Chapter 20: Arriving
It was a blizzard and both Mai and Webby were nearly frozen. Mai took her heavy jacket off and gave it to Webby, seeing her freezing.
"Mai, you need this! I have my own coat..." Webigal tried to argue and Mai declined, shaking her head and putting it on her. She used her light and her fire magic to keep herself and some others warm. Even then it wasn't enough for her.
"Sora..." She stumbled forward and fell in the snow. She could not find any feeling in her limbs, but of what she could feel of her body, it was really icy cold. Numb, of what the rest of her body said. She closed her eyes and heard Webby's voice like it was a far cry.

"Get her warmth!" A male voice cut through the unconscious darkness. Mai slightly opened her eyes and looked around. She saw three soldiers. One was fat, one was skinny, and one was short. The fat one put a blanket on the red head, who was coming around.
"W-web... Webigal...?" She asked, wondering where she was.
"Don't worry. She's in good hands with Ping and Sora." The skinny said, "I'm Ling."
"I'm Chien-po." The fat one said.
"And I'm Yao!" The fat one said and Mai sat up, holding her head.
"My name... is Mai, I... I am the... Twilight Princess." She said and the boys widened their eyes.
"The Twilight Princess?" Chein-po excitedly asked, "I thought that was just a myth..."
"Pfft, please..." Yao looked at Mai, "I suppose you cast all sorts of spells?" Him and Ling laughed and Mai smirked.
"Want to... test that?" She darkly chuckled and closed her eyes. Her light surrounded her and disappeared. There in her place was an angel, more specifically her Caelum Form. Her hair and clothes were white but her eyes were actually a bit brighter. White wings appeared on her back. "You were... s-saying?"
The boys had a stunned look on their face and Mai turned back.
"Um... I think we believe you know..." Yao said, "I didn't picture the princess would be so tall."
"You got a problem with tall, shortie?" Mai glared at him and cracked her knuckles. Yao gulped at this.
"N-no, just about to say..." He paused as if he was trying to think, "Um... Well, uh... You're an angel, just as the prophecies-"
"Mai!" The redhead turned her head to see Donald and Goofy running to her.
"Donald! Goofy!" Mai hopped off the bed she was in and stood. "Guys, where's Webby and Sora?"
"They went to get curatives and ask for more supplies with Ping." Goofy said cheerfully and Mai sighed in relief.
"So how do you know Sora, Donald, and Goofy?" Ling asked, curious to know why or how.
"Oh, we're actually from somewhere else far away!" Donald said, lying and Mai gulped nervously.
"Y-yeah! But still in China!" She giggled nervously. Thank goodness the other three were dump enough to believe it.
"We should get you in the army!" Yao said and Ling shook his head.
"But she's a girl, and a princess! The captain might not except..." The skinny man said.
"Never know until we try." Chein-po said and Mai samiled.
"Who's you're captain?" She asked and Chein-po nodded.
"Right this way." He led her to the place the captain was in and he saw her, sighing.
"Thank goodness you are okay. You were passed out due to the coldness and you almost died." He said. "Your friend told us you gave up your coat for her, correct?"
"Yes, sir." She nodded. "She is still young and I vowed to protect her with all my heart, sir."
"I see..."
"Captain, she is also the Twilight Princess." Chein-po informed and the captain widened his eyes.
"THE Twilight Princess?" The captain looked deep into her eyes. Mai nervously shifted and tried not to look away but did. But the captain saw a glimpse of her heart before she did. "My ancestors... You ARE the one and only..."
"Can she be in the army?" Chien-po asked, "If word got out that the princess is here, they will rejoice."
"Of course. That will be one less thing China can no longer worry about." The captain smiled.
"What about Webby?" Mai asked and he blinked.
"Excuse me?"
"I promised her granny I would take care of her, sir." She said, putting a hand on her chest. "She's my responsibility, I understand, but she is an extraordinary fighter."
"Hm..." He closed his eyes and crossed his arms, "So you're supposed to watch her?"
"Yes sir."
