don't insult my Growlithe, dude!"
"Idiot! I'm talking about you!" Blue shirt guy removed his expensive poncho and threw it on the ground
"That's it! You wanna go!?"
"Don't be stupid! I'm going to get dirty! I wouldn't dare waste these hands on you" red shirt guy scoffed, lifting his chin to look down at him. Blue shirt guy attacked and started beating on him. Red shirt guy didn't go down so quickly and defended himself while their Pokémon stared at them, sweat dropping like this was a thing that happens often
"Didn't Father Thomas say that the gang was filled with people of different classes?" West asked "It's like that then... Hey! Knock it off!" When they didn't listen, he grabbed them by the shoulder and threw them apart to break it up "Stop fighting!" Crystal sighed and walked over
"How irrelevant" she looked down at the grunts staring at her poise position "Looks like neither of you even know how to behave yourselves, even the ones who claim to be in the higher class"
"Say what?" Blue shirt guy yelled
"Calm down. I didn't say anything that wasn't a lie. What? Are you going to fight me too for saying something to you?" Red shirt guy huffed and stood up, dusting himself off
"It's not worth it. We got work today over at the cable cars, so don't bother us again" the boys glared at each other and hopped on their Pokémon, making their way to their job sight like nothing happened
"Idiots... Why does a class even matter?" Crystal asked. West crossed his arms and sighed
"They don't seem to recognize us... That's good to know! Let's take care of those thugs and head to the cable cars, okay?" She nodded and looked over at Froslass spotting something hiding behind a building. Crystal looked over to see a Pokémon staring at them for a little moment until it was caught and disappeared "oh..?"
"What?"
"Nothing... Let's go" the two went to the cable cars, seeing the same Grunts guarding the entrance to the place that gives anyone access to head to the town or city above the mountain, the same place where one of her older sisters lives
"Hey!" She glared, making West jump "You're in the way! Move it!"
"You again!? Why don't you make-" they froze when seeing the darkness in her eyes
"I actually have a gravestone to visit... I don't mind putting you two in some as well" they gained the chills
"W-we were ordered to keep anyone from coming to this place..." blue shirt guy said
"Does it look like I care? Cleffa? How about a kiss?" Cleffa gasped and blew a lovely kiss to confuse the two of them, making them hug each other in a daze "That's more like it" she took West's hand "Let's hurry before they snap out of it" what she told them wasn't a lie. She honestly did want to visit a gravestone that sits outside the town on the mountain; a stone where her grandparents' rest, waiting for her arrival after so many years
