Chapter 1: Rejected*

Crystal in Ai :)

Crystal sat on the side of her window where the wind was picking up quite quickly. She stared at the snow roaring through the icy storm going as fast as it could go. Seeing pass the misty wind, she sighed when spotting a traveler walking towards her home. Upon seeing this, her bedroom door opened, letting in her only butler

"Crystal, we will be expecting a guest" he informed with a blood pressure machine on his side. The young girl didn't bother looking at him, only staring at their guest eventually reaching the front gates "I better take your blood pressure before you head downstairs"

"I'm fine" she spoke boldly

"I know you like saying that, but you know you're not fine. I'm your butler for a reason, and it's my duty to take care of you" with him being a butler, he's also a doctor trained in school just to be part of the castle

Crystal narrowed her eyes with an annoyed look on her face, giving him an expression that she wasn't having any of his mess. She stood up, causing her blanket to fall off the edge of her long dark gray dress, down to her ankles.

"I don't need you reminding me of my problems, Wyatt!" she said his name in a harsh annoyed tone. He sighed and handed her prescription bottle

"I know you don't like hearing it, but you act like you need a reminder. You stay in this building be-"

"And whose fault is that?!" she snatched the bottle from his hand "mom and dad are champions... the Otashi family runs a damn Pokémon league. Everything that has to do with it is run by the family. Its tradition for a member of our family to get this kind of spot. There's no way to decline them... I can't stand it here. Why can't people just leave me alone?" Wyatt handed her a glass of water to help take the medicine

"You are a gym leader. The strongest, in fact" she peaked into his bored eyes staring down without a care of what she has to say "you have to set an example"

"Example, my ass" she grabbed the glass and walked pass him to the door

"You still need to take your blood pressure"

"Fuck off" the large hallways she walked through consisted of many windows that almost had a hard time handling the harsh wind. She stopped walking to stare at the magnificent winds traveling southwest, towards the rest of the region and away from her corner of the land

She didn't care much about the people who are experiencing her forest's snowy winds, nor the people who have to go through it to reach her gym. In fact, she didn't care about them at all. Even if knowing there's a world out there full of them, there's never a time where she doesn't imagine what it's like to leave the castle walls. Wishing one day she can leave without her annoying butler to tell her what to do all the time, it's impossible with her frail condition he has to take care of

"It's beautiful to look at," Wyatt said, releasing her from her daydream. She kept her eyes looking through the storm, staring at the town as much as she could behind the winds "but it's a dangerous thing to get near... like you" he joked halfheartedly. She rolled her eyes at the terrible joke and proceeded through the hallway to head to the main room downstairs, where her guest should be. The maids who keep the castle clean should be keeping them company, or just guard them so they wouldn't roam around as they please. If it wasn't for being a gym leader, Crystal would have kept that gate close and never look back

Making her way down the stairs with her heels tapping against the wood, she spotted the heavy coated trainer sitting on a lone chair next to the fireplace with a cup of warm chocolate, perhaps. Crystal narrowed her eyes, not liking the presence of another person she didn't know, and stopped midway through the stairs with a loud stomp that made the trainer nearly drop her cup. The maids around the main room spotted their master and bowed in the form of respect. The trainer stood up and did the same, looking nervous

Crystal stood there, observing the trainer as much as she could before making her way to the closest window to look up at the misty sky "it should be coming soon... and that's when the storm will stop" she spoke to herself

"U-Um..." the trainer stuttered. Crystal stayed in place before turning to the trainer walking up to her. Her dress swayed with her movement, creating an intimidation of her serious expression she gave her for coming forward without permission. Aside from feeling threatened with the expression, the trainer was almost taken back by her beauty

"Oh wow... You're so beautiful" not expecting that sudden compliment, Crystal cleared her throat and tried hiding her blush as much as she could

"What brings you all the way to my castle in the middle of such a strong storm? You are aware that there's a specific time the Frost Forest's storm settles down, right? There must be something in it for you to not want to wait and risk going through it like an idiot" the trainer lowered her thick hood and stood tall with a confident, yet nervous look on her face

