Stars

After an exchange trip to another country
{header image from Pinterest}

We watched as the stars twinkled,
Like diamonds strung up high.
They never failed to impress,
Although it was a foreign sky.
Our hosts partied indoors,
With music, chips, and coke,
But in the silence did we,
A bond of friendship invoke.
We lay in a line, side-by-side,
Pointing out constellations;
Commenting on differences,
Between our two nations.
And in that moment of serenity,
The truth I did realise,
All of us hold galaxies,
Stars in our eyes.
Our minds are constellations,
Profound, diverse, beautiful,
Our hearts are akin to nebulae,
So complex and so colourful.
We spend our entire lives,
Gazing up at the stars,
Wondering at their mysteries,
Wishing their knowledge was ours.
But if we took the time,
To simply look around us,
We'd be astounded to find,
That galaxies live amongst us.
