Chapter 46: Old and New Faces

Was it day or night? No one could tell, mostly because there were no windows in this library. In fact, all that was is in this library were books that hadn't been used in quite some time, evident by the dust that covered most of them.

No one had been in this library for a long time, and yet there was only one individual; a man with white hair, a blue robe, a katana at his side, and a look in his eyes that contained little-to-no emotion whatsoever.

Ever since his defeat at the hands of Drake and Fairy Tail, he had been looking for ways to obtain more demonic power for himself. He knew that was the real reason for his defeat; his younger brother with his new evolved Devil Trigger; that was a power even he could not match.

He knew that was the only reason; any talk on bonds, hearts, or humanity from the other Fairy Tail members were meaningless as he singlehandedly defeated their strongest members.

Power was the only thing that mattered in this world, if he was to rule both Earthland, the Demon Realm, and other worlds across the universe; he realized that he simply needed more than what he had at his disposal, nothing more than that.

As Vali read a book, the silence of the library was broken by the sound of footsteps of another man from the shadows that walked closer toward him.

???: So, you're looking for the book of ancient legends. The tale of the demon warrior Sparda. Or perhaps, you're looking for the ancient Book of Prophecies? The tale of the first Keyblade War.

Vali closed the book and put it back on the shelf, not even looking at this newcomer as he responded.

Vali: Neither of those is what I'm looking for. Leave me.

The man stepped into a more illuminated area; revealing himself to be a man who wore a black suit, carried a book, bore pale skin with no hair, his right eye being blue and his left eye being red, with a large burn mark on the left side of his face.

Man: Then what are you looking for? (walks closer to Vali) A demon that impregnates a woman, who then bares twin sons. That's the story, isn't it?

In a flash, Vali drew Yamato and pointed it directly at the man, the blade two inches from his nose, and yet Vali did not make eye contact.

Vali: Leave me. I won't tell you a third time.

Oddly, the man didn't seem intimidated by this at all.

Man: People, inherently fear evil and darkness.

He slowly but gently grabbed the blade and ran his thumb along it.

Man: However...

He ran his thumb, despite it cutting and bleeding on the ground.

Man: ...Occasionally, a person may become seduced by evil.

Vali looked curiously toward this man; there was something about him that was quite intriguing. He pulled Yamato away and sheathed it.

Vali: How did you know about the Keyblade?

Man: All in due time. Knowledge comes in many shapes or forms, and the knowledge about the Keyblade is not lost on me.

Vali: What are you getting at?

The man bowed his head almost humbly.

Man: Share with me, the story of Sparda and the Keyblade. My knowledge of the weapon is not lost, yet I wish to know more about it.

The scar on the left side of his face seemed to pulsate. Vali raised his eyebrow; perhaps this man could be of use to him after all.

*with Kairi and Lea*

Deep within a massive forest during a sunset, a girl with auburn hair, blue eyes, a pale complexion, and a necklace with a silver bead was writing on a notepad. That girl's name is Kairi.

She has been friends with Sora and Riku for a longtime and because of that, she has been a target for the forces of darkness. She is also one of the Seven Princesses of Heart, maidens that have no darkness and have the power to unlock the Final Door. She is currently training to become a Keyblade Master in order to fight Master Xehanort.

Kairi's Letter: I'm sorry I left without saying good-bye. Did Master Yen Sid tell you? I'm training to become a Keyblade wielder like you. That's right. No more waiting for you to come back from your adventures. I want to get out there and do my part to help. Merlin has used his magic to bring us to a place where time doesn't matter. We can take as long as we need to complete our training. He's an amazing wizard. Oh, and by "us," I mean me and Lea. He's really sorry for all the trouble he caused. I told him it's fine, but he won't stop apologizing. I'll admit I was a little scared of him at first, but I've gotten to know him better. All he ever wanted was to help his friend. Honestly, it's hard not to like him. Every now and then, I catch him staring at me. When I ask what's wrong, he says, "I'm not sure. I think I'm forgetting something. Don't know what." Sora, I think it may have something to do with you. Your journey is all about helping people: some that you've never met before, and some like Lea that you have. They're all counting on you. It won't be easy, but I hope you'll remain the happy and cheerful Sora I know. There's no heart your smile can't reach.