"You're the 7th gym leader of Kannena, right?" Crystal sighed

"That figures... Yes, I am, but I'm also the last" the girl became confused while Wyatt gestured Crystal to sit on her throne-like chair to check her blood pressure. Crystal groaned annoyed and obeyed, letting him have his way. She looked back at the green-eyed trainer staring at Crystal like she was some princess sitting on her royal chair

"So if you're the 7th gym leader, does that mean you're the 8th as well?" the trainer asked

"If you want to put it like that, then yes" Crystal rested on her elbow "my family didn't have enough family members in the proper age group to take the position" Wyatt purposely tightened the arm strap, making her automatically slap his head "watch it!" he ignored her and proceeded on without a word. Crystal looked back at the trainer surprised by the hit "since you're asking, I can only guess you've only came here to challenge me" she nodded

"Y-Yes! I am Rhea Kimana!" Crystal and Wyatt froze for a moment, staring directly at her "and I would like to challenge you to a Pokémon battle on behalf of the Kimana Family!" Crystal smirked and crossed her legs as soon as the arm strap was removed

"A Kimana, huh?" Wyatt snorted, putting everything away "good luck with that, kid" he walked off, confusing the trainer while Crystal bounced her leg on her other knee, amused

"On behalf of your family? So you only came for their sake, not yours" she darkened her eyes in a sinister way "Again with this mess... don't you have anything else better to do? Doesn't your family own the Battle Towers or something?" Rhea gulped at the dark aura Crystal was releasing

"Yes, but we're tired of being made fun of by the Pokémon league! So as the eldest daughter of the Tower Champions, I came to represent!" Crystal stood up immediately and stood over to tower her

"Making fun of you? Are you stupid?" Crystal stepped back and crossed her arms "how dull are you? You realize nothing, do you? Do you even want to become champion of the league? Or did you only come to try and humiliate us?"

"W-Well..." Crystal peaked over at Wyatt leaning against the wall

"Tell me" she spoke, "how were your battles against my sisters?"

"Actually, they didn't put much of a fight. I honestly thought they'd be stronger than this. Especially if they put themselves out to be strong trainers"

"Well then, show me your badges" Crystal opened her hand. Rhea was hesitant but eventually handed them over. Crystal threw the case at Wyatt, who caught it without a glance and observed them. He walked over to face Rhea sweating nervously, though knows she shouldn't be

"These are fake, ma'am," Wyatt said. Rhea's face grew pale

"N-No... that shouldn't be true! I battled every gym leader!" Crystal took the case to observe them herself

"I believe you" Rhea's shoulders dropped "but you didn't really defeat them"

"W-What!?"

"The Badge's quality... My sisters wouldn't make their battle easy and sweet. If they put all their effort into the battle, these wouldn't be given to you as a fake. The battle meant nothing. What I believe is that they only let you pass so you can come all the way here and face me" Rhea's jaw dropped a bit "As to be expected, I am the gym leader who keeps challengers away from the league. I'll be honest. If you said you had a hard time trying to defeat my sisters, things would've been different. But since that wasn't the case, I don't want to waste my time battling a weakling like you. Your intentions are not true at heart. The battle you wish to have is nothing more than revenge. I don't have time to waste with the likes of someone like you. I must ask you to leave" Crystal turned her back

"What!? You can't do that!"

"I just did" Crystal prepared to head towards the stairs before her skirt was pulled on

"No, you can't! It's against the rules for a gym leader to refuse a challenge!" Crystal snatched her skirt back, giving a look of disapproval

"Actually, it is against the rules to demand a challenge from someone that's not worthy. Does it really look like I care if I don't follow the rules either way? If you truly want a gym battle from me, you're going to regret it and start crying... it happened before" her voice became unsympathetic and emotionless "The league looks at the determined trainers who really want to become a champion. The look in your eyes says it all. If you cannot take this seriously, if you're not serious about doing this for yourself, then there's no point in trying to convince you that you are a joke" Rhea started shaking

