Before the game was released, Nomura made sketches of how Sora was going to look like. The original concept art of Sora is up above and seems to be a lion/human hybrid carrying a chainsaw like sword.

Disney didnt really approve of this so Nomura made the keyblade as his primary weapon and made his costume similiar to Mickey: white gloves, red shorts, and yellow shoes.

I guess you can say Disney didn't like Nomura LION around and they said he MOUSE change it.