She finishes writing and hears footsteps. Turning to her right, she notices a young man standing next to her.

He has fair skin with rosy hues, a widow's peak, rather small eyebrows and thick, shoulder-length, bright red hair styled into slicked-back spikes. His eyes are a bright emerald color. That man's name is Lea or Axel.

He lived in Radiant Garden as Lea with his friend Isa, but they became Heartlesses during Xehanort's experiments. Their bodies took the form of Nobodies, Lea was Axel and Isa was Saix, and both join the first Organization XIII. But Axel betrayed them in order to save his best friend, Roxas, with the cost of his life. Now with Lea fully restored, he is training alongside Kairi to become a Keyblade Master in order to fight Xehanort.

Like she mentioned before, he was staring at her for some reason.

Kairi: What's wrong?

Lea: (blinks a few times) Huh? Nothin', sorry.

Kairi: Lea.

Lea: What? I am.

Kairi simply giggles while Lean takes a seat on a rock across from her. He then notices the notepad and wonders what she's doing.

Lea: A letter?

Kairi: Yep.

Lea: To Sora?

Kairi: Mmm, technically yes. But I won't send it. It's more for me.

Lea: Ask Merlin. He'll deliver it for you.

Kairi: Yeah, but it's okay. I just like talking to Sora, even if it's on paper.

Lea: Okay. (thinks for a bit but then remembers) Oh! (pulls out two sea-salt ice cream bars) Here.

Kairi: Ice cream? Really?

Lea: Yeah, I asked Merlin to pick these up. Ya know, we did both summon Keyblades. Gotta celebrate.

Kairi: (accepts one) You're sweet, Lea.

Lea: (chuckles) Naw... Also, Merlin said that some people are coming to help us train.

Kairi: Really? Who are they?

Lea: He didn't say. Guess will find out when they come.

Kairi: Okay...

Kairi started to eat her Ice cream while Lea just kept staring at her, with a serious look on his face.

Kairi: (notices Lea staring again) What?

Lea: N-Nothing, I just...

Kairi: You're trying to remember what you forgot?

Lea: Well, I, uh... Yeah... yeah. Let's talk about something else.

Kairi: Sure. I heard that there's a new wielder with us.

Lea: Yeah. From the way Yen Sid talked about him being the Son of Sparda, he sounds really powerful. I just hope he doesn't get into any shenanigans with Sora. (both laugh)

Kairi: I hope we get to meet him soon. So tomorrow—you and me in the ring. You ready?

Lea: Course.

Kairi: Don't hold back, Lea. Promise?

Lea turns to face her, but something happens that he didn't expect. Instead of seeing Kairi, he was a girl with short black hair, blue eyes, and a black Organization coat. Even though he doesn't remember her, this was Xion.

It causes him to grow a shocked expression and drop his ice cream. And unknown to him, tears fall down his face. Kairi sees this and grows concern.

Kairi: Huh? Are you ok? Lea!

Lea: (wipes tears away) Yeah... sorry...

Kairi: You're crying. What's wrong?

Lea: (not wanting to worry her) Something in my eyes.

Kairi: Lea...

Lea: (stands up) I'm...gonna go. Sorry.

Kairi: 'Kay, but stop apologizing.

Lea: Fine...on one condition.

Kairi: What?

Lea: Call me Axel from now on. Got it memorized.

Kairi: (smiles) Yeah. Okay, Axel.

With that being said, Axel heads back to their training grounds and Kairi's left alone. She's still concerned on what he might've seen. But, the question is; what exactly was it?

*Radiant Garden*

On the former world of Hollow Bastion, Riku, Mickey, and the Earthland wizards were being led by Dilan (formerly Xaldin) to the plaza just outside the castle gates.

