chapter 19: Going back home
Kian's POV
"I know she's mine, I'm taking her with me." I state when Archie calls me out.
After hearing their short conversation and seeing him, I hurried to my room and sat on the bed while holding Gia in my hands. I couldn't leave her after knowing she is my child. I looked down at her to find her feeling drowsy, so I started patting her small back gently and she fell asleep. I didn't see Archie walking into the room until he called me. That's when I look at him and tell him the only thing I want him to know.
"No, you can't take her from me. S-she's not y-your child." He disagrees immediately and try giving me excuses.
"You can lie all you want but the fact that she's my own flesh and blood doesn't change a thing. Her resemble to me is more than enough to prove she's mine. If you doesn't allow, I'll take legal actions. I'll conduct the test and prove she's mine. And when I do that all her responsibility will be mine. As the king I have more chances of having her according to our law, if I remind you." I state, my voice stern and absolute.
"Y-you wouldn't do that." He mumbles as tears pool in his eyes.
"I will, if that's the only way for me to have her." I declare while getting up and swinging Gia as she starts stirring in my hands.
"You can't do that, she's mine. Mine alone." He insists, hurriedly wiping his tears away.
Even after all these years and his betrayal, I still can't see the tears in his eyes. My heart aches seeing him cry.
"You know you can't create a baby alone, it needs two people to bring a life into this world." I resort, my words may words harsh but what's that I've become after his departure.
"Kian, y-you can't do that. You can't take her from me." He pleads while taking a step forward and I take mine a step back.
"You're not in a position to tell me what to do and what not. You have taken away the first three years of life of her's from me. You made her live without her father. Hell! I didn't even know of her existence. And it's all because of you." I acquse him with the reality.
"B-but you have children with Jane. All I have is her, Kian. I can't live without her. Please, give her to me." He cries loudly and that wakes up Gia.
She stirs before opening her eyes and looking at me. I smile at my little princess but Archie's loud cries gets her attention as she turns to him and immediately wiggles in my hands. Understanding that she wants to get down, I bend and slowly put her down on her feet.
"Mama, why are you crying?" She asks Archie while holding his legs and looking up at him.
"Gia." Archie picks her up and hugs her tightly to him.
"We're going to leave in an hour, whatever you want to talk to her or spend time with her do it within this hour." I state surprising him.
"Mister, did you scold my mama? Why is he crying?" Gia questions me while looking at me with teary eyes.
"No, princess. I only told him that I'm taking you with me." I tell her.
"You are taking me where, mister?" She queries shooting another question at me.
"I'm taking you to our kingdom, where you belong." I reply with a smile.
"I don't understand anything." She pouts shaking her head.
"Gia, I'm your father and I'm going to take you with me to our home." I smile at her while I explain her.
"Really? Mama, is this mister really my father?" She looks shocked with her eyes wide open and she immediately asks Archie to confirm whether what I said is true or not.
To her question, Archie only nods at her unable to speak. When he confirms my words, Gia starts crying, loudly. Archie stops crying at her sudden outburst and glance at me confused by her behaviour.
"Gia, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" He asks her worridly.
As her cries doesn't stop, I take her from Archie and hold her in my hands.
"Gia, baby, why are you crying?" My heart breaks at her cries. What's hurting her so much?
With her head on my shoulder and her hands tightly locked around my neck, she mumbles, "papa no likes me. Papa never came to meet me. I always wanted to be with papa."
Her words stabs my heart and glance at Archie, the one who brought us here, to this situation where my daughter thinks I don't like her. Surpassing my cries, I walk us to the bed and sit with her on my lap.
"Gia, baby, look at me." I call her while holding her small face and gently pulling her to face me.
"Papa loves you more than anyone. Papa had some other things to look after that's why I couldn't come to you. But I'm here now, to take you to our home." I say trying my best to make it took convincing. How do I tell her I didn't know about her existence until now?
"Real?" She questions with a surprised but happy tone.
"Really." I assure her.
"I missed papa alot." She sniffles while hugging me back, "I love papa."
My heart swells hearing how much she missed me and the love she has for me. With a huge smile, I hold her securely to me, "I missed you alot, baby. I'm never going to let you go again." I whisper into her hair.
"What does papa do?" She asks with her big round innocent eyes.
"Papa is the king of our kingdom." I reply proudly with a smile.
