Chapter 3: Scavenging for Food
Sleep may have came easily to Katsuki, but waking up was a whole different story. Although, he didn't mind being other sorts of intimate for clients, Kirishima wasn't paying him diddily squat. Another thing that would add on the discomfort is the fact he isn't in his bed but rather on the ground next to an available alpha.
Normally the available part of alpha wouldn't concern the omega too much. But the prescriptions taken by Katsuki don't mix all too well resulting in a weaker chemical reaction from the both, aka he might go into heat at the drop of a hat. Not very likely though, still a few more days before it becomes a viable probability.
Katsuki huffed while rolling away from the red-head. Unfortunately, rolling on a ground of untamed rocks can result in a fun little stab to the chest. Needless to say, Katsuki was interally whining about his ailing tit.
After the pain loosened its grip on Katsuki's breast, he went about his morning finding food and such. While scavenging, a pounding in his head erupted. In comparison, this headache wasn't nearly as bad as the ones he got when he left his heat untended.
He growled to himself, in an instinctual act to get the pain to go away. It had no effect in all honesty. Katsuki continued on his search, catching the smell fo something sweet. He approached a plant, little light blue flowers. Small dark blue berries littered amoung its leaves.
"Belladonna," Katsuki mumbled to himself. He looked the plant over for a good long minute. Considering his options, bringing these would mean he'd have a layer of protection from anybody he'd meet. And this would provide an effect method of self-defense if the alphas got handsy. "No, the dumbasses would mistake it for something edible."
Katsuki's attention shifted to every other plant in the near area. There was a deep, slow flowing river near by, cattail growing at the edge of the water. He didn't heisitate to grab a few by the base and tug until they came loose.
He started rinsing off the dirt from the roots. Rustling was heard in the background, not that Katsuki expected to by anything he can't handle. Although not trained, the pure ferocity of his quirk would be enough to scare off anything with more than a single braincell. It was getting closer still, he took this as a chance to give a warning growl.
"Woah, hey. It's just me," a familiar dragon shifter said defensively.
Katsuki sighed, he carried on with his work. The roots were nearly clean by now, just a but more of scrubbing and they should be ready.
"What are you doing," Kirishima asked.
"The berries by you will definitely kill you," Katsuki replied, not really trying to avoid the question. He just found it important to say so before that dumbass got a taste and wanted more.
"How did you know that," Kirishima asked.
"Years of neglectful parenting and a fuck ton of books," Katsuki answered simply.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear your parents were neg-"
"No, my parents were amazing. They died, my brother and I were 'raised' by scatter brain librarian that gave me to egg," Katsuki corrected.
"Oh, Vivec? So, you're Midoriya Ki," Kirishima asked. He seemed unsure at the usage of the surname, which would be a correct uncertainty because he was wrong.
"Pfth, what would give you to assumption I'm a Midoriya," Katsuki replied with an amused smile. He stood up from the river, catching his eye on a chicory plant.
"Well, you said your brother was the new recruit, Midoriya. I just thought you might have the same family name," Kirishima replied. He was following along with Katsuki's actions, pulling at little flowers from a plant he knew nothing about.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. I'm Bakugou Katsuki, call me whatever I don't really give a fuck," Katsuki said, clearing up whatever confusion might have been held about his name.
"Oh, that's cool," Kirishima said.
"Hmm. How do you know Vivec," Katsuki asked. He was finished plucking the flowers from their place on the plant. Not wasting any time to move on to another flowering plant. This time it is wood sorrel.
"Oh, well back home they'd show up with books. They actually taught me how to read and write in Achelk," Kirishima answered with a toothy grin.
"So, you know more than one language," Katsuki questioned. He was currently digging up the roots of the plant, hands were starting to look mud caked.
"I guess so," Kirishima replied. He crouched down to Katsuki's level, watching and copying the blonde's actions. Katsuki approcated the help and the intuition of the other man, he did seem a little more somber than the rest of the pack.
"Why'd ya decide to visit," Katsuki asked.
"To get the egg back home," Kirishima answered simply.
"Well, yeah. But why is it important? You obviously don't care about it, so it's not like your doing because it matters," Katsuki said.
"Doing it for my master," Kirishima replied. Katsuki nodded, he was becoming more aware the conversation was venturing into personal territory. It would probably be best to cut of topic off. But the blonde didn't. The two started to head back to the campsite.
"Who's your boss," Katsuki asked insensitively. It's not that he isn't aware of the rigid heirarchy system, he just didn't care.
"Nobody important," Kirishima answered softly.
"Hmm. Must suck," Kastuki replied. Kirishima only let out a resigned sigh in response. There was a moment of silence as they kept pace, Katsuki proving to have a slightly wider gait than the other. The shifter hang his head low as they traveled.
Katsuki stopped, stepping in front of the redhead. He shifted all the plants to his right arm. He sighed defeatedly, extending his free arm to the other in a welcoming manner.
"Look dumbass, I'm only going to do this once. So, fucking come here and get a god damn hug," Katsuki demanded needlessly aggressive while doing so.
Kirishima looked up from the dirt beneath his feet. His face contorted into what was the beginnings of an ugly sob. Katsuki huffed, gathering the other in his arm. He wasn't all too skilled in comforting people, but he had enough experience from Izuku to manage. The blonde started a low purr, Kirishima taking this as permission to cuddle in closer to the older's chest.
Katsuki ran his fingers through the hair on the back of Kirishima's head, subconsciously guiding the alpha to his scent gland where he was producing comforting pheromones. At first smell the alpha calmed almost immediately.
It wasn't too long before Katsuki was starting to get fidgety about being physically affectionate for so long. Kirishima took notice of the omega's discomfort and took a respectful step away.
"Thank you," Kirishima said thankfully.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever," Katsuki dismissed. He considered to cover himself in dirt to get the alpha's scent off him. Of course, he didn't, he has standards and it would probably make Kirishima feel bad.
Katsuki was honestly suprised to find the entire campsite wasn't in flames. Zappy was crying though. This was a few too many emotions for Katsuki to handle in a single morning, so he ignored him and went to the fire to prepare the food.
"Look, I know you stubbed your toe but you've been crying for the past ten minutes," Weird elbows said in an exasperated attempt to get the alpha to calm the fuck down.
Katsuki took a deep breath, completely aware he was traveling with a group of disasters.