He was one of the people who founded Xehanort and one of the people who were turn into Heartless. His Nobody was Xaldin, one of the Nobodies who founded the Organization, but Xaldin met his end by Sora. Dilan has now been revived and is continuing his post as palace guard.

They had traveled to the worlds Aqua was on, and found her last sighting here.

Dilan: This was where we found Xehanort years ago.

Yukino: Thank you, sir Dilan.

Dilan: Let me know if you require more assistance. Right now, I need to return to my post and assist Mermaid Heel with anything.

Dilan then left to return to the castle.

Mickey: So this is the place.

Riku: Where Aqua fell into the realm of darkness after she dove in to save Terra.

Mickey: Yeah, she said he was acting strange.

Minerva: How strange?

Mickey: She sensed darkness in him, and they ended up getting into a big fight.

Riku: Right. And in the aftermath, the two of them disappeared. Around the same time, the guards found a stranger with white hair lying unconscious here in the square—a man calling himself "Xehanort."

Sawyer: What happened next?

As they're explaining to Sabertooth and Crime Sorciére, different scenes of Xehanort and his other versions of himself were shown.

Mickey: Ansem the Wise took the stranger in, but that was a mistake. Xehanort betrayed his master, stole his research, and along with his fellow apprentices, separated his heart from his body.

Erik: Isn't that like what Acnologia did when he ate the Time Rift?

Jellal: No. This Xehanort meant to do this while Acnologia didn't know the consequences of eating the Space between Time.

Riku: Space between Time? Acnologia?

Rufus: The Space Between Time or Time Rift is a magical dimension deviated from the power of 'nothingness'. Acnologia was a Dragon Slayer and the King of the Dragons. He had slaughtered many dragons as retribution, as he believe they cause pain. But, the seven Dragon Slayers of Fiore defeated him.

Richard: He was really powerful when his body and soul were separated.

Mickey: Amazing. Anyway, Xehanort's heart took his master's name, "Ansem," and traveled to the past to give his younger self instructions. He even briefly had control of Riku. His empty body stayed in the present, took the name Xemnas, and founded Organization XIII. Their goal was to prepare thirteen vessels for Xehanort's heart.

Riku: Until we put an end to the Organization. But all the while Young Xehanort had been visiting the future to choose thirteen vessels of his own—hearts with strong enough ties to him to begin a new Organization. The real Organization XIII.

Olga: And now they're looking for a fight with us.

Sting: But what happened to Terra? I thought you said that Aqua saved him.

Mickey: Yep, she did. The problem is we didn't notice. Riku, do you remember the end of the Mark of Mastery exam, when Master Xehanort made his grand return? That's the Xehanort I remember. He was already a pretty old man then. But how do you explain Ansem and Xemnas, his Heartless and his Nobody? Isn't it strange how young they look? Why aren't they old men?

Sorano: Maybe they got themselves a makeover?

Frosch: I think so too!

Lector: (sighs) I don't think that's it.

Mickey: No. It's because Xehanort was using a different body when the split happened. (remembers a portrait of Xehanort) That face from the portrait I mentioned—it wasn't just some stranger that Ansem the Wise took under his wing. It was the young man whose body Xehanort possessed.

Everyone then thinks about and was able to put the pieces together before they gasp.

Riku: No way! That was Terra? Master Xehanort was using Terra?

Mickey: Yep. Master Xehanort told us "another on our list" belonged to him. He was talking about Terra. Turns out, Aqua saved more than just her friend that day.

Meredy: She also had Xehanort stayed in this realm as well.

Riku: Okay, but Master Xehanort is an old man again now. Where did Terra's body go?

Macbeth: I'd like to know that myself.

Sting: This body switching thing is really confusing.

Mickey: Hmm... (realizes something) It's cause Xehanort's collecting vessels! He claimed to have two of our seven lights. We got Sora back, but Terra must still be on Xehanort's side.