She suddenly pulls away from me and goes to Archie who's standing at the side just witnessing our union. Confused as why she suddenly left me, I stand up and look at her.
"Mama, we're going back to home. Papa is the king, we're going to live in huge palace." She exclaims happily and my worry vanishes. I thought she didn't believe me or she didn't want to come with me after knowing what I'm.
While she jumps in excitement, Archie looks at her in somber. His eyes regain tears and he begins to cry once again before lifting Gia up and into his arms. I march past them not wanting to see the scene and get out to inform my guards about the change of plans and leaving in an hour unlike our prior plan of leaving the next day.
I want to go and inform the same to Dean as well but I didn't want to take a step away from my door. I don't believe Archie. If I go somewhere and come back here, by then he would escape again. He already did that once, I can't let that repeat again. Not with my daughter.
After telling the guards and asking them to make necessary arrangements, I head back into the room and see both of them sitting on the couch. I walk to them and Gia looks up at me.
"Papa, why is mama crying? He's not telling me anything." She asks me sadly and I take a seat beside Archie who has Gia on his lap.
"I don't know, baby. Maybe your mama is sad that we're going." I state while brushing her soft hair with my hands.
"Mama, it's true? You're sad because we're going? But why? We get to live in big palace, not like the small house we have here. We will be happy there, let's go with papa. Please mama." She urges Archie to agree.
"Gia, your papa is here to take you, not me." He whispers looking at her with tears.
"Papa, is it true? You don't want mama to come?" She queries me sadly.
"I didn't say your mama isn't allowed. If he wants, he can come. That's his wish." I respond to her.
"See, mama, papa is taking both of us." She says delighted.
Archie gazes at me surprised that I'm not just taking Gia but also allowing him to come along if he wishes to. As he looks at me, I take Gia from him and walk away from him. I make my way towards Dean's room not bothered about Archie anymore as Gia is with me. I enter his room and watch both Dean and Winny pacing around the room.
"Dean." I call out his name and when they turn to me I tell them that I'm leaving, "I'm leaving now."
"Uncle, my Papa is taking us with him." Gia chirps in excitedly.
"Is it true, Kian? Are you taking them with you?" He questions me for confirmation.
"Yes, I'm taking Gia. About Archie, I let him make his own decision, whether he wants to come or not." I confirm.
"Okay. Whatever you guys decide. We're not to meddle in your family issues." He nods with a sigh.
Nodding at them, I turn around and leave the room. I ask the guards if everything is ready and when they answer an yes, I go to my room to inform Archie about the same and to ask if he made the decision. When I step in, I find him in the same place as where he was when I left. I march to him and he stands up after seeing me.
"Mama, let's go." Before I could ask him, Gia calls him and gives him grabby hands so he takes her from me.
"Did you decide?" I ask him, my voice void of any emotions.
"I-I'll be where Gia be." He says and I nod at him.
"I understand. Is there any unfinished business here for you because we're leaving now." I state.
"I'll once meet Dean and Winny." He whispers.
"Okay." I agree and when he starts to walk, I stop him, "Gia will be with me." Saying that, I take her from him.
His eyes helds sorrow at my words but as I said before I can't believe him of not run away from me again. He nods, handing Gia to me and leaving the room. I smile at my girl who seems happy to be with me and sit on the bed as I wait for his return.
"Papa," she calls me and I hum, "are you still angry with mama?" She asks sadly.
"Why do you ask that, baby?" I doubt, what made her feel I'm angry at Archie?
"Mama said because he left you, you'll angry at him." She informs.
I think for a minute of what should I say that would not make her sad anymore and reply, "no, baby. I'm not angry at him."
"Real? We should tell mama you're not angry at him. He thinks you're angry and cries everyday." She states confusing me.
"He cries?" I mumble myself.
"Yes, he cries when we sleep. He thinks I don't know but I saw him crying many times. I asked him one day then he told me it's because he's sorry for leaving you and it makes him sad thinking you hate him." She explains with gloomy eyes.
Hearing those words makes me stoic. I'm unable to respond anything to her. It takes sometime for me to sink whatever she said. Archie is suffering, it's not just me. As much as I want to forget everything and forgive him, I can't. It takes time to heal. Fate only knows what's going to happen but for now all I want is my daughter.
As I'm in thoughts, Archie comes back. Keeping all my thoughts aside for some other time, I take my leave and we head to our home.
