Chapter 24: Welcome Back

Persephone's stomach churned as she held onto Hades strong and confident hand. He laced his fingers with hers and silently reassured her that everything would be alright, and that he's right next to her for everything. But she knew that she would have to face her mother alone.

They emerged from the cool turbulent portal that pushed them onto a bright golden platform. They left the open veranda and entered through the side chambers. Persephone stepped into a grand hall that had several seats arranged for the gods and goddesses, but as the gates came to pass, she winced the moment she arrived in the west chambers, she shut her eyes and took several moments to adjust to the intense light. The court was surrounded by colossal pearl white pillars that were lined up symmetrically, the seats were carved out of marble and iron, but she knew that Zeus's throne was made out of silver and gold; her father would always let her play on it when she was a kid.

"Was it always this bright," grumbled Persephone.

Hades chuckled. "Your eyes just got used to the darkness like mine," said Hades.

"Persephone," a deep and hearty voice rumbled in front of her, a pair of massive shoulders blocked the light which allowed her to look up. The king of gods and her father stood tall and proud, his silver hair sat just above his strong shoulders which contrasted against his deep sea blue eyes and taut bronzed skin. His silver armour clanked and shined under the starlight's blaze, he truly looked invincible and very much intimidating.

"Father," she greeted and hugged him back.

"How is my child?" Zeus asked with a cheeky smile.

"I'm good father, thank you," answered Persephone. "And you?"

"Better than some," said Zeus winking at his daughter because they both knew who he was implying about.

"Persephone!" A female voice screeched from the hall.

Persephone kept a smile on her face. "Mother."

Her mother pulled her tightly into an embrace. "How are you, midear" Her mother held her at arms-length and inspected her with meticulously worried eyes.

"I'm fine, mother," she said. "Better than fine actually," Persephone tried to reassure her mother, but Demeter shot the nastiest look at Hades who seemed very bored with the family reunion. Persephone inwardly grinned, she could just imagine his lack of excitement, especially when Zeus gave Hades a big bear hug.

"Zeus," Demeter spoke. "Why don't you take Hades to the dinner table first."

Zeus and Hades shared a look but they knew no one could dispute Demeter right now. "Of course, dear," said Zeus and he led Hades away from Persephone.

Demeter took Persephone to her own chambers. Persephone played a lot and trained even more in her mother's quarters.

"Tell me truly how you are feeling now?" Demeter asked.

"Mother, I'm fine," said Persephone. "Happy even."

Her mother looked at Persephone like she had two heads. "How can you be happy at that wretched place?" asked Demeter. "It doesn't even have any light or flowers for that matter."

"Mother, it truly isn't like what everyone says," Persephone informed. "Hades isn't anything like the rumours," she whispered lovingly.

"I know Hades," Demeter snapped. "He is evil and cunning, tainted even."

"No, you're wrong," Persephone bit back. "He is kind, smart, and an amazing king who rules the Underworld with compassion and dignity," said Persephone sternly. "Look, I did not come here to fight," Persephone sat next to her mother. "I am happy in this marriage and I love Hades. Only I know how much he has done for me, so will you accept this marriage or I will leave."

"You would leave your mother," Demeter sounded astonished.

"If I have to," Persephone replied firmly. Demeter sighed and nodded in agreement, she accepted defeat to her daughter's stubbornness that matched her father. Persephone pulled her mother in a warm hug. A release of ease washed over her, she was excited that her mother has moved on and accepted the marriage. Now, Persephone could rest. "I will visit whenever I can," Persephone promised while looking into her mother's loving eyes that were still filled with disappointment even grief. But Persephone didn't bother pushing her mother, she knew that her mother would get back on her feet since she was a strong woman, and an even mightier goddess.

"Let's go enjoy dinner," said Persephone.

"Hmm," Demeter mumbled like she was lost in thought.

They all enjoyed dinner together and went their separate ways for bed after Zeus practically had to drag Demeter from her daughter, telling her to leave them alone for the night.

-Hades POV-

"Now that were finally alone," said Hades as he pulled his wife into his arms and kissed her longingly, taking the breath out of both of them.

"Relax, what's the rush," said Seph wickedly as she pulled away from his hands, she led him through a hallway towards the last pair of double doors all the way at the end. Seph opened the double doors with mysterious smile, Hades strode into a beautiful bedroom, it had long windows and an open balcony that showed the night sky. The drapes blew softly with the wind and the room was filled with cool crisp air that smelt of roses and leaves.

