Grey clouds covered the skies above Magnolia for a storm was brewing. Everyone was already inside; including Drake as he sat in chair in his own apartment, eyes closed, he had dozed off. Things going very well for him to say the least by now, all his debts were cleared and he was making a decent profit.

He seemed to have clicked with most of the wizards of Fairy Tail pretty well, and despite Trish now joining, it wasn't so bad to have her around. It really couldn't get much better than this.

But then, something just passed over. Drake felt a presence that caused him to startle upwards. He felt something he hadn't felt in a long time.

Drake looked to his sliver and red medallion that he had around his neck, the last gift his mother gave him. 

He thought it might be best to get some fresh air before the rain hits. He walked out the door just as a certain neighbor of his walked out of her apartment.

Lucy: Oh hey Drake. What's up?

Drake: Nothing much. Just going out for some fresh air. You?

Lucy: Gonna hang out at the guild during the storm. It's getting lonely in my apartment all by myself.

Drake: Couldn't you just summon that boyfriend of yours Loke to keep you coming?

Lucy: (blush) Hey! It's not like that! He's my sprit... of course he's a friend like all the others... but it's not...

Drake smirked as he walked down the stairs with Lucy right behind him. Drake made it to the door only to find that it was slightly open, confusing him a bit. 

Drake opened it up slowly and looked outside to see if anyone was there, it looked like no one was present.

He walked outside a bit and noticed something on the outside of the door, a piece of paper stuck to the door by a small dagger.

Drake removed the dagger and looked at the paper, his face became serious as he read the contents. Lucy just came outside and noticed his serious expression.

Lucy: Drake?

Drake: Change of plans. You go on back to the guild hall, there's something I gotta take care of.

Lucy: What do you mean? Is something wrong? Can I help?

Drake: Don't worry it's nothing, just something I need to do. But if you want to help, tell Natsu if he wants to fight me, just wait till I get there.

Lucy: (sweat drop) Something's telling me he won't listen to me.

Drake: Yeah probably. I'll see you and the others later.

Drake waved to Lucy as she turned around and left for the guild hall. Though she walked at a quick pace to avoid getting caught in the rain.

When she was far enough away Drake looked to the paper and became serious again. The contents of the paper read; 'East Forest, I'll be waiting'

Drake exhaled deeply as he recognized the writing, he knew he felt something familiar.

Drake: So like you; always so straight forward. I'm coming, you better be ready bro.

East Forest

Within a small clearing between several trees stood Vali who left the note. He stood with his sheathed katana on the ground and both hands on the handle.

Vali: I am ready, are you?

Guild Hall

Most of the guild members gathered around to see an arm wrestle between Gajeel and Trish. 

Lisanna: Ready? (Gajeel and Trish nodded) And... Go!

The Iron Dragon Slayer and the lightning-she demon began to arm-wrestle each other. 

Gajeel: Damn! For a woman, you're pretty strong!

Trish: Thanks! The same could be said of you!

Panther Lily: It looks like those two are evenly matched in terms of physical strength. 

Levy: Go on, Gajeel! You can win!

The two were about to pushed each other down when Natsu jumped high. 

Natsu: Gajeel! Trish! Let's fight!

Trish used her free hand to blast blue lightning at Natsu, electrocuting him which made him fall down. 

Trish: Do you mind? We're busy at the moment. 

Gajeel: Yeah, wait your turn, Salamder. 

(Meanwhile)

Drake had just entered the East Forest as soon as the rain began to hit. It went from a few light drops to a downpour in no time. 

Drake didn't seem to mind as it seemed almost fitting; but he was focused on something else right now as he continued making his way through the forest until he reached a small clearing and saw who he was looking for standing with his back to him in the middle of it.

Vali: (slowly turned around) You showed up.

Drake just walked into the clearing.

Drake: (sarcastically) You sure know how to throw a party. No food, no drinks, and not even one single babe.

Vali: My sincerest apology brother. I was so eager to see you, I couldn't concentrate on preparations for the 'bash'.

Drake: Whatever. At any rate, it's been a whole year since we last met. How about a kiss from your little brother? Or better yet, how about a kiss from this?

Drake pulled out his Ebony pistol and pointed it at Vali. The two brothers stared each other down as lightning flashed in the sky in between them.

Drake: So, this is what they call a heartwarming family reunion, eh?

Vali: You got that right. (flicked his katana out of his scabbard) 

Drake wasted no time in firing Ebony, but Vali jumped back to avoid the magic bullets. Drake pulled out Ivory and begun to fire both guns at his elder brother.

