Everyone was constantly crowding around him, laughing and cheering. There wasn't one moment where he was alone. Unlike you.

Kazehaya Shouta. He was the most popular kid in the class and possibly school.

To be honest you weren't really surprised. Friendly, kind and not too shabby-looking. Who could possibly hate him?

You could.

You'd hated Kazehaya-kun for the longest time but you didn't know why. Maybe it was jealousy, after all he had so many friends yet you didn't even have one.

You prioritised studying over friendship. Getting a good job and life was more important than fooling around with friends. But you still couldn't help but wonder what it was like to be surrounded by heaps of people. Like he was.

'No (y/n) don't even think dare to think like that. Studying is the most important thing right now' you kept telling yourself. You had to stop having these thoughts.

"Ouch!" You were so deep in thought that you walked into someone and dropped all your books.

"I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention! It was an accident!" You said, not trying to get in a fight.

"It's ok, really! I was at fault too!" An all too familiar voice said. You looked up to see, to a horrible surprise, it was Kazehaya. He bent down and picked up your books while you just stood there.

"Here you go!" He said, handing you your books. He smiled at you warmly and without realising you were blushing.

"You're (y/n)-chan right? The smartest kid in the whole class?" You nodded.

He actually knew you! For some reason you felt extremely happy. 'Shit!' You thought 'I'm falling for his trap!'

"Well see ya round!" He said cheerily and went off.

Then you realised that you forgot to say thank you. You may hate him but that was no excuse to not thank him. You turned around but he was already gone.

The day carried on as usual until after school. You decided to go and say it. Of course he would be with his friends but if there was even a slight moment where he was by himself you'd sneak in and get the job done and forget about everything up until now.

You got lucky.

While walking around you saw Kazehaya by himself, putting his shoes on.

"Kazehaya-kun!" You shouted. He looked up at you signalling that you could come over.

"I uh.... Wanted to thank you for earlier it was my fault but you still helped me. So uh yeah.... thank you!" You stuttered. You had no reason to feel embarrassed yet you couldn't help it. You could feel your cheeks heating up.

"Anytime!" He said. He gave you one of his signature smiles and you could feel your heart almost flutter. That's when you could confirm it.

You had developed a crush on Kazehaya Shouta.

While walking home you were kept muttering to yourself. "Damn! Damn! Why him? What's so good about him! With all his cheap acts and phoney, cute smiles" ugh! You couldn't even insult him properly.

The week went on and so did your crush on him. It seemed to worsen everyday. You'd hoped you'd just mistaken it for gratitude but that wasn't the case. You soon found you couldn't take your eyes off him, even during class.

You were drifting away from your studies. The horror! And it was all that Kazehaya's fault. Or was it your's? You were just so confused!

You were too happy when the weekends came but after long consideration you decided if you wanted to fully get rid of this stupid feeling you'd have to confess.

Confess? The mere mention of it made you shudder but it had to be done. Luckily the following Monday was Valentine's Day so you would fit in with everyone else trying to confess to someone.

When Monday came you were unbelievably nervous. You hated this feeling and couldn't wait to get this done and over with.

You'd come to school super early for no apparent reason. You'd hoped that maybe he was at school early but why would he be? On the first day of the week as well!

That's why you were so shocked when you saw him. He was sleeping at his desk in the classroom. Actually alone for once.

You poked his peaceful sleeping face.
"Kazehaya-kun?" He didn't stir. "Kazehaya Shouta!" His eyelids slowly open revealing his bright brown eyes.

"Hmm? Oh (y/n)-chan?" he realised how close your face was and suddenly jumped back blushing.

"Wh...what's up?" He stuttered. You tightened your grip on the chocolate parcel behind your back.

"Um.." You began.

"I-wanted-to-give-you-these-chocolates-because-I-think-I-might-love-you-please-accept-these-so-I-can-go-back-to-my-normal-calm-life!!" You practically said it all in one breath.

It took a while for him to process it all but when he did his face was completely tomato red.

"Y...you do?!" He gasped. You nodded, embarrassed, bracing yourself for rejection.

Silence.

"Aren't you gonna reject me?" You asked bluntly.

He looked at you, a bit surprised. "S..sorry but.." For some reason this was harder to take then you thought. You no longer wanted to hear the rest of what he was about to say.

"Sorry but I can't reject you." You looked at him in confusion. "I can't reject you because I...I like you too..." Your eyes widened in surprise.

You didn't know whether to be happy or confused or nervous or excited. Your mind was going crazy.

"S...so it's a mutual like?" You asked. He nodded shyly. 'Oh damn' you didn't know what to do next. You didn't expect this to happen.

"I guess that means we can go out, right?" He sighed leaning back on his chair. Your cheeks reddened immensely.

This was all happening too fast. But without realising you nodded, agreeing to being his girlfriend.

'Oh shit what have I just done?!' You thought. By the look of his face he was probably thinking that too.

"Are you seriously okay with this?" He asked. You really didn't know. Your brain was telling you to say no but you knew you'd end up regretting it.

"Y...yes!!!" You said taking his hand but then blushing. "I really want this!" He gave you his signature smile and you felt your heart melt.

Suddenly the bell rang. School had started but this time you could think straight. You did stare at him from time to time but you could concentrate again.

That's when you thought to yourself.

Maybe falling in love wasn't so bad!
