Blizzards and Messed up Direction

As I dove through the clouds something strange happened, sure I got a little wet but then the water froze and I struggled to keep my wings from freezing up. when we broke cloud cover all I could see was white, and more white, a cold wind whipped me tugging me in different directions like a game of brutal tug-of-war. Zara struggled beside me one moment flying steadily the next flipping upside-down.

"Great Glamora! Where did this come from?" She yelled

"I don't know, but we need to land!" I yelled back

We dropped a few meters, the snapped our wings open and circled. The wind and snow amount was bigger the closer we got to the ground, I was getting ready to drop more when I noticed something. My wings were coated in a thick layer of ice, I couldn't move them.

"Zara! my wings!" I screamed

She hovered above me, I was starting to lose feeling in my wings.

"Hang on, this might hurt a bit" she said

She folded her wings quickly a dropped onto my right wings. The ice shattered into a million fragments, pain flared through my wing as those fragments dug into my sensitive feathers. I gasped in pain, before I could even flap, she snapped her wings open, rose three feet, then rolled in mid air. And crashing down on my left, breaking the ice there too. I yelped as I felt the ice's keen sting again. A few flaps and it faded into a dull throb.

We landed in a hollowed out sequoia for the night. It was full of dry leaves and falcon down, and I could scent falcon all over the place. It was clear a family had lived here once.

"Wow, this place is cool" I said

"They probably noticed we're missing by now" said Zara as she clawed a nest into shape

"Yeah, I hope the other three made it through the snowstorm okay" I said sitting down in my own nest

"They're probably fine... good night Zach" she assured me

"Good night" I said

I had a weird dream that night. I was standing in a large cavern, a metal cage sat against the wall. The metal was twisted and looked like it was forged by evil. A beautiful white she-cat was hunched up in it. Her eyes were a beautiful blue color, but her fur was ratty and unkempt. She kept calling out to someone behind me.

"Stay back! you can't keep me here forever! I will go back to my family!"

"No, soon there will be more of your blood, Soooon"

The voice was scratchy and hoarse, as if he spent to much of his time screaming his head off. The white she-cat paced angrily, then she seemed to look right at me.

"No! it can't be, you're supposed to be dead!"

I stumbled back, my mind swirling at the sudden wave of nausea. Then I became aware of another voice calling out to me. Though from afar and underwater.

"Zach! wake up! Zachariah!"

My eyes snapped open suddenly, another face opposite to mine stared me down. I yelped and jerked backwards hitting my head on the wall of then hollow. I yelped again, this time in pain, by now Zara had been reduced to fit of giggles.

"What was that for?" I said rubbing my head

"Uh.... That...was...so funny...I... Used to.... Do.. That...all the time"

"I remember, and you would dangle a huge wad of tree moss in front of me" I smiled remembering the good times

"Oh yeah, that reminds me, look what I found!" then she shoved a pile a moss at me

I leaped backwards in surprise, my fur all fluffed up. Zara burst out laughing again, upon realizing what I had done, I was consumed by giggles to. We just kept laughing till my stomach growled, Zara stopped and sat up.

"I suppose we should get something to eat" she suggested

"Yeah, you know how to hunt?" I asked

"Um, well, I've watched other ice-claws do it" she wrung her paws

"Ok, let's give it a shot" I said and walked out onto a branch

"Whoa" we said at the same time

Because the whole word was covered in white, crispy, sparkling snow, and we had no idea where we were.
