Chapter 20

"You are my soul." - King Alexander

This chapter is unedited and will be edited asap <3

The leaves swirled around in the air, as the wind blew through the trees. The distinct sound traveled through the forest, unseen.

I held Lily close to me, as I carried her to the playground. Alexander has still not told me what Cole told him yesterday, he has been somewhat distant as well.

I assume, its because I told him what I'm feeling. I guess it was a mistake to assume that his "I love you"  has more meaning than just the words themselves. It's sad really, that those three words are so easily used...

I could not help but feel, well, I don't know what I'm feeling now. All that I do know is that I may have overstepped the line.

We reached the playground and I put Lily down at the swings. She wobbled towards the sandpit and plumped her little body in the sand. She giggled and the other pups all joined her, laughing and smiling. They all looked so happy, genuinely happy.

The playground was somewhat busy, moms, dads and I presume nanny's, all played and enjoyed the day with their pups. The sight was beautifully blissful, making me wonder if I would ever be a real mom, with my own pup.

"Is he already bored with you?"

My head snapped to the familiar voice beside me. I honestly did not expect her to be here, in broad daylight, lurking around.

"what do you want?" I asked nervously, reminding myself that she could easily kill me.

"oh, don't worry honey. I'm not here to kill you," she said with an evil smirk, lifting her eyebrows. "Not today, anyway."

I clenched on the bench and tried to steady my breathing. Even though she said those words, I did not believe her. This woman always had a goal, a plain.

"let me ask you this then. Why is he waiting with you?" she asked, for a moment I did not understand what she meant. Then it hit me, like a train in the face it hit me, hard.

"I don't know," I responded truthfully. Why the fuck I opened my trap I would not know, but the words just flew out of me. Why did Alexander wait with me? Does he not like me... like that? Is there something wrong with me? Is there someone else?

Or maybe... he is disgusted by me, I mean, look at all my scars, the marks from the hunters, the cuts from back home.

My mind was racing with a thousand possibilities, all concluding that something is wrong with, me. I stared at the ground underneath my feet and took another breath.

"He was in my pants not even five minutes after we met. Alexander takes what he wants, he does not ask. Guess you're just too scared and damaged for the Alpha King."

Her words cut deeper than I needed them to. My head lifted to look at her again and she was gone, in a second she was just gone like she was never even there to begin with.

"The Alpha wants to see you." I glanced towards the voice and Bella was standing there, smiling, she looked so happy. She always looked so genuinely happy.

I gave her a nod and just as I was about to call for Lily she grabbed my arm. "I got her, it's my day with her, so don't worry," she said, squeezing my arm.

Once Bella squeezed my arm I felt something stir within me, what it is I don't know, but something was up with Bella.

"Did you see her?" I asked.

"Yes." she responded with a sad smile "what did she want?" she asked.

After Katy and her betrayal, I don't know if I'll ever trust someone as I trusted her. The thing about betrayal is, that it cuts deeper than a sword. It burns worse than silver acid and unfortunately, I can say that with truth.

"You don't have to tell me. I understand," she said smiling.

"Just some personal things," I responded. I did not want to go into it with her.

"You know, Luna-" I cut her off,

"Its Monica, please," I said.

"Monica, I am not really a people person, but you are the closest I have to a friend. If you ever need me. Just say so." Bella said. She really seemed sincere and truthful, but I can't let my guard down, not now.

I smiled at her and thanked her. Something however was still wrong, something inside me was burning and I knew that it was because of Bella.

A small flash filled my mind, images of a pup ran through my head, as the burning feeling subsided. The flash faded and I was back to reality. The moment came and passed so quickly that it almost felt like it never happened.

Bella was staring at me like I was a ghost and then the question just flew out of my mouth.

"Your pregnant?" I asked.

Her face fell and she looked shocked, honestly, so was I, I've never been so blunt and direct in my life.

"H... How did you know?" She asked, covering her face with both her hands. She started to cry, my heart ached for her, why I didn't know.