Hades spotted a hammock and a small fire place, he imagined Seph sleeping near the fire after taking care of the garden, she would be so warm and innocent and that image stirred deep inside him with a dangerous desire. On the other side laid a circular bed which made Hades breathing freeze. He imagined Seph laid back on the golden silk sheets, her auburn hair spilled across the pillows and her beautiful body would be spread across the bed completely exposed.

"This way," he heard a whisper from behind him.

Seph had opened a thin door behind the hammock. "Father and mother don't know anything about this secret passage," said Seph as she led Hades towards a small garden. The grass was so soft and fragile that Hades armoured feet crushed it under his weight. A stream that filled the air with tranquility calmed his tense muscles.

"It's beautiful," said Hades as he admired the view.

"Thank you," said Seph. He gave her a perplexed look. "I did it myself. This was my first ever garden."

"You never cease to amaze me," said Hades.

They both took a seat on the wide swing which hung from the massive tree that was positioned in the dead centre of the garden. Hades anchored his foot to the ground and calmly pushed them back and forth.

"How did it go with your mother?" Hades spoke into the silent night.

"Good," said Seph. "I think," she gave him a dubious look. "I doubt she will ever move on from this. But I do hope that she will try to accept it, accept us." A shiver trembled through her from the night breeze. Hades pulled his wife closer to keep her warm and he covered her with his cape.

"Demeter isn't one to give up very easily," believed Hades.

Seph nodded and snuggled closer. "Neither am I," she remarked.

Hades grinned. "That was one of the reasons I married you," he revealed.

Seph looked at him amused. "I'm stubborn?"

Hades raked his hair. "Stubborn and a little bit wild," he answered and after a long thought he spoke again. "When I met you in that garden, there was just something about you."

Seph laughed openly. "I fell out of a tree!"

"And right into my arms," said Hades. "That's how I knew, you were the one."

"Has anyone ever told you that you're such a romantic?" asked Seph teasingly.

Hades laughed. "You're the first to say that to me," he answered.

Seph got off the swing and pushed Hades back playfully. She filled her hands with small white flowers called heliotrope and boldly showered them all over him. They cascaded down and decorated themselves on his black armour and ebony silk cape, his scarlet eyes narrowed as he glowered back at her.

Seph immediately regret her actions, but honestly not that much because she filled her hands with the flowers again and waited until the swing came close, as it did, she tossed them all over him. The soft petals on the flowers kissed his hair and body, they adored his dark aura as much as she did. The flowers blossomed brightly and sprayed their cherry scent all around them.

Hades grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him as the swing pulled him back, her small gasp stirred his heart and soul the one he thought he never had. Getting off the swing, he leaned her into the tree trunk and caged her into their own little world like this secret garden.

-Persephone's POV-

"Flowers look beautiful on you," said Persephone as she tried to hold back her laughter.

"Not as beautiful as they look on you," his deep voice enthused through Persephone's body that craved his hot and greedy touch. Regret filled Persephone as Hades slowly tortured her by kissing down her neck and biting the thin flesh, one of his hands explored down the lines of her body, whilst the other locked her wrists above her head.

"You're the first to say that to me, you know." She admitted shyly because no one complimented her the way Hades did, no one looked at her the way Hades does every single time she locked eyes with him. Hades was all she cared about, and she knew that was the way for him too. "Hades," she whispered.

He stopped kissing her, but his head remained at her neck.

Before she could say anything further all she heard was a loud tear, she couldn't look down, but all she felt were icy hot hands skimming down her blazing hot thigh. It was at that moment she knew; Hades ripped the skirt of her gown in half.

"I love it when your rough," her husky whisper caused Hades to growl and look at her with burning scarlet eyes that always rendered her speechless. His hands became rough as he squeezed her thigh and went up to her eagerly wet core. Persephone grew anxious from waiting of what he was going to do next. His palm brazenly cupped her core and a gasp escaped her lips as he pushed two fingers into her hot channel and spread her apart for him, his fingers coated with the proof of her arousal.

"Just for me," whispered Hades huskily to Persephone.

"Only you," she moaned.

She looked into his eyes as he thrusted another finger into her pulsating core, she arched her back off the hard tree and threw her head back as his strong fingers easily pushed her over the edge of insanity. His rough palm rubbed against her clit and his fingers plunged deeper, it gave her the wildest pleasure. In seconds the rush built up in her body, her core clenched his fingers as her orgasm washed over her.

Persephone gazed towards Hades who had a dark seductive grin, like he was planning something. But before she could say anything, they flashed in her old bedroom. The cool bedsheets tickled her hot skin, and with Hades on top of her revealing his sculpted body with her gown already gone, she was more than just ready for him.