Vali jumped high into the air and behind Drake to deliver a kick to his back, knocking him back to the center of the clearing. Drake soon had Vali's katana, Yamato pointed to his face.

Vali: Guns? How barbaric.

Drake: You're one to talk. But if you're gonna be like that...

Drake jumped back quite a distance and pulled out his sword Rebellion.

Drake: Let's make it a little more classy.

Both brothers stood for a second before yelling and charging, their blades clashing as they met.

Fairy Tail Guild Hall

Lucy had just walked inside, but she was already soaked.

Lucy: Aw man. I just cleaned this outfit too.

She reined out her skirt.

Wendy: Hey Lucy, how's it going?

She and Carla came over to Lucy.

Lucy: Other than being soaked, I'm fine. So where are the others?

Wendy: Over there.

Wendy pointed to Happy helping the dizzy Natsu up and Erza, Kat, and Gray chatting with Trish who won her arm-wrestle match with Gajeel.

Trish: Why does he always pick fights?

Erza: That's Natsu's way of testing his own strength.

Gray: Even though he frequently gets his ass kicked.

Trish: I can see why Drake likes that kid so much.

Wendy: Drake? You worked with Drake right?

Trish: Yeah.

Wendy: So what's it like being a Devil Hunter? I'm sure you two had plenty of adventures together.

Trish patted Wendy on the head.

Trish: You're cute.

Carla: Excuse me, if you don't mind me asking. What is your relationship with Drake?

Trish: (sigh) We never dated okay, why does everyone always think that?

Carla: That's not what I meant. What I meant was, perhaps you could tell us more about him.

Kat: Drake usually keeps to himself. He's a lone-wolf kinda guy.

Lucy: But you two did work together right?

Kat: Sometimes.

Trish: For a short time with me. Things are usually less complicated when you're alone, you don't have to really worry about anyone that way.

Gray: That's a good point.

Erza: Which does explain why Drake usually takes solo-jobs.

Wendy: But why by himself? Doesn't he have friends who can help him?

Kat: Other than me, Trish, and Lady, he doesn't really know too many people. He said he's been alone for a long time, and he's just gotten used to it.

Wendy: That sounds kinda sad.

Happy: Aye, no one should be alone their whole life.

Lucy: Wait what about family? Doesn't he have any relatives or anything?

Kat looks down in sadness which makes the wizards look at her in concern.

Lucy: What's wrong?

Kat exhaled a little bit at that question.

Kat: Well, that's actually one of the reasons he's alone.

The wizards and cats were slightly surprised at that.

Erza: What do you mean by that?

Before Kat could say anything else, Natsu shook off his dizziness.

Natsu: Hey, did you guys say 'Drake'?

Happy: Yeah we're talking about him.

Natsu: Where is he?

Lucy: Well, he said he had something to take care of.

Gray: Did he say what?

Lucy: No, not really.

Natsu: Well I'm gonna find him. Guy owes me a rematch!

Natsu soon ran before anyone could object and burst out the doors leaving behind a trail of dust.

Natsu: Ready or not Drake! Here I come!

Kat, Trish, Lucy, Grey, Happy, Erza, Wendy, and Carla all sweat dropped at Natsu's act.

Lucy: (sigh) There he goes again.

Carla: You surprised? He is clearly insane.

Wendy: At least he's determined.

Gray: (gets up) Well, we better go get him.

Erza: Agreed, it won't do his body good if he's unconscious in the rain too long.

Happy flew after Natsu, with Gray, Erza, Lucy, Wendy, and Carla close behind.

Kat: I hope Drake is okay.

Trish: Don't worry, he is his son after all.

It seemed like the lightning flashed every time Rebellion and Yamato clashed as the brothers exchanged blows. Neither sword made contact with flesh as they parried each other's blades.

The clash between the two had caused quite a bit of destruction to the forest around them; trees were uprooted and/or sliced, craters had formed, and their were blade marks on the ground as the fight made it's way deeper and deeper into the forest.

When they collided again, Drake kicked Vali in the gut, sending him into the tree. When Drake came down with a vertical slash, Vali moved out of the way. The tree, and three more behind it were all sliced down the middle.

Vali sent a blue glowing energy wave from the slice of his blade, which Drake rolled out of the way to avoid, resulting in the trees behind him getting sliced at their trunks. Drake ran and delivered the hilt of Rebellion to Vali's gut sending him back quite a bit.

Vali: I'm impressed Drake. You've grown quite strong since we last met.

Drake: I've learned a few new tricks. Want to see one of them? Cerberus!

