I ran, as fast as my legs could take me.

Shift. Just shift, Ella, please. I begged her, but we were too out of sync, and after what the Alpha King said she is back to locking me out. Well yes, I also felt hurt. But now's not the time...

"Let her go!" I screamed at the wolf, who immediately snapped his head to me with the little girl's arm still in his grip. He was dragging the poor girl by her arm, her little legs were full of bruises and blood from the gravel road which she was dragged like a ragdoll. Her leggings were ripped exposing her legs, which made everything worse.

Her screams and cries broke my heart. How can I just leave her? She had to be no older than maybe 2 years?

"Get her, now" Ella snapped out of her state of shock and growled in my head.

"How, I cant shift?" I shouted at her mentally.

"Let me take over. I have better skills than you..."

"Why you are just peachy, aren't you?" I snapped back at her, giving her full control of my body. Ella may be emotional and a pain sometimes but she was strong at heart. She was the reason I was able to live and get through, everything.

We quickly scanned our surroundings and spotted a few other wolves who were now surrounding us, alongside some humans who are all dressed in black with a lot of weapons and..... Fuck, I smell wolfsbane.

I had no time to think about why wolves and humans were working together. It was too much for me to handle with a crying baby on my mind.

Shaking all thoughts of fear; because I was shitting my pants at the moment, I decided to use what I know. That is to help that girl, at all means. She was just a baby. She did not deserve to be hurt.

Again she screamed, her sobs and cries shook my heart. We ran, Ella was fast, pushing my body to its limits. I was hit to the ground by a human who started beating my face. Over and over and over again. Until Ella snapped, taking his hand in hers before his punch hit my face again.

She then twisted his arm until I heard a snap, she pushed him off and dodged a few more humans.

Almost there.

Then came the wolves, rogues. Their smell was unbearable and they had this feral expression in their eyes.

'Mental note... Don't shit your pants... Just smile and wave Ella... smile and wave.'

'Would you stop with the darn mental notes Monica!! You sound crazy!' she snapped at me.

"Well, thank you, Ella, now focus. Wolf at 6oclock.'

With that we dodged the wolf, there were about 16 of them. One got hold of my leg and another of my arm. Ella and I screamed in pain, as the one ripped a piece of flesh from my arm. Fuck

The little girl screamed again as they dragged her towards a red SUV.

No. No. No. This is not happening. Ella snap out of it now, please their going to take her.

Ella, let's play dead... We can catch them off-guard.

Ella did as I told and the idiots let go of me once I relaxed my muscles. They kicked me down as I pretended to "go slow". I tried my best to slow my heart rate. Then he turned around... 

The idiot... thank you for being stupid.

I quickly got up and ran, his head snapped back and they chased me again. They were fast but so was Ella, even if she was just taking over my body.

"Give me back control Ella. Rest. I've got this."

The little girl was thrown into the SUV and just as the man wanted to get in I tackled him. The other wolves were hot on my trail. I only saw them jumping...their landing target? ME.

I pushed the idiot man into the wolves and they shred him to pieces... Without a single thought.

Mentally slapping myself I got into the SUV and slammed the door shut.

"Lock the doors." Ella snapped at me.

Fuck..... The wolf was scratching the door. Haha, idiot. You don't have hands to open the door. 

The idiot, that I am started laughing. Until he backed away and slammed into the SUV.

I quickly lock the doors shaking myself out of my state of confusion, anxiety, and fear.

Quite honestly I have never been so, what do you say... brave in my life, but I just couldn't leave this little girl to be taken away. She was already in very bad shape and the Goddess knows what they are planning to do with her.

My only focus now is to get out of here, so I did the most logical thing. Searching for keys inside the SUV  to start the darn thing. Which there were none by the way.

After another slam into the SUV I tried to do that thing... You know where people start a car by combining wires at the bottom of the steering wheel. Which by the way does not work well either!

"Ella do you know how to start a car?" I asked her.