"After all I've been through! After all that traveling through the region! You're going to do this to me!?" Crystal walked away without looking back, followed by Wyatt

"I'm sure it wasn't a complete loss. I'm sorry I had to be the one to break the news" she giggled "On second thought, I'm glad I was the one. You've wasted your time. Our family is known for knowing The eyes of others. Your eyes, they don't see potential, they see revenge. I have no interest in talking to you any longer. I'll be nice enough to say when the storm lifts, my maids will help escort you out once you're warm enough. Once that times comes soon, Take your leave as soon as possible"

"You've done it again..." Rhea glared, beginning to shout "You're only trying to make a fool of us! If I never told you my last name, you would have fought me, right?!"

"Actually, I wouldn't have fought you anyways. Like I said, your eyes... They see revenge only. I said it before and I'll say it again, you're a joke. If you really are determined to become a champion for yourself, I like to see that, but then again... you're angry with me. IT is very obvious. There's no changing the look on your face. I'm sorry, but not sorry... I have better things to do than to play around with someone who's not serious" she left the room, leaving the silence behind. Rhea shouted angrily, making her voice echo across the entire castle

"You'll regret this! Come back here and battle me! Battle me!" Crystal giggled, staring out the window with Wyatt by her side

"She was so shy at first. Look at her now, demanding a battle. Who does she think she's fooling?"

"You didn't have to lie like that"

"What? The girls did their jobs. They battled her because it's against the rules to reject a battle. They knew how she felt about all this, and they wanted to bring her here as soon as possible" she stopped at the window she faced before to see the blue sparkling bird flying across the forest and lift the storm making a barrier to hide her home in the daytime "they know I couldn't care less about losing my position. So breaking rules isn't that big of a deal for me. I'm not challenging that girl. Not because of her name, but because she's trying to make a fool out of our family. Her eyes says it all"

"I didn't know you cared so much about your family" Wyatt smiled a little. A little surprised to see him actually smile instead of giving her a bland respond and bored expression, Crystal picked up her heavy warm dress and jogged to her room to open the large window and let in her special legendary that protects the borders of the forest. Its beautiful body flew inside with a box in its claws, dropping it into Wyatt's hands. It rested on the wooden playground high on her ceiling

Her room was made as a playground for all her Pokémon. The bottom half is her room, and the top half having multiple beds and space to play. Crystal smiled a little at the legendary before closing the window

"Don't do anything reckless like that" Wyatt said, picking her clothes out for her bath "you could have an episode"

"Nothing is going to happen. You worry too much"

"I wouldn't say 'worry too much' you know what happens" not wanting to think about it, Crystal snatched her clothes away

"It doesn't get to the point where I need you looking through my things!"

"There's nothing you have that I haven't seen" she covered her body, embarrassed and completely red

"Don't be a pervert!" He snorted, pocketing his hands

"Out of all people, you're calling me a pervert?" she pushed him out her room

"I don't need you here! Go back home!" She slammed the door at his face "you're fired!"

"You're funny. I'll get dinner finished then" his footsteps faded away. She kicked the door frustrated and pouted, irritated. Her Pokémon frowned at her holding in her anger before taking a deep breath

"Calm down... don't need that anger making him think I'm incapable of taking care of myself" She sat against the door and leaned on her knees, watching her Castform floating towards her

Of course firing Wyatt wasn't an option. He was her caretaker and doctor. Even if she knows how to take care of herself, it's risky to keep him away for too long. Even when taking her medication properly, she doesn't exactly know what she'll do without him. Only a year older, he's the most important person living in the castle and the only one who understands her condition the most

"Don't worry, I'm fine" Crystal sighed and stood up to take a bath by herself, without Wyatt in the same room while reading a book like he does sometimes

The Otashi family didn't like the idea of Crystal wanting to be on her own, taking that she's been hospitalized for so many years. It wasn't until Wyatt came from his long journey just to be by her side. She appreciates that he was the one that helped her get out the hospital, but either way... she's still trapped within walls

