My heart has slow footsteps

So with all my strength, I chased after you

Each step I take

You're right there so why am I hesitating?

Pacifica Pines

I gasp for air and the feeling of it in my lungs makes me have some hope. I felt someone cradle me in their arms as I coughed.

I coughed and coughed endlessly, blue goop wouldn't stop coming out of my lungs.

'Shit, are you awake?' The person said.

I mumbled something, something irrelevant, and tried to open my eyes, but the sun was bright, too bright.

'Pacifica.' The person addressed me. Laying me down on the ground. I felt dry leaves crunch as they did, we were in the forest.

'Yes, Pacifica, we are in the forest.' The person confirmed my thoughts. I shut my eyes, trying to close myself off from reality. We were directly in the sun, and the lack of natural light from the place I was stuck in before did not help.

I let myself adjust to the light before opening my eyes slowly. Looking around, it was acres and acres of empty forest.

Dipper Gleeful

I simply backed away from her, letting her take in her surroundings.

Whether Mabel saw me or not, I do not know, but the only thing that I knew for certain was that Pacifica was alright.

'Wh-Where am I?' Pacifica lolled her head back, as if suffering from a migraine. 'Ugh, my head.' She said between coughs.

'You're in the forest, my dear.' I shoved my hands in my pockets. 'I already told you that.'

'Yeah...' Pacifica placed a hand on her face, trying to remember. 'Yeah, you did.'

It was morning now, it only took me 3 hours, 29 minutes and 49 seconds, 50 now, 51... to get us here. As much as it seem impolite to say, carrying Pacifica was excruciating. If it were not that she was a victim of my bloodline then I wouldn't have taken such care of her.

Silence.

'Where am I again?' Pacifica rubbed her eyes with her fists.

'The forest.' I scoffed.

'Ah, right.' Pacifica paused. 'And who are you again?' Pacifica hadn't looked up ever since she woke up and I had laid her back on a tree.

'Dipper Gleeful, I'm sure we've met.'

Pacifica sat up bit by bit and squinted, trying to focus on my face with the sun shining right in her eyes. Being the kind person I was, I shifted to my left to cover the sun's ray.

Once she recognised me, her eyes lit up and her lips curled upwards. 'Dipper?'

Her eyes twinkled. 'Dipper!'

Trying to get up, she staggered forwards. Finding her calves were covered in serious claw marks, she fell down onto the dry forest floor.

'What's this?' Her eyes widened in fear and ran her fingers on the marks.

'A little scratch I presume.' I knelt down to inspect the scars, about to hold her leg down when Pacifica's leg jolted away from me.

'It hurts.' Pacifica ignored my remark. 'Like, it hurts really really bad.' She sniffed.

'Do you want me to take you to the hospital?' I offered. I knew how much Pacifica would hate me for reading her mind but I just couldn't. Her thoughts were screaming in pain, fear, anger and panic. The thoughts alone were overwhelming for me, I couldn't imagine how it was for her.

'Y-yeah.' Pacifica started nodding slowly, as soon as it made sense to her too, she started nodding quickly. 'I think that's a good idea.' Her dazed eyes looked out further into the forest.

I picked her up by her arms and lifted her up onto my back. I scanned the area again.

As much as Mabel hated it, teleportation had its perks.

'Was that Apparition?' Pacifica blinked. She had a blank expression on her face.

'You've seen me do this, and no it isn't.' I heaved her into the little clinic I had teleported us to.

'This isn't a hospital.'

'I think I figured that out when I decided to bring us here.' I quipped back at her.

'You said you'd take me to a hospital. This isn't a hospital.' Pacifica said again, she began to cower.

'Yes. Precisely.'

'Okay then.' She gulped.

I stepped into the clinic, with an awful weight behind my back and set Pacifica down next to a pillar while I went to draw someone's attention to her.

As I walked away, I turned to see her back slumped on the pillar and her head lolled back.

I had never seen that girl so drained before, ever.
