Lazarus
I had just returned back from partying around with my friends, when I began to ring the bell to be let in into my own castle by my human slave.

"Zar, I still believe that you should treat the lady with some dignity and respect... She is your mate" Said Oliver as we stood outside the castle door.

"She is a human, weak pathetic and ruthless" I replied sipping my drink

"But she is your mate" Said martin

"Exactly she isy mate not yours, so don't tell me how I should treat her" I replied.

"Whatever zar, a mate is someone to be cherished not tortured, be her any species" Said Liam as he rang the bell again.

This was the fourth bell, I will fucking kill her of ahe does not open the door but the next ring.

I turned around when I heard Brendon gasp. My eyes widened in shock, she was injured and fucking about to pass out. Somehow she stumbled into my arms and looked up at at me. I panicked when she closed her eyes.

"Elizabeth, Liz, human, mate, wake up... I'm not in a mood to play nurse doctor... Come one open your eyes " I said as I shook her slightly.

I was on my knees in the ground with her know my arms.

"Zar, I'll get the healers" Said Oliver as he dashed out

"While Oliver gets the healers, let's take her inside in your room" Said Martin.

"For the love of vampires, carry her bridal style.. Not koala style" Said Liam as he watched in horror as I picked her up like a baby koala.

Nodding I adjusted her with the help of Martin so that she was bridal style in my arms. I ran up to my room and laid her down on my bed, right in the middle.

Liam had pulled the cover back and then gingerly placed them back on her, only for her to wince.

"What in the love of the night happened?" I asked no one in particular as I watched her bleed

"I have no idea but I think in know some people who must" Said Martin

"Bring those two bitches and place them in the dungeons for questioning" I told him and he nodded.

Oliver returned with a healer. A single healer. Here my mate was bleeding and he brought a single healer. He should have brought an army of them.

"Greetings, my king. What shall I serve you with today" Asked the healer staring at Elizabeth.

"My mate here is unconscious and bleeding... Fix her" I said glaring at him and he nodded.

He began to roughly handle her. Even if she was unconscious in knew it was hurting her.

"She is to be handled with cater the same gentleness you use when handling a newborn baby" I said growing at the healer

"Rodger that king" He said gulping. Knowing very well if he makes a mistake like that again then he would loose his head. I believe this healer had a new born baby, I'm damn sure he want to spend time with it. So for both of our sakes he must handle my my mate care.

"Burn marks, excessive bleeding and a cold. " Murmurred the healer

"Fix her " I growled.

"I have bandaged and stitched her, now she needs rest and food, I believe she only had breakfast and has been starving for weeks. She needs to be hydrated and well fed and rested. Give her this for the cold. " He said handing me a bottle of herbs.

"Is it poisoned? " I asked glaring at the bottle

"No, my king, it is not poisoned" Said the healer nervously

"If she doesn't get better by this and gets any worse after having this, you will become history" I said

"I swear in the nightly creature of hell, that stuff is just herbs, fit for a human to take. " Said the healer

"What was a human medicine doing with you? " I asked staring at him

"I was going to try and convert it into a medicine for vampires" Said the healer

I started into his golden eyes and when I found nothing but truth and fear I let him go. Giving him a bag of gold coins.

"Scramble" I said and he nodded.

"Liam keep an eye on her while I deal with those bitches" I said

"Yes my king" He said

"No touching her, unless its to help her drink water or eat some food. " I said

"Yes king" He said

"Oliver stay back and cook a good healthy meal for her" I said

"Yes king" He said

"Most preferably cook her some pizza and soup, I heard humans love pizza but I also heard that when sick they prefer soup" I said

"Ok zar" He said

"Tomato soup to be specific" I said

"Ok king" He replied

"Martin follow me, we are going to. Have fun" I said

"Yes my king" He said mimicking mu sadistic smirk

"King why should I do? " Asked Brendon.

"Dance" I said sarcastically

"Ok" He said and began to the a dance.

I have him 'what the fuck look' and he seized.

"Follow us and help in the interrogation you Jimmy jam idiot" I growled and he nodded.

We flew out the window and landed straight in the main castle dungeons where the two vampires who were about to meet father Satan in hell.