"You know, Monica, sometimes I wonder why I'm your wolf.... You really are, how should I say it? Stupid. Take a closer look and you will find what you're searching for," she hissed at me.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean? I'm not stupid. I... just.... there's not a key in the SUV!!"I hissed back at my wolf.

Taking a closer look next to the steering wheel I saw a little key and at the bottom of the key a button that says 'START.'

I pressed the button while holding my breath and the darn thing started.... Thank the heavens!!! I squealed. I am forever grateful!!! I can't believe this!!

Suddenly there was another massive impact into the SUV from both sides. They must have realized my plan, so I quickly put the SUV in reverse and drove back bumping into something.

"GODDESS!!" I shouted...I don't know what that was...but let's just hope it's not a good guy.

I drove away as fast as I could with the wolves chasing after me. I don't know how far I drove, all I knew is that this little girl needs to be back at the city hall, because she shouldn't have been there alone. She had to have parents there. Parents who were at the meeting or whatever. 

The thought of going back there scared the crap out of me.

 I stopped at the little gas station and got out of my seat to open the trunk. I couldn't get her out of the trunk because,  of the situation that was at hand.

I opened the trunk and she screamed tears were falling from my face I kneel down looking into her eyes as we cried together. She was so scared and it broke my heart.

"Mama?" she said crying.

"I'm not mama dear, but I'm here to help you. I promise you, I'll get you to where you need to be safely." I said to her smiling, scared of scaring her. I scanned her body which was still bleeding badly.

She smiled at me and with that, she stole my heart and soul.

"Papa." she said.

"Now, if I take you back to the place where papa is will you show me?" I asked her.

She nodded her little head and smiled. I tried to reach for her but she flinched. 

"I won't hurt you, I promise," I told her, letting go of some tears from my own eyes.

She lifts out her little arms reaching for me, showing me that it's okay, that I can pick her up. I lifted her up out the trunk, closed it, and walked back to the driver seat.

I got into the SUV and placed her on the passenger seat. 

The drive back to the City hall was quiet. She kept staring at me and in the end I placed my hand in her little hand as she held onto my hand for life. They have no idea the fear and pain they have caused this little angel. 

I started to feel a little dizzy, that's when I realized that I also still had an arm bleeding for life. Ella tried to heal it but it's going slow.

I parked the SUV at the front of the City Hall entrance. The sight was somewhat crazy. Wolves were running around like crazy, shouting and I swear I saw some furniture flying in the air. Which I blamed on my dizziness.

I climbed out of the SUV and picked up the little girl. She placed her arms around my neck, almost choking me.  Her brown hair was a bit messy and full of leaves and dirt.

I passed a few people who stopped in their tracks, they all stared at me like I had 3 heads on display.  Wow... stare much...

Once I reached the inside of the City Hall building, everything became quiet. Everyone staring at me once again. Okay... I defiantly must have 3 heads... 

A brown-haired woman with brown eyes ran up to me, she growled at me and tried to take the girl from me, which made her scream like hell. "Come here, Lily," she shouted at her, which made me furious, I mean the girl was almost just dead and abducted !!

"Leave her," I growled at her. She snapped her head at me and I saw her wolf take control of her body.

"Watch your mouth, Bitch." She snapped.

"You are scaring her, do you have any idea what she has been through?" I once again snapped back at the idiot woman! Holding tight to the little girl in my arms. Which was once again crying due to this... thing

"I SMELL HER! WHERE IS SHE?" Someone shouted a loud growl shook the building. But the growl turned me on,  it did not scare me.

There he stood. His eyes pitch black as his wolf is in full control. He walked towards me, closer and closer. Making my heart race... The girl fiddled and I slowly placed her on the ground. Her little legs trembled, so I gave her some support.

"Papa." She said softly.

"OUT, ALL OF YOU OUT." he shouted "NOW." He growled, which made everyone ran outside. He was scary as hell.

I helped the little girl sit down, and turned around to walk away. My heart started to hurt from the thought of leaving her here. Alone while those idiots are still here. Still alive and free.

"Not you. Stay."
