The paopu fruit is an actual fruit but is actually called a carambola. It is popular in eastern and southeastern parts of Asia.
This fruit also grows in tropical areas such as parts in South and Central America.
And if you live in the United States and want some, I hear that Florida also grow Carambolas.

I am assuming it has a taste out of this world.