"King, why are we here" Asked the red haired bitch

"Explain to me why mate was injured when I returned home" I said eerily calm.

"We don't know king, she must have done something stupid when we left" Said the black haired one

"I smell lie" I said and saw them gulp

None of them answered so I did what I had to. I peered through their memory. Sex, kiss, kiss mate, images.... Till finally I found what I was looking for, the recording of what happened when no was gone.

I saw how they treated her, mocked her and even throw her! O growled realm loudly. Without thinking I snapped their neck.

"Only I get to torture what is mine" I said as I tossed their head to aside.

"Hand their heedless torsos in the kingdom for a day with a message that only I will hurt Elizabeth and no one else. Anyone trying to do so will have a headless torso hung up... Not of them but of their loved ones.... As for these bitches mates. Explain to them what happened. If they go ballistic... Kill them as well" I said and Martin nodded.

Brendon was shaken and I saw him piling in the corner

"Don't tell me that the sight of. A headless torso got you sick" I said and he gave me a weak smile.

I glared back and flew out the castle back to my mate, who was asleep.

"Did she wake up? " I asked Liam

"No, she has been out like a rock" He replied staring at the motionless form of my mate.

My fault. I should have let her handle things herself instead of keeping two Vampires near her I'm the. Morning. At least she would have just been starved and not hurt.

I relieved both my friends and fold them to go and do whatever they do when  not around. They told me to take care and Oliver being the friend he is whacked my head upside down.

"Take care of her now, she needs rest, please for the love of vampires don't make her work in this state" He said and I nodded whole he left.

Slowly she stirred and some up staring at me. Her eyes widened when she saw me and she tried to sit up.

"No! No, stay down, you need rest, being thrown into a wall thrice with burns on your hands in no fun. You aren't a vampire so you need to rest the pain out" I said and she nodded.

"Would you like soup or pizza or both for dinner? " I asked and she looked at me in confusion

"Don't look at me like this, I am only making sure you don't die on me" I said and she nodded

"Pizza or Soup? "I asked again.

" Water"she said softly and I nodded. I helped her sit up straight and made her drink some water.

All this time her head was resting on my chest. I helped her lie back done again and them asked her

"No that you have had some water. Soup or pizza? " I asked

"Pizza" She replied softly and I nodded

"Pizza and tea... Ok" I said as I stood up and ran down stairs to grab the food. I plated it all and kept it on a tray before running back upstairs.

I kept the tray on the bed side table and helped her sit straight.

"Allow me to feed you, after all your hands are wrapped in bandages and I believe that is not hygienic" I said softly

"It's alright I can manage" She said

"I am not asking, I'm ordering you" I said and she nodded.

I picked up a slice of cheesy pizza and he'd it to her mouth. She took a small bite and I watched her as she chewed painfully slow. I am damn sure she was in pain whole chewing. My fault. For the first time in my life I was feeling guilty.

Once she was thought with her meal I slowly gave her sips of her tea which she drank. I had mixed the medicines in it x since I have no experience on whether she would like the taste or not. I then took the anti burn creme the healer gave me and applied it to her burn marks.

Helping her lie down, I watched her fall asleep. Once I was sure she was asleep I sat down on a chair and stared at her sleep. She isn't working tomorrow or the day after, that's for sure.

Sighing I asked Martin if he would be kind enough to drop some him food recipes at my castle. He agreed and half an hour later, the books were waiting outside my front door.

The next morning and the day after I cooked the meals as per the instructions of the book and made sure she was fed created and also had her medicines in her belly. On a Sunday night when I was sure she was good enough to work. I handed her the list for the chores she was to perform the next day.

She tried to go back down on the floor but I tossed her back on  the bed.

"You are sleeping next to me on the bed human" I said and she nodded without any word.

She curled up on the left side of the bed and turned her back towards me. I stated at her and observed the soft rise and fall of her body  ,listened to her breathing and heart beat and finally covered her with  the comforter and turned up the heat.

The cold never bothered me but it appears from experience of the past few days that the human lady who happens to be my mate gets sick due to the cold. I can't afford that now, can I?