Drake pulled out his Ice Nunchucks in a bright flash and begun to flail them around, sending several shards of ice towards Vali, who cut through them all with near superhuman speed. 

Drake sent two prongs of Cerberus to the ground and sent several ice spikes speeding to Vali, trapping his lower body in the ice.

Vali: You've acquired a Devil Arm.

Drake gives a cocky smirk.

Vali: Interesting, however, you are not the only one who has acquired new additions to his arsenal. Beowulf!

In another flash of light, Vali was now wielding dark grey gauntlets and boots. 

He jumped high into the air, shattering the ice that trapped him. Drake was caught off guard, he couldn't react to when Vali landed in front of him and delivered a punch to Drake's chest, and another as a right slug to the face, sending Drake flying through several trees.

Drake struggled to get up from a broken tree and rubbed his face, rubbing some blood from his mouth. Oddly enough he was smiling.

Drake: I gotta admit, that packs a wallop. You know what else packs a wallop? Agni! Rudra!

Drake came running as hands glowed and he was now wielding his red and blue short blades. He thrusted both forward to send a large gust of fire and wind to Vali who blocked it with his gauntlets. 

The fire-wind vanished, revealing smoky gauntlets before he saw Drake a few inches away, sending his blue blade to Vali's side, blowing him back with a huge gust of wind.

Vali smacked into the back of a tree, his hair was now flowing down. He looked to see Drake rising his red blade, which was on fire, attempting to deliver the blow on him; Vali blocked the blade with his right gauntlet.

Drake: Fire and wind, it's a deadly combination.

The two struggled a little bit, before Vali vanished in a sudden flash, and then appeared behind him. 

Before Drake could react, Vali delivered a kick with his left Beowulf boot, sending Drake through the same tree. Drake dug both swords into the ground to stop his momentum. He looked at Vali.

Vali: In addition to enhanced strength, Beowulf also grants an increase to my speed as well. That also makes a deadly combination.

Drake: So you're fast too huh? But are you faster than lightning? Nevan!

Drake then wielded his electric scythe and sent a bolt of purple lightning at Vali, who was barley able to avoid it.

Drake continued to send more bolts of lightning; which Vali could only avoid with his Beowulf boots. Dante was not about to give him any room to fight.

Having enough of being on the defense, Vali slammed his boot into the ground, creating a mass of dirt flying around.

This caused Drake to shield his eyes, giving Vali the opening to slam both his gauntlets towards Drake, who avoided it just in the nick of time.

Vali: Aquila!

Vali summons pair of large, three-pointed cyclone blades with curved edges, held in each hand.

Vali starts throwing the shuriken-like-blades at Drake who dodged, the storm of thrown blades slices down a few trees. 

Drake: (surprised) You got one of my old weapons? 

Vali: Correct, as well as Arbiter and Osiris. Even your old Devil Arms still have their uses. 

Vali uses Aquila as the shuriken-like-blades surrounded Drake and yanked him into Vali. The older brother whips them forward in a spinning tornado and slashes his younger brother. 

Drake: Balrog!

Drake equips his firing gauntlets, boots, and shoulder pads. He then performs an uppercut at Vali's chin in Blow Mode, sending him flying. Both breathed deeply as they continued to glare at each other.

Vali: You may have more Devil Arms than I, brother. However, it is clear you only recently obtained them and have not yet mastered them.

Drake: The same goes for you.

Vali: I would prefer to fight you at your finest, with the weapon you are best at.

Drake: Alright. I'll use Rebellion, only if you stick with Yamato.

Vali: As you wish.

In two different flashes, their respective weapons vanished and Dante was once again wielding Rebellion and Vergil had Yamato. They each took respective stances. 

As the rain continued to pour and lightning continued to flash with thunder, they continued to glare, until they both jumped high into the trees and fought deeper into the forest.

(with Team Natsu)

Lucy: Natsu! Wait up!

Lucy, Erza, Wendy, Gray, Carla, and Happy tried to catch up to him as they left the town and just entered the East Forest.

Happy: He's gotta be following Drake's scent.

Gray: But why is it all the way out here? Why come here in the middle of a storm like this?

Erza: We'll ask Drake once we find him.

The five then came to a clearing to find Natsu just standing and observing the scenery around him. When they caught up to him, they were about to yell at Natsu for going off without them, but they looked to what he was seeing and weere completely shocked.

This part of the East Forest had been completely demolished. Trees were uprooted and/or sliced; craters and slice marks were littered all over the ground.

Lucy: (circular eyes) WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE?!?!

Gray: Looks like a freaking warzone!

Wendy: You think Drake did this?