Riku: He's with Organization XIII? We should warn Sora and Drake.

Mickey: Yep! And Merlin, too.

Riku: Yeah. (turns to Jellal) Hey, Jellal. Can you tell us more about the Time Rift?

Jellal: It's basically a black hole. When someone or something touches it, it disappears, forever. It was created when the Eclipse Gate was open by Anna and Layla Heartfilia in order to travel four hundred years into the future, along with five Dragon Slayers in order to defeat Acnologia.

Mickey: Are you planning on sending Xehanort there?

Jellal: That won't work. After Acnologia's defeat, it has been long gone.

Mickey: Okay, then could you tell us about the Eclipse Gate?

Rouge: The Eclipse Gate was a Magic Item created and used by combining Celestial Spirit Magic and a certain Magic from the Books of Zeref. It takes the form of a giant gate that enables people to travel through time when the sun and moon intersect in a Solar or Lunar Eclipse.

Sting: It was created by the Black Wizard Zeref and was used as part of a collaborative scheme between Zeref, the Celestial Spirit Mage Anna Heartfilia and the pacifist Dragons to defeat Acnologia.

Riku: Zeref?

Jellal: He was considered to be the strongest, most evil wizard of all time, who possesses extremely dangerous and powerful magic. He is the founder and former Emperor of the Alvarez Empire, under the name of Emperor Spriggan. He also used Living Magic to create demons called Etherious or Demons from the Books of Zeref. But he was defeated by Natsu during the war.

Riku: I wonder if he was as strong as Xehanort.

Mickey: Is the Eclipse still available?

Yukino: (shook her head) No. A year ago in Earthland, Fiore was hosting the Grand Magic Games and the kingdom was gather magic from everyone to power the gate. The gate is the subject for a plan known as the Eclipse Project. By using magic siphoned from the participants in the Grand Magic Games, the twelve keys and a Celestial Spirit wizard, the gate is set to open, allowing some individuals to travel back four hundred years in time where they would kill Zeref before he was cursed with immortality.

Rogue: The project was a cover for another plan, intended to avert the destruction of Fiore as told to Hisui E. Fiore by an individual who claimed to be from the future. This second plan involves making use of the large amount of magic stored within the gate over the past seven years. The second plan is known as the "Eclipse Cannon". This is actually a deception as the gate can't operate as a cannon. The moment the gate opened, a seven Dragons emerges and started wreaking havoc at Mercurius. The gate, however, was closed by both Lucy and Yukino, who, together, utilize the connection between the gate and the twelve Ecliptic Zodiac Keys. But, Natsu's last attack against a dragon results in the gate's destruction.

Riku: Earthland Magic is really amazing. Do you think Celestial Spirit Magic will be the key in ending the Organization?

Sorano: I don't know. Celestial Spirit Magic has amazing power and can be used to power ancient technology.

Macbeth: I would have to say Dragon Slaying Magic would be the best option.

Erik: Dragon Slaying Magic is a form of ancient magic and can hold unpredictable power.

Mickey: This will take sometime to find a trump card. But right now, we should tell the others about Terra.

Everyone: Right!

Elsewhere

The aforementioned elder son of Sparda stood alongside his new associate, the same man he met in the library, in front of some ruins, a large staircase led to a large door.

Man: The activation method is as I described before. It should be a simple matter for you.

Vali: Arkham. Do you take me for a fool?

Arkham: How do you mean?

Vali: You are aware the seven demon guardians, whose names my father confiscated, to seal it away, have somehow found methods of escaping their imprisonment.  I have slain one, while my brother has slain the rest.

What Vali said was true. He acquired the Beowulf Devil Arm, while Drake got the Devil Arms Cerberus, Agni & Rudra, and Nevan, as well as the styles Quicksilver and Doppelganger.

Vali: How they escaped is beyond me. But without the demons to be given the names of their sins, the tower cannot be activated. Therefore it is rendered inoperable. Perhaps my father purposely made it that way, so if the demons were killed, this place would remain sealed.

