Chapter 1
8:09 PM
Dick Grayson was sickeningly bored, something, of course, that inevitably showed in his every movement, as he paced silently at his perch on the rooftops, his light combat boots making inaudible thuds on impact with the concrete roof. He was restless, and bored, which was not a good combination when it came to the young, almost childish assassin, and so, he paced, his attempts at running off energy futile as he had to limit his movements. After all, if a little too enthusiastic, he'd set off alarms and a bunch of naughty people would be after him for attempted assassination.
Not, of course, that he particularly cared if he killed his target a little less subtle, and much more dramatically.
The killing was, after all, a lot more fun when you did the act with some flair. And besides, if his sources were correct, which they undoubtfully probably were, since they wouldn't dare be anything but correct, then even if he did attempt to do this nice and quietly like he usually did, there'd be some capes there to stop him.
Like Batman, and Superman, and maybe even the rest of the heroes in the big league.
...
He smiled viciously.
Morally ambiguous fools.
No one could keep him from a target.

8:12 PM
Grayson abruptly put a sudden stop to his pacing, as he glanced at the glowing numbers that told him the time, something only he could see at the edge of his vision.
Quietly, he crept down the roof with careful practice, with a grace to his movements that even Batman himself would be jealous of. Light on his feet, he leaped down, deadly silent onto one of the many window ledges to avoid the familiar roving red light of a surveying motion sensor.
He took a calming, silent intake of breath before he once more glanced at the time. It was four minutes away from when a certain someone took a quick break for coffee, and it left a gap in security that he was currently about to take advantage off.
He landed outside of the window of his intended entry point, swiftly pulling a device out into the open, all while counting the seconds till the next sweep of security over his current position.
The device clung to the carefully polished glass on contact, swiftly cutting a circle just the right size for a child's body to fit through with a polished laser.
He entered just in time to avoid the blinking red light that swept over where he'd been seconds ago without a pause as the device blinked green and reapplied the cut glass to its original place, leaving no sign of entry.
A calming outtake of breath as he climbed spider-like onto the ceiling, his fingers sticking to the smooth surface with adhesive ease. Any sign of the contact would dissolve within minutes.
The ease of it made him almost wish for the capes to find him and make things harder.
As expected, the guard had left his post, as he usually did at exactly 8:15, a routine which was making things much too easy for certain lurking assassins.
He crawled out the room into the sterile, dim lit hallway, avoiding the cameras that would give way to his location with the slightest mistake.
This was too easy...

8:19 PM
"Batman, are you certain they'll strike tonight?"
The vigilante turned towards the impatient speaker, a scowl on his face that was obvious even despite the cowl. "Of course they will. You didn't doubt me before."
"But it's been hours, and -
The speaker fell sheepishly silent at the all too renowned glare.

8:20 PM
Dick frowned as his carefully thrown knife was send skittering away from its target, an all too familiar bat leaping from above to send the sharp object of its course.
The Bat himself turned to face him.
He smiled.
"It seems the night is about to go from boring to eventful, Batsy boy."

...
Short chapter, right?
Sucky too....