Erza: Perhaps he was practicing, he does have a large variety of weapons at his disposal.

Natsu: It's not just him.

They looked at him with surprise as he took a few whiffs of the air.

Natsu: Somebody else was here to. I can smell em.

Carla: Someone else?

Erza: Could he be fighting with someone?

Gray: (looked at the destroyed environment around them) If he is, it's gotta be a whole army that can do this kind of damage.

Natsu: No. It just one other guy.

Happy: (white circular eyes) WHAT?!?!

Lucy: ONLY ONE?!?!

Erza: It would make sense, I do not see any bodies or anything else that would indicate a large group being here.

Wendy: One? If that's true, how strong is this guy?

Gray: He's gotta be real strong to go one-on-one with Dante of all people.

Erza: Yes I agree. (looks at Natsu) Natsu, can you track them? Drake may need our help.

Natsu: Yeah, I got em. Let's go.

Natsu, Gray, and Erza then began running, following the scent and the trail of destruction left by the battle as Wendy and Carla followed them as well.

Lucy was thinking about going back, but Happy picked her up and flew after them, much to her displeasure.

While they were running, Natsu and Wendy couldn't help but notice something odd. This other scent they picked up.

Wendy's mind: This is weird... I'm picking up another scent, but it smells like Drake for some reason. 

Natsu's mind: This scent... It smells dark, cold, twisted, and yet... why does it smell so much like Drake?

(With Drake and Vali)

Drake and Vali jumped from tree to tree, diagonal swiping past each other in flashes of red and blue. Each time they did, sparks from their colliding swords flew up into the air.

The trees came so close together that the two were able to run on them as they continued to swing their blades at each other while running on the trees. The tree line came to an end and they were forced to jump.

They both landed on the rocky slope of a small mountain. Vali kicked Drake back, who rolled out of the way of Vali's slash. They continued to parry swords as they moved further up the mountain. 

Vali was pushing Drake back as he was moving backwards defending against his brother's blows. It was only a short time till they made it to the large, flat, top of the mountain.

(with Team Natsu)

Natsu, Erza, Gray, Lucy, Wendy, Happy, and Carla moved as fast as they can, hopping to help Drake however they could. They soon came to the bottom of the same mountain and began to climb at fast rates.

(with Drake and Vali)

Drake and Vali both took long deep breaths, both of them quite tired. However, it wasn't long before they went at it again. 

Drake charged in, dragging Rebellion across the ground and colliding with Vali's Yamato. Drake swung but Vali leapt back and delivered the hilt of the handle to Drake's chest, sending him back.

Drake took out Ebony and fired rapidly. Vali twirled his blade like a helicopter, catching the bullets and with a swing, tossed them back to Drake who sliced vertically, cutting the bullets in half.

Vali: Why do you refuse to gain power? The power of our father Sparda?

Drake gave a light chuckle.

Drake: It's not so complicated. I just don't like you, that's all.

Their blades locked as they charged. The sparks flew as the blades grinded against each other as the two brothers glared. 

They were at a stand off, neither willing to back down in the least. Until...

???: Drake!

His eyes widened, he turned around slightly to see Natsu and the others running up the mountain, calling his name again.

Team Natsu: Drake!

Drake's mind: No! Not now!

That was what Vali needed. With Drake distracted, he flicked Rebellion out of Drake's hands and ran Yamato through his chest. 

The wizards stopped in their tracks as soon as they saw that. Their faces evident with shock.

Vali: Foolishness Drake, (pushed Yamato deeper) foolishness. Might controls everything. And without strength, you cannot protect anything. (grabs Drake by the jacket) Let alone yourself.

Vali removed Yamato from Drake's chest and quickly snatched the medallion from Drake, and in one fluid motion, took Rebellion and jammed it into Drake's chest and into the ground.

Vali took a moment to look at the red and silver medallion.

Natsu: YOU BASTARD!!!

Vali looked up at Natsu who charged towards him.

Natsu: Fire Dragon Iron Fist!

Natsu's flaming fist made contact with Vali's face and sent him back.

Gray: Ice-Make: Lance!

Gray launched a volley of ice lances towards Vali which he jumped to avoid. However, he looked up to see Erza with two swords above him. 

She slashed both her swords down onto him, only for him to block the attack with Yamato. He landed on the ground as Natsu, Gray, and Erza all glared at him.

Lucy, Wendy, Carla, and Happy were at Drake. Lucy covered her mouth in shock as Wendy and Happy were having tears start to flow from his eyes. 

Wendy: (teary) Drake... No...

