Chapter 7

Deadlox's POV~

I woke up in a dark room, with a pounding headache. I sluggishly looked up, and as my head cleared I looked around. I tried to get up, but I couldn't, and I noticed that my arms and legs were tied down.

Then I remembered what happened... so Seto really was a sorcerer, huh... but why kidnap me?

Suddenly I heard some whispers coming from somewhere in the room.

"I dunno... I think he's awake..."

"Well, if he is awake, then it's no big deal 'cause we drugged him, remember?"

Who is that... I guess it's the drugs that are keeping me from thinking straight. Maybe my parents could check it out... No! Focus! That would just get me deeper into this mess! My best bet is to act innocent and confused. They might not buy it, but I can't risk them discovering my powers... Who knows who they would tell, and then it would only be a matter of time before the government was after me again.

"I should have never gone to school..." I groaned.

"Ok, yeah, he's awake. You can stay here, but I'm getting Seto." One of the voices said, and I recognised it as Mitch. I guess all of my "friends" are in on this.

"Ok, biggums, but try to be quick. I don't like this, he was dead a couple of minutes ago..." The he second voice, Jerome, said.

There were fast footsteps that walked away, creaking on the floor in places before it all went silent. I could hear Jerome shift around a couple times, but I was having trouble seeing anything... it was all out of focus.

What felt like hours later, I could hear two pairs of footsteps coming back down the hallway.

"How long has he been awake?" I could hear Seto ask.

"Dunno. Mitch went to get you once we heard him say something." Jerome answered.

"What did he say?" Seto asked curiously.

"Dunno. Sounded like 'Shouldn't have' but that was all I could make out." Mitch told him.

"...alright. Well, you two stay here, I'm going to go talk to him." Seto said.

So, he was going to torture me, huh...

"You sure that's a good idea? He might be some sort of new monster." Jerome said. I cringed at that word... monster. It wasn't my fault I was different.

"Hey, I'm the sorcerer here, guys. I think I can take care of myself." Seto joked.

"Well, ok..." Mitch relented.

I heard the sound of a key in a lock, and a door creaking open. Light flooded in, blinding me, and the next thing I knew someone was tapping the side of my face.

"Hey, Deadlox. C'mon, stay with me." My vision cleared enough so that I could tell it was Seto. But, he looked weird... one of his eyes was bigger that his whole head. I could feel my heart start up again, and I shuddered involuntarily. But then I started giggling.

"Hehehe... you look reeeeeeeally fuuuunny Seto." I dragged out rhe words, still giggling. I looked down at my arms, and saw that my veins were slightly bulging...

"How much of that drug did you guys give him??" Seto asked Mitch and Jerome.

"All of it. It didn't affect him at all in the normal quantities." Mitch answered.

"Jeez... you feeling ok, buddy?" Seto asked me.

"I will be... in a second..." I murmered, shaking off my hysteria. I moved my wrist in one quick motion, and the cuffs cut my wrist open right on the vein.

"What..." Seto started, moving towards my arm, but then he stopped as a clear liquid started to gush out. My veins deflated as the drug left my body, and after it was all out I could see clearly again.

"Ahhh... much better." I said. "Now then, what did you want to talk about?"

Seto stared at me, his mouth hanging open. "Erm... well, what did you say when you woke up? What shouldn't you have done?"

"Ah, yes... it was one of my better points today. Waking up in a cell tied to a chair with drugs in my system. I was merely commenting on how this wouldn't have happened if I hadn't gone to school and met you lot." I berated him, and he flinched.

"Yea, sorry about that... but I'm not letting you wander around without knowing what's going on first." Seto replied, his voice gaining strenght towards the end.

"Well, then I guess I'm going to be here for a while, cuz you aren't getting anything out of me." I said.

"Oh yea? Try doing that with a truth spell cast on you." Seto grinned. His hands gliwed, and after some muttering and waving I could feel magic coursing through me. It was trying to compel me to speak.

"Now then, who are you really? Because Deadlox doesn't exist." Seto asked me, and I could feel the magic strenghthen. There was only one way the beat truth spells...

"Five years old

A fire in a house

Guns are shot

Everyone's dead

But me." Riddles based on the truth - cofusing, frustrating, and one of the most foolproof ways of beating a truth spell.

"Elaborate please." Seto said, frowning.

"Five years old

Government came

Guns were fired

The house was burned

Everyone dead

But me." I added a few lines, and Seto continued frowning.

"What has your life been like?" Seto asked.

"Runing

Hiding

Helping

Here comes

the chopper's block." I sang out.

"Keep going." Dang, this guy doesn't know when to quit.

"Terror

Blood

Monsters

Explosions

Building

Helping

Saving

Learing

Friends." God... I ran out of rhymes, so now they were just words strung together.

"What do you want to do?" Seto asked me. That was an easy one.

"Live." I said simply... I was not going to tell him how much I wanted to hug him and protect him and... FOCUS!

"Are you a new type of monster?" I heard Jerome ask.

I laughed harshly. "I've been called that, but no."

"I'll be going then. Thanks. I'll be back later." Seto said. He got up and left, and I just sat there. Seto locked the door once again, and then he took Mitch and Jerome with him when he went upstairs.

I looked around. There was a single lightbulb hanging from the ceiling, and the walls were made of stone blocks. The door had bars on it, and a small opening at the bottom for passing stuff through. I couldn't see the part of the room behind me.

I yanked experimentaly on the cuffs, and found that they loosened slightly the more I pulled. They were old, and that age had worn down the locks.

A few minutes later, my wrists were cut up, but I was free of the cuffs. I reached down and pulled open the cuffs on my ankles. I then pulled off my socks and cut off the part where your ankles go. I put those parts over my wrists, and put the rest of the mangled socks back on my feet. I used the laces to tie my shoes to my belt loop, because I would have to be quiet when walking around.

I searched the cell for anything that could be of use. Behind the chair there was a chest pushed up against the wall. In it, I found my sword, knives, and... my backpack! I stashed my weapons in their familiar places on my body and pulled out my backpack. I reached inside and searched around, thinking of my lockpicking set. I felt it against my hand, and I pulled it out. I would have to start hiding it somewhere on my person.

I went over to the lock on the flap at the bottom of the door, and in less than a minute I was pulling my backpack through behind me.

I was greeted with a short hallway leading to a staircase. No windows, and the only other door was to a different cell. Well, time to go and face whatever's waiting up there.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry if it seems a little short. It's a slightly crazy chapter. DON'T DO DRUGS. *ahem* anyways... I do good? See ya later, my fluffies!