"A feeling... I don't know how." I responded truthfully, embracing her in a hug.

"You will be a great mom, Bella. I know it with all of my heart." I told her truthfully.

"What if Cole doesn't want a pup?" She asked, pulling away from my hug.

I wiped her tears and gave her a smile. "Cole would love to become a father, he would be there with you. Through it all. Now, go tell him. Everything will be okay." I said, pulling her into another hug. The burning feeling within me was now completely gone.

Bella and I parted ways and I walked towards the Pack House. Bella informed me that this is where Alexander will be waiting for me. My mind was still on everything Cecile told me, what Alexander's parents thought of me and the fact that he, well seemed not bothered by the last two. I decided not to mention anything about what Cecile said to Alexander. Only that she appeared next to me and disappeared before my eyes, he does not need to know what she told me, does he?

The Packhouse came into view and I was once again in awe by this magnificent building. There were many wolves and pups around, it was busy, much busier than usual.

My eyes scanned the terrain and fell on a little girl running... Our eyes met and I recognized her immediately.

"Luna!!" she screamed, running towards me. She ran into my arms as I kneeled down and I placed a kiss on her cheek. "Hello, Phoebe," I said.

"Come, the Alpha is looking for you!! He has made something for us, you'll never believe this!" the excitement in her eyes was contagious, and hope filled her little face. She was happy, which made me happy.

"Let's go then young lady," I said and she took my hand, leading me towards the forest.

We headed towards a pathway, I have not seen before, bright yellow and blue flowers enhanced the greyish color of the stones, that made up the pathway. The sound of water flowing was quickly overpowered by cheerful laughs and talking.

We took a turn, following the pathway into the forest, and before my eyes was something so magical that it was unreal. There was a small village inside the pack grounds, in the forest. It was absolutely beautiful with bright flowers, the homes looked like cabins and it seemed like a happy place.

I quickly scanned the grounds and a few familiar faces stood out. I immediately recognized them, these are the wolves we saved.

My heart swelled with pride, I knew he did this. Alexander made this possible for them, he gave then hope, a new life filled with beautiful beginnings.

When people talk about him as the ripper, they probably have never met him before. He is a real softy at heart. I probably should not say that to his face though... Zane would not find that amusing. I understand he has to put on his angry Alpha armor around him all the time, but things like this, make me see him, the true Alexander. The one who would do anything for his pack.

"The Alpha gave us this as our new home, Luna," Phoebe said from beside me. She smiled and gave me a slight squeeze on my hand.

"I know sweetheart," I responded

"How did you know?" A husky voice asked from behind me, I did not even need to see his face to know that its Alexander. His voice could put me in a state of lust.

"I just did, I know you," I said, trying to control my moment of weakness.

"Interesting," he responded, placing his hand on my back, turning me to face him.

"Hi," I whispered, staring into his blue eyes.

"Hi there, sweet cheeks," Zane said through Alexander, turning his eyes black.  I could not help but laugh at Zane's nickname for me.  "-and Hi, from me." Alexander said, taking control back from Zane.

"This is amazing, Alec. You are amazing." I said proudly. "I can't believe you did this, you have changed their lives, Alec. Look how happy they are."

"Wrong," he said, eyes filling with pride. "YOU, you are the one who saved them, you are the one who found them, you are the one who gave them their hope back, a reason to live." He said cupping my face, which it seemed like he liked to do... allot.

"We," I said.

"You know what? You are like the sun," he said to me, kissing my forehead...

'Jump him, here, now!' Ella popped in again.

I ignored Ella and the tingles from his lips touching my skin.

"Why?" I ask, almost choking on my own breath.

"You are a light, that brightens everything."

I leaned my head onto his chest and felt myself lose the little control that I had left on my emotions. Everything was just too much now. Where do I stand in all of this, what is real and what not?  I fucken feel like Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games, having to ask everyone 'real or not real'.

Fuck.

Tears streamed down my face as I tried to control the sobs escaping me. I hope Alexander does not notice me crying.