Lucy's shock turned to anger as she glared at the blue robbed swordsman. 

Lucy: Who the hell are you?!

Vali took note of the unexpected company.

Vali: Natsu Dragneel, the Fire Dragon Slayer. Erza Scarlet, the Fairy Queen, also known as Titania. Lucy Heartfilia, a Celestial wizard. Wendy Marvel, the Sky Dragon Slayer. And Gray Fullbuster, an Ice-Make wizard. What business does Fairy Tail have here?

Gray: We're the ones asking the question you bastard!

Erza: Who are you?! Why did you attack Drake?! Answer me!

Vali: I don't see how the business between my brother and I are any concern of yours.

That last statement made each of them gasp in massive shock.

Natsu/Happy/Gray/Lucy/Wendy: BROTHER?!?!

Erza and Carla were speechless.

Carla: He's... your... brother?

Happy: If you're his brother, then why are you attacking him?

Vali: As I said, it's none of your concern.

Erza: When you attack a fellow guild member, it becomes our concern!

Vali: (cocks a brow) So he has joined a guild. I was wondering what he's been up to recently. But this is of little importance to me. I have what I want, and I will now take my leave.

Natsu: Like hell you will!

Natsu's cheeks puffed, ready for a breath attack, and Gray put his hand to his palm ready to cast a spell as well.

Natsu: Fire Dragon...

Gray: Ice-Make...

Vali glimpsed with his cold stare and before anything else happened, he sped past Natsu and Gray with his unsheathed Yamato. 

As soon as he passed them, the ground exploded beneath them, sending them rolling along the ground.

Lucy & Wendy: Natsu! Gray!

Erza was so shocked at this man's speed, she failed to notice him coming from behind and deliver a kick to the head, knocking her back.

Wendy was about to cast her magic, but Vali appeared behind and kneed her in the gut causing her to cough silva and falls on her back.

Carla: Wendy!

Vali now sped in front of the terrified Lucy. Happy took a shaky defiant stance in front of Vali ready to fight, despite that he was terrified as well. Vali merely kicked him out of the way and lifted his blade ready to strike Lucy.

Vali: You should have stayed out of this.

All Lucy could do was close her eyes so she wouldn't see it coming. But then, in a sudden flash, Lucy felt something zip in front of her and heard the sound of metal piercing flesh. 

She slowly opened her left eye to see what was happening, but became shocked at what she saw.

Lucy: Drake?

Drake was standing in front of Lucy, his left hand in a fist blocking Vali's katana, with the blade in his bloodied hand. Natsu, Gray, Erza, Wendy, Happy, and Carla saw this as well and were surprised to say the least.

Vali: (smirk) Ah, I see a devil inside you has awakened as well.

Drake was able to throw Vali away. All looked to Drake who had an eerie red glow around him and his breathing was heard at a slow and loud pace. Vali sheathed his katana.

Vali: I will be seeing you again brother, we're not done yet.

Vali leapt off the mountain, but the wizards weren't paying attention to him anymore. They looked to their ally as he began to glow brighter and brighter.

Happy: Drake?

Drake pulled his arms in and opened up with a yell as he transformed into something else. Something much more demonic; a red and black monster-like creature with wings, silver horns pointing downward, claws on his hands and feet, and yellow eyes. His yell was more of an inhuman roar that reached to the heavens.

All the wizards, even Erza, found themselves shocked beyond words at this. The roar ceased and Drake had transformed back before falling flat on the ground. It took a while before reality set back into the wizards.

Lucy: What... just... happened?

Gray: I have no idea.

Wendy: What was that? Some kind of Take-Over?

Erza: No, there was no magic seal. This was something else.

Natsu: Hey guys, his scent has changed. Drake smells different now.

Happy: Look at his sword. (pointed at Rebellion) It's changed too.

They noticed how the skull at the handle of the blade was now open and it had red eyes.

Wendy: Not just that. Look.

Wendy turned Drake over and they saw his chest.

Wendy: There's nothing! He was stabbed, and there's not even a scar.

Lucy: His hand's healed too.

Lucy took up the same hand that blocked Yamato.

Gray: What the hell is going on here?

Carla: We can worry about that later. Right now we have to take Drake back to the guild.

Erza: She's right. We should get Drake back to the guild. Happy, you can fly him right?

Happy nodded as he sprouted his wings and picked up the unconscious Drake. Erza picked up his sword and they began to make their way back the guild hall.

Natsu couldn't help but wonder what this was all about, and he was likely thinking of the same thing everyone else here was.

Natsu's mind: Drake... Who or what are you?