The warm water set nicely on her delicate skin. Her blue glossy eyes stared at it falling from her pale arm as she begun washing it with soap, hating and embarrassed to remember that Wyatt would often help her wash her body even when she refuses. It was the matter of not bathing gently enough back then that had him worry that she may damage the skin she had to take care of more than usual. Having to convince him that she's trying to be easy on herself, it wasn't until a few months ago that she's been having the bathroom to herself

"Stupid Wyatt..." she mumbled and sank herself into the bathtub, holding her breath and hug her small body. She kept a hand on the edge of the tub to help her up just in case she slips

Keeping her eyes closed, she could remember those days in the hospital as a kid when she stared out the window to see the open world in front of her. A world she wished she could have ran through and not have someone tell her to be careful. Already knowing her body, no matter what... she'll always have someone right behind her watching her every move

Her thoughts traveled back to what happened earlier, of that girl... Rhea Kimana. Her eyes were filled with anger after what Crystal said, but even before that, it was clear that Rhea's eyes didn't hold the potential of making an individual dream. Her dedication came from seeking revenge for her family. She claimed that the Otashi family made a fool of hers, but that wasn't the case

For generations, the Otashi family owned the Pokémon league and many of their blood-related members are part of that.

The Kimana family were champions of the Battle Towers and could go long in battle without taking a break. They were admired by the region, but the Otashis were always a step above them. The Kimanas grew in jealousy, but it was nothing the Otashi family cared about. The two families were in a sort of rivalry, but then again they weren't...

"I heard that family are full of 'jump to the conclusion' people... that girl had a right to be mad at me though, but I don't care. She should be mad at my sisters for not taking her seriously... oh well" Crystal smirked and stood up, letting the cold air hit her skin

"You should be careful about how fast you stand in the tub" Wyatt said out of nowhere, holding up a towel for her. The young princess screamed, covering herself and threw a bottle of shampoo towards him. He caught it without hesitation, though didn't expect her to throw her entire collection, and dodged for his life

"Wyatt! Who said you could come in!? I told you to give me privacy!" She ran out of things to throw and sat in the water again

"Like I said, there's nothing you have that I haven't seen before. Privacy isn't an option when it comes to your health and safety. Get out of there before you catch a cold. You've been there for too long. Did you fall asleep?" She didn't answer, making him sigh "so you were spaced out, am I right?" She climbed out and let him cover her with the towel, pouting angrily "don't make that face, it'll get stuck that way"

"Oh my Arceus! If I wanted to live with my parents! I would have! Stop babying me, Wyatt!"

"You act like a baby, so I can't help it" he pinched her cheeks with a smirk and walked out "you should know better than anyone that you shouldn't be ashamed of anything with me" she turned away "we grew up together, after all"

"I'm still a woman. I need you to respect what I need, and what I need is privacy" he bowed

"I wouldn't have come in here if you didn't take an hour in that tub"

"Well-" she didn't think she took that long

"Dinner is ready, don't take too long. The way you are makes it harder for me to stop watching you like a child. Learn to be careful and maybe I'll let you have some freedom" he stared at her not responding. She always has something to say, always wanting the last word.

He walked back to her to take her chin and see the pink color on her cheeks, breath thickening, eyes heavy and her skin was becoming hot "and this is why I can't take my eyes off you for a second. Stupid girl" he dried her completely and dressed her before taking her to bed "I'll be back with dinner" she huffed and turned to lay on her side, hearing the door close

"This sucks... Why did I have to get a fever like this in the middle of our conversation?" now it's going to take longer to get her freedom

This story had been in my drafts for the longest and I decided to finally put in the first chapter. The description was already there and I got a new notebook so I decided to write down all the descriptions of the stories I abandoned. I really liked the description of this story so I decided to start writing it! There's a lot more to this story. So stay near to see what'll happen! Though this story will take a bit longer to finish, there are 50 chapters I have to edit and a few more I have to create. I'm sure you'll be patient... I'm always the lateone. Bye now!