He wouldn't?

Would he?

"I'm taking you home, then we are going to talk about why you are so upset," he whispered in my ear.

Goddess no, I don't want that, I want out. I already lost what felt like my reality. Before I could protest he picked me up bridal style and started walking.

I don't know how long we walked before I was placed onto a soft bouncy thing.

Oh, it's our bed... I must have fallen asleep in his arms.

'Can't blame you. its all soft and he smells like 'I want you, now, deep within me.' Ella pronounced herself again with her lustful thoughts.

"What has you so upset?" He asked, looking at me intensely.

"Nothing" I responded immediately, great, my first mistake.

"Don't lie to me, Monica. I hate liars."

"I... I don't know, how to tell you." I said. Once again I could feel myself trembling.

"Just breathe, and tell me. It can't be that bad, I'm sure whatever it-"

"Cecile came to me today," I said cutting him off.  Now, this is the tricky situation, do I tell him the truth or a lie? What would be best, for him?

My mind raced with what to do as my breathing became more rapid. I could feel the air leave me and my heart racing.

Anxiety.

The joy of being, well fucked.

"Breathe," he said, placing his hand on my back, sitting next to me on the bed.

"She said some things. like... how you were all over her, and with me, she basically said.. you would never want me, not in that way." I said.

The thing is.

The truth will set you free, but first, it will tear you into one million micro pieces. It will burn you and then expect you to bounce back up, all smiley and happy. When the truth is, the truth sucks.

He did not even bother to respond. He walked towards the door, slamming it close.

"Say that again?" he asked. Picking me up from the bed, placing me in front of him, feet on the ground. I did not dare look him in the eyes. I felt too embarrassed to say, anything.

"You heard me the first time, Alec," I responded.

He grabbed my arm and lifted my head. "Look at me when I'm talking to you," he demanded, his hand a bit too tight around my arm.

"You're hurting me, Alec, please let go of my arm," I asked

He just stared at me, he was a complete blank. "Alec, please."

Still, he did not respond, I pulled my arm back and he still held onto it. "What is your problem Alexander? Let go, you're hurting me." I begged.

"My problem? You want to know what the hell my problem is?" He asked, looking at me with a straight face. He was so angry, it made me scared to just be in his precise. He grabbed me by my wrist and pulled me into his chest. Our bodies intertwined as our chests collided with a hard thud.

My heart was beating wildly in my chest. I could feel the heat rise between us... what have I done? Butterflies were swirling inside of me, begging to come out.

"My problem is you, Monica!" He whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my body and I swear I could hear Ella say something, but I was too distracted with Alexander to even pay attention to her. "I see the darkness in the world, all that is bad, I expect it. Its second nature for me, to expect the worst of everything and anything. Then you came along... you see the light. The good in everything and everyone. No matter what risk you have to take to endanger yourself, you would do it, for anyone. I see the fire in your eyes, even if you don't see it. I see courage, I look at you and I see hope. You are my hope. The only hope I ever had, the only hope Lily will ever have, it all lies with you."  He let go of my wrist and placed his hands under my chin, cupping my face. To say my emotions exploded inside was an understatement. All I wanted to do was kiss him, to seal his words with a kiss.

"I look into those eyes, your eyes and I would give up anything for you. I see my future, my guard falls down and I become weak. I have so many unseen and untold scars, that along the way in my life I lost feeling, so just like your heart stopped, mine did as well. Your the first person who has ever seen my heart and made it feel alive."

"You are my soul," he said looking me in the eyes, saying more than words ever could.

"You are my light and goddess knows, I would die for you. I don't see you as just sex, a quick one-night thing to make myself feel good for a few minutes. Your worth is much more than that. Your not ready and are still healing, I won't pressure you, for anything." He said, rubbing his thumb over my forehead, sending tingly sparks through me.

"You turn me on so badly, staying away is harder than you will ever know, I do want you, all of you. Just when the time is right."
