Chapter 2: After the Raid

"This is the fucking worst," Katsuki whined. Being ran out of your home town because the King thought it a good idea to burn down the entire sex and gambling district, kinda puts a dampen on your day. Especially when you work and live in said district. In addition to that, he's babysitting a pack of idiots and a dragon egg. The egg seeming to have more braincells than all of them combined.

"Oh, we can't be that bad," Mina crooned with a smile on her face.

"We've only been travelling for five hours. Shitty hair has gotten lost six times, Zappy has fallen down a hill into a creak, Elbows got stuck in a tree somehow, and you tried drawing on the egg with berries. Yes, it really is that bad," Katsuki stated sharply.

"In my defense, the egg looked sad," Mina countered.

"That's a terrible argument," Katsuki hissed. The conversation continued with them debating the logistics of drawing on the house of a baby dragon and whether it's good or bad.

Speaking of the egg, Katsuki still doesn't have a clear answer to whom it belongs. Up until his point he assumed it to be Kirishima's but the man had a general lack of care for it and he didn't smell as if he had any sexual partners, at all. Cute.

"We should probably set up camp soon, it's getting pretty late," Sero said tiredly. For the most part they were already set up, it was early summer, so worrying about sleeping in the cold wasn't much of a concern. What was a concern to Katsuki is that his anti-depressants and hormone suppressants were burnt away in the raid.

The only reason he didn't protest was because they did need sleep. And the sooner they slept the sooner they could awaken, meaning Katsuki could get his prescriptions sooner.

Being around three alphas was uncomfortable enough, but without his suppressants, he can't imagine this going too well for him. Though he does suppose the beta can be helpful in a pinch. He shook the thoughts out of his head, just allowing himself to be in the moment.

"Whatever," Katsuki complied. After making a basic campfire pit he lit it ablaze with his quirk. Deciding it that he'd be safest away from any potential jumping flames, he set up his resting spot a bit away from the fire.

"You can get closer to the fire, you made it after all," Kirishima offered.

"I'd rather not become a bomb shitty hair," Katsuki snarked in response.

"Excuse me," Kirishima growled.

Katsuki glared directly into Kirishima's eyes, eyebrows furrowed. He tsked turning away after a few seconds of eye contact. Kirishima must have taken that as a win, seeing as he didn't press this further.

"I know that your home got burnt to the ground, but it wouldn't kill you to be a bit nicer," Mina sighed.

"Kindness comes at a price," Katsuki replied simply.

"Then why did you let us stay over," Sero questioned.

Katsuki opened his mouth to reply, but when he tried to think of a reason, there was nothing. Well, nothing he'd be willing to admit, at least. A moment of silence swept over the group.

The silence was broken when the dragon shifter huffed tiredly. Others of the pack took this as a cue to sleep, so naturally Katsuki followed suit.

Katsuki was the first person awake, seeing as it was the dead of night. He tried not to think much of it but his heart was beating fast and he felt so cold. He shook his head in an attempt to suppress the memories of rough touches and people trying to get more than what they were willing to pay for.

He rolled onto his back, staring up at the sky. It was slightly blocked by trees but because he was a bit away from the fire. The stars were pretty easily seen. Pointing out the constellations to himself, quiet mumbles of the stories that went along with them. Stories that pups would love to hear.

Katsuki sat up sharply, snarling at the thought. The soft wind danced through the air, passing through green leaves with elegance in mind. Yet, this did little to hide the muted shuffling from behind him.

"Hey, whatcha' doin," a certain pointy-toothed dragon shifter asked. At this point he was sitting right next to Katsuki, making the omega a little uncomfortable.

"Well, I was trying to sleep," Katsuki replied harshly.

"What's keeping you up then," Kirishima asked in a hushed tone.

"Don't need to tell ya," Katsuki said blandly laying back down in the dirt.

"Yeah, but talkin 'bout stuff can help sometimes," Kirishima said with a cute little grin.

Katsuki only grunted in response. Taking a deep breathe in as a way to feign confidence, he looked back up into the sky. In all honesty, Kirishima smelles good to him. Not a screaming overpowering smell like most alphas. The red head was more like the type of smell you'd have for an omega, it's soothing but still just a zing that says alpha. A cinnamon wood fire, just the warm crispiness of an open flame. Katsuki finally found it in himself to actually change his center of attention to the sky above, the colors appearing a little lighter already.

"You know... I'm not from this part of the world, so I've never heard the this countries version of the constellations. Can you tell me about them," Kirishima asked.

From what Katsuki could tell, this alpha wasn't going to attack him in anyway. So he allowed Kirishima to lay by his side.

"Okay, shitty-hair," Katsuki said as he pointed up to Libra, ready to start his lessons with the younger boy.

"Kirishima. Call me Kirishima. It's kinda weird to insult my hair because it's pretty similar to yours," Kirishima replied, no tone of dominance. Just a friendly correction, Katsuki liked that.

"Tsk, we'll see," Katsuki replied with a small smirk apparent. "Okay so. Back in the far past there was a group of people that thought a pantheons of gods existed. One of them being king of the underworld, one day he fell in love with his neice. Which is weird, but whatever-"

The story continued on, the pair gradually growing more tired with the company they kept. Eventually they fell to sleep, lulled by the legends of the stars.

Needless to say, this was the best sleep Katsuki has had in a while.