"...Very well. She may stay with us." He said and she let out a sigh of relief. "Here in China, we all have our own prophecies for the Twilight Princess so she can fulfill them. According to the legends, the Princess' ancestors come from here after the worlds divided. They were destined to leave, but the princess was sure to return someday."
"Wow..." She felt her heart, "...So my ancestors lived here?"
"Yes. They lived in a small village- something similar to this-- on the mountains." The captain of the imperials said smiling and she sighed, rubbing her temples.
"Ugh, this is too much for me..." The redhead rubbed her neck and sighed, trying to process all of this. "So... My ancestors were possibly here?"
"It... is a possibility, yes..." He said, scratching his head. "It's weird, really..."
"Huh? What?" Mai asked, curious.
"I pictured you more mature..." He said holding his chin and she raised her eyebrows. "The prophecy of the Imperial City said you would be so."
"Oh, uh-"
"My people's prophecy stated she was shorter." Chein-po said and Mai cringed.
"W-well, I was short-"
"My people said she was supposed to be blonde girl with blue eyes. It identifies the true innocence and purity of a person." Ling said, coming in the room with Yao.
"I heard she would wear a white dress! An appearance of an angel, if you ask my people." Yao said and Mai was starting to feel like she was out of place and overwhelmed. She teared up and ran out, whimpering.
"Princess!" The four said, calling out to her.
She ran out to the snow covered streets. Her breathing was fast and she needed to escape like yesterday. She looked around the village for her light. The one who can calm her down.
"Hey, did I hear the two boys right?" A woman's voice said and she jumped, looking at the woman. She was accompanied by a few villagers. "I can sense you have a strong heart! You must be her!"
"Wha-"
"Please complete our prophecy!" One villager said.
"Please give us more wealth and food by purifying our land!" Another one said and tears fell.
"I... I guess I can try but I'm not sure if I can..." Mai nervously gulped and bit her lip.
"Don't worry! We know you can!" The woman said, "Come on over to our fountain!"
The people pushed her to the fountain and people had gathered around for this certain occasion. Ping, Sora, and Webby were just finishing with their shopping when they saw all the people gathering.
"What's going on?" Sora asked confused.
"I don't know..." Ping frowned, trying to see through the crowds. Webby climbed to Sora's shoulders.
"Do you see anything, Webby?" The Brunette asked and she hummed in response. She suddenly gasped.
"I see Mai!" Webby said pointing ahead, "She's climbing on top of the fountain!"
"Haven't you heard?" A man said to Sora, "The Twilight Princess is supposed to end our land's infertility!"
"What? How told you that?" Ping asked.
"Our prophecy! Let's see, your a soldier so doesn't your people have prophecies?" The man asked.
"I never even heard of any prophecies." Ping raised an eyebrow.
"Mai's supposed to be helping you guys?" Sora asked the man and he nodded.
"People of the village! The time has come!" An elder woman said, "For years, our land had a low fertility. Today, it all changes! The princess foretold has come to save our land!"
Mai looked up at the sky and nervously gulped, 'Mom, please help me...' she closed her eyes and laid her hand down on the fountain. A green light surrounded the whole thing and then spreaded to the ground through the snow. She looked down and blinked, "Hm?"
Soon the light disappeared. The villagers were surprised to see the snow still there. The elder woman picked up some of the snow, "Does... fertile land mean snow can be on the ground? In the prophecy, we didn't have the snow..."
Mai bit her lip and hopped off the fountain, running off. Sora saw the tears streaming down here face. He ran after her, calling her name. However, she couldn't hear since she blocked out everything and transformed into her Caelum Form.
"Webby, stay with Ping..." Sora handed Webby to Ping. As she was taking off Sora grabbed her ankle, "Mai, wait! I'm here!"
"Sora..." The redhead meakly as her wings flopped to remain in the air. She wasn't looking at him and he tried his best to hang on. He could tell she wanted to leave. She gently floated to the ground as he hugged her. He looked around and left with her to see if they can have a hotel room to themselves. They checked in and Mai fell to her knees, hugging him. Her head rested on his stomach and she sniffed.
"Sora?"
"Yeah?"
"I wish I wasn't the Twilight Princess..."
