Just as Charlene was beginning to give up on doing anything that day, her phone rang. She looked at it in surprise before she read the name, she wasn't expecting any one to try and call, being that everyone appeared to be busy. Then she read the name.
Maybeck❤️ it read. She'd die if anyone ever saw the heart she had next to his name. She picked up the phone a little too excitedly and answered, hoping that it wasn't an accidental call.
"Hey!"she said, spirits lifted by the call.
"Hey Charlie, super bored. You busy?"Maybeck spoke in his usual casual voice. Charlene's heart fluttered.
"No.. As a matter of fact I'm pretty bored too... None of the girls could go out today,"she responded, the excitement from the unexpected phone call was masked by the slight disappointment of the days earlier events.
"Oh. Well, what where you guys going to do? Maybe me and you can...I mean we're both bored out of our minds and...."
Charlene's heart stopped. She hadn't gotten to see Maybeck alone in forever and she didn't even think he'd be interested in hanging out with her, and just her.
"We were gonna go to the mall, but I doubt you'd want to do that. If there's-" Maybeck cut her off,"No! That sounds fine! Um you think I can maybe pick you in an hour...?"he paused then continued,"Or you meet me there or...."Maybeck, the ever casual and fearless seemed excited and nervous. Charlene also couldn't help noticing that he had yet to make a sarcastic comment.
Charlene was full of excitement and failed at trying to hide it while she spoke,"Ok!! See you at my place in an hour?"
"Got it. See ya soon." The hung up. Charlene squealed and texted Willa privately.
Sry, Ik your in study group, but I had to tell you! Me and Terry are going to the mall together in an hour. Just us!!! She got a response quicker than she expected.