Arkham: I am indeed aware of this. However, there is more than one way to open the door. We must find seven beings who can not only bare the same level as power, but whose souls are also compatible with the Seven Deadly Sins.

Vali: Finding demons that powerful could be problematic.

Arkham: Who said they had to be demons?

Vali: (raised his eyebrow)

Arkham: The souls of man can also be corrupted, in some cases, certain humans can wield even greater darkness than some demons. In fact, I believe I know the perfect individuals to serve our mutual goal.

Vali looked toward Arkham suspiciously.

Vali: It would seem you have this all figured out. Why not simply acquire the power for yourself? Why did you come to me?

Arkham: Because our goal is a mutual one. Rather than fighting each other to gain this power, we can work together to obtain it and spare a great deal of trouble, as well our efforts combined will serve a better opposition to those who would stand against us, whom are not to be underestimated. After all, you were indeed defeated by your brother and a human guild.

Vali gave a subtle glare toward Arkham.

Vali: What is your point?

Arkham: This will no doubt attraction of several interlopers, your brother and Fairy Tail, being the most likely. If we are to stand against such a guild, we must form one of our own.

Vali looked toward Arkham with a subtle surprise in his cold eyes.

Vali: Form our own guild? Do you think that is wise? Such an action will attract more attention than just my brother and Fairy Tail, but also the Keyblade wielders of light and Organization XIII.

Arkham: Do you fear these pests?

Vali: No, I simply do not wish to deal with inconvenient annoyances.

The truth was, Vali could easily rid himself of the Keyblade wielders and even some of the higher ups in the Organization. Though Master Xehanort could be a challenge, but Vali was certain he could take him.

Arkham: A necessary risk. This will be the only way we can resurrect the tower.

Vali did not respond, which was all Arkham needed.

Arkham: (turns to leave) I shall gather the seven. As well as any lesser demons that will likely follow us. You should dispose of any obstacles quickly.

In just a few seconds after Arkham left, four creatures began to emerge from the ground around Vali. These demons were red and white, the colors pulsating around them, and appeared to bare some form of energy-scythe.

Vali looked to acknowledge their presence, but wasn't intimated in the least. They all tried to jump him and cut him to pieces, but Vali quickly used his sheathed blade to block their weapons before he fluently drew Yamato...

*SLICE!*

One of the demons was sliced in half down the middle, causing it to fall apart and die. He blocked the attack of the second demon before slicing it diagonally, while quickly turning back with the two demons coming toward him, cutting them both in half, killing them as well.

In less than a minute, these four demons that would terrify any normal person were cut down like confetti. But, not soon after, more demons emerged from the ground and quickly attacked Vali.

He easily swerved to avoid a vertical slice from one demon, before slicing it in half. Three more tried to jump him at the same time, but he gave a roundhouse to knock them all into the air before he flashed past them with his blade, and all three fell apart into literal shreds less than a second later.

Only a select few demons remained, like before, he dealt with them rather quickly. He rushed past them before they could even blink with his outstretched katana. They quite literally fell to pieces shortly after.

Vali twirled his katana to throw off any demon blood on it before he slid it back into its sheath. He noticed his hair had fallen down so he was quick to use his hand to brush it back up to his preferred style.

He reached into his coat and pulled out the blue amulet and looked at it. He knew what he had to do. It didn't matter who stood in his way; the Seven Guardians of Light, the Thirteen Seekers of Darkness, Fairy Tail, even his own brother.

If anyone tried to stop him from acquiring the power he was destined to have, he would kill them without question.

Vali: Are you ready, brother? Our rematch is approaching.

Chapter 46 ended.

Hey guys before I move on, I'm having trouble deciding what Drake, Kat, Lady, Trish, Modeus, and Fairy Tail would look like in Toy Box.

One is to have the gang dress as Final Fantasy characters and the other is to have some character dress as characters from Edens Zero. Which do you think will work?
