day three | roommates
Bit of important info: Summer is Lacey's daughter. You can find her on her Instragram if you want to see what she looks like.
Bit of not-as-important info: this chapter takes place way way after the first two. Those were before they started dating; in this, they've been dating for a million years, and now live together. Even less important than that info, Summer lives with her dad on the weekends, and her mom (Lacey) during the week.
That should be it. Thanks for sticking with me so far, especially when I'm putting this up two days late.

"Summer!"
Macey stood at the bottom of the staircase, yelling up at her daughter. She would be starting her first day of second grade in just a little over an hour, yet she hadn't seen her since Tom had offered to help her find something to wear.
Just as she was about to yell again, she heard a reply.
"I'm coming!"
A few seconds later, Summer appeared, with Tom close behind her. She stopped at the top of the steps, grinning, then began walking down them. Macey had brought her phone up to take a picture, but slowly brought it to her side as she took in the scene before her.
In terms of looks, Summer was a mirror-image of her mom. They had the same naturally curly blonde hair, and she made a lot of the same facial expressions as her mom. Macey called her her "mini-me."
However, at that moment, Summer was a mirror-image of Tom.
From the looks of it, the two of them had made the decision to put on every black item of clothing the little girl owned. The happiness on her face was a stark contrast to the dreariness of the outfit, which consisted of a plain black t-shirt, black leggings, and black boots.
"I am not going to have my daughter going out dressed like this," She stated, a frown on her face.
"Dressed like what, exactly?" Tom asked.
"Like she'll die of heat stroke the minute she walks out the door!" Macey exclaimed. She looked down at her daughter, who was now standing in front of her at the bottom of the stairs. She bent down so that she was level with her. "Honey, I want you to go change into something else, okay? You can wear this outfit later in the year, when it's cooler. Does that sound good?"
Upon hearing that she would still be allowed to wear it later, she smiled and nodded.
"Okay."
"All right. Now go back upstairs, and I'll be up in a just a minute to help you find something else to wear."
Summer turned around and rushed back up the stairs. Macey straightened back up, and Tom began making his way toward her.
"You're acting like I was sending her to school in a devil costume," He told her.
She shook her head. "No, I'm not."
"Okay, then explain to me how you're acting."
"Look, Summer loves you, and she thinks you're great, so she's going to want to dress like you, and act like you," She explained, "which is fine, by the way. But she is also a bright and charming little girl, and the first day of school is when you meet new people for the first time, and you only get one chance to make a first impression. The all-black, evil look is great on you, and it didn't look bad on her, but I want the other kids to get to know her first."
"Yeah, I get it."
"Also, like I said earlier, it's very hot out, and I don't want her dying on the playground during recess," She added. "I am open to the outfit, just not today."
"You know we were joking, right?"
"What?"
He smiled. "When I told her that I wanted to pull a prank on you, she got really excited and wanted to know every single detail I had planned. She has a dress laid out on her bed, but she was pulling things out of her closet, showing me every black thing she owned."
Macey tried resisting the urge to smile, but failed. "I hate you."
"No, you don't."
"I know."
He went back up the stairs to check on Summer.
