Tour
After dinner, Trystan stood and walked toward Marina. He extended his right hand. "Would you like a tour of my kingdom?"
Marina looked at his handsome face and then at his hand. Her heart was beating a bit faster. "Relax! He is just a guy! A handsome guy that is all!" she told herself. She got ahold of his hand as she stood.
Both mortal and immortal were in front of one another.
For the immortal king, he could not stop liking the woman's skin before him. It had been too long since he touched an actual human being. He never thought he would get to know the feeling once again. Trystan felt his heart beating in anticipation and peace. "Come, let us go." He led her out of the dining room and walked through the halls.
Although candles lit many parts of the palace, the darkness was still intense. For Trystan, he was used to the darkness, and it weighed on him. He did not want to admit it aloud, but he was at ease that he had someone else in his home besides puppet servants.
He showed her many rooms for guests; some rooms held baths. Trystan then led her to his gardens, where he would get most of his food.
Marina was in awe of the beauty of the palace. She touched a lily. "You have beautiful gardens."
"You like flowers?"
She nodded. "Flowers hold beauty that not many people can understand. However, each flower is different on the inside. Their appearance on the outside can sometimes be misleading; many may be poisonous, while others are not."
Her perception amused Trystan. He let her go as he saw her walk around the many gardens. He did not know why, but he felt pleased watching Marina enjoy herself. "Would you like to see the library? I have many scrolls written during the time I was human."
Her eyes lit up, and she walked quickly toward him. He extended his arm, which she gladly took hold of.
They left the gardens and went to the left section of the palace. They did not take long to reach the library. Trystan lifted the curtain, making some space for Marina to enter.
When Marina entered, she saw many cement-like shelves that held many scrolls. She felt like she was in paradise. "Wow! This is amazing!"
"You like to read?" Trystan asked in an amused manner.
"Well, of course, I do! It is one of my hobbies. Can I?"
"Read? You can try, but the words are not of your language."
She shrugged her shoulders. "Who cares. Many people would kill to be here. These scrolls are history!"
Marina went towards the many shelves and got a scroll. She looked around and saw a wooden table and chair. She walked towards them, sat on the chair, and slowly opened the scroll. Her eyes went wide open, the words were impossible for her to read, but she felt happy.
Happy with the fact that she was part of legendary history. As she looked at the words, Trystan walked next to her.
Marina turned and looked at him. "How was Atlantis in the past?"
He sat at the table. "It was the most beautiful empire that the world had ever seen. We were technologically advanced, for many feared us. The people were at peace. Yet, I ruined everything when I came into power; here, my empire lies. Deep in the waters, never to be seen again. My fate is to be forgotten like my kingdom and people. The Bermuda Triangle is my prison; all those who dared to enter get sucked in its deadly waters."
"How many have been victims of the Bermuda Triangle?"
Trystan sighed. "So many that I have lost count. It was painful to see so many lose their lives. The Bermuda Triangle, as you call it, is more like the entrance to my empire, but all have died when they are pulled in. You were the only one ever to survive."
Marina became thoughtful. "Well, now that you mentioned it. Many have yet died within the Bermuda Triangle; I wonder why I hadn't died before you saved me?"
Trystan smiled. "I asked myself that very same question. Maybe it's fate."
Marina blushed at the statement. "What do you mean by that?"
"Whenever someone becomes a victim of the triangle, their death is immediate. However, when a human did not die quickly, I would not save them. I did not want to."
Her eyes were wide open. "Why not?"
"The reason is that I hated them. I envied them. They had lives on land, somewhere I wanted to live in again."
"So you let them die out of jealousy."
The king was silent for a second and looked her in the eye. "If that is how you want to see it. My reasoning may sound foreign to you, but your perception of life might change if you lived a very long life." He stood from the table. "You may take the scroll with you if you wish. It is late, and you need rest. Let us leave."
Marina carefully rolled up the scroll and held onto it. She walked before Trystan and walked out of the library.
Trystan walked behind and led Marina back to her room. He opened the door and motioned her to go in, which she did. "I bid you good rest. Tomorrow, I will show you more of my palace. Until then." He closed and locked the door, walking away to his chambers.
