or an alternate universe in which mare barrow leaves everything behind and chooses maven. but she soon finds out it might not have been her best decision yet.

notes: this is set right before cal and mare are sent into the arena during "red queen". when maven offers to save mare and she refuses. so he tells her she could have been his red queen.

except what if she would have accepted?

what if she thought it was the best way to save everyone? she could love maven and convince him to spare her family and friends. maybe even cal if she's lucky. in this alternate universe she decides to be by his side, and he takes her away with him, leaving cal to face the arena on his own.

i know this sounds kind of selfish of mare to do. but we have to think that she's trying to help everyone she loves. she still kind of trusts maven and thinks that she can sway him to be good.

maybe she can dissolve the cloud of his mother's influence over him.

this is a rewrite of a 5sos fanfic i wrote a really long time ago. but i will change the names and places to fit the characters in red queen.

i really wanted to write a cal fanfic next since i absolutely adore him and i am torn between both calore brothers like mare is. but all the plots that come to my mind fit maven more because he's angsty and i love angst and bad boys. i will find a good plot for my precious cal though. 

he deserves some love and a fanfic written about him. it can only be a matter of time. for now, let me bask in my maven feels.

since i just finished reading book one, i both love and hate him at the moment.
