Chapter 3
Third POV: 6 Months Later
The rough push to the cool stone floor was nothing new to Ailana as she was pushed into the auction cell once more. It was the fifth auction cell within the six months she's been in captivity. She had four successful biddings but each one that won the auction mysteriously was found dead with their throats twisted and their eyes frozen in fear. Her nickname in the auction house had turned from "darling salvage cult girl" to "the devil's proxy girl" most had chopped it up to those who held grudges but they never knew the actual stories.
It comes with the benefit that Ailana knew all the prayers to get her exact revenge. The clicking of the bottoms of heeled shoes tapped against the stone floors as the soft glow of a torch lit up the cell. Staying silent Ailana listened to the clicking of the raised heel. "You seem to have many but your beauty keeps dragging them in," the rough voice of the auction host said as Ailana was familiar with this host. Her first captor, the captor that killed her village her mother and father, and her brother. "But I have a feeling of a great cut tonight after all tonight is the full moon," the auction host teased as Ailana huffed to the side, "nevertheless, wonder if you will stay at your new master's house or not. How long will it take for you to come turning back up here and how many times will you be sold and brought back?"
Ailana stood silent as she traced a symbol in the dust before a scream took place several cells down. "What in the bloody hell?!" the auction host growled as a monster rampant through the halls lined with cells. Making its way down the line straight at the auction host. All the man could do was yell in shock and horror as the monster ran past swallowing him whole. The symbol Ailana had just drawn glowed lightly in a purple hue. "This will be the last one you ran after all the big scary monster will be taking your life," Ailana sighed as she swiped away the dust as the creature came back around and broke the lock off her cell as she stood and pushed the door open as she petted the creature, "good boy, you have always answered when I called but you must be tired go home and rest in the dark forest where Mother Shub-Niggurath resides."
The creature raised its head before giving a soft whine nudging Ailana's side. Giving her a sign that the creature wanted her to follow them back. "I must apologize," Ailana laid a hand on top of the creature's head, "I cannot come with you, my rage could never quell after finding out what happened to my village. I must seek my vengeance to the end," Ailana sighed sadly as the creature nudged her once more. The creature has been doing this nudging for the last three times she has summoned the creature. Truth be told the creature is one of the many offspring of the original thousand young, hence the strong urging from the creature for her to head back with them to the dark forest. It has been five months since the quake and the majority of the presence of the eldritch gods dwindled to deep slumber.
Only a select few remained awake along with one who started to walk amongst the human race. Ailana has sensed the presence close a few times, mostly when she summons the creature for the heavy-duty work of her revenge. "Maybe naming you would be somewhat comforting since it seems it is always you that comes forth when summoning," Ailana thought aloud as the creature stopped nudging seemingly to purr approving. "How about... Zima?" The creature stopped purring before going back to nudging Ailana, "fine not Zima..... How about Noc?" The creature stopped nudging before purring again loving the name. Noc is an older name that means the same as Night. "Noc it is," Ailana huffed happily as she petted Noc's head, "now head back, or else you will be hunted by the bad humans." Ailana ushered Noc towards the back entrance.
Noc followed command as the mist followed into the rocked walls and Noc ran into the mist disappearing as the mist went as fast as it came. "Now, I need more blood to be spilled," Ailana sighed coldly as she turned around as more men came running in shouting for her to get down onto the ground. She kneeled as she was once more bound and brought elsewhere and was bought once more. Killing another ten men and their families with the help of Noc she giggled maniacally, "it's so strange that many don't realize by now that I am their doom when they so call buy me as a slave girl. Oh, I forget what is number is this," she sighed as she sat upon the back of Noc as she glared down at her newest so-called 'master', "Noc have you been keeping count?" Noc growled as the 'master' shrieked in fear and back against the wall, "oh that's right number 45 through 50 such a shame maybe if your kingdom didn't kill off my village and sold the women and children into slavery you wouldn't be here begging for your lives from a monstrous creature and it's insane summoner now would you?"
The crush of the neck and skull started to grow satisfactory to Ailana. Hair was a mess and their clothing was ragged as she walked the cold ground onto the next target. Humming softly as the snowflakes fell onto the ground. "I miss mother and father... Even brother Rhyden. The sight of blood still chills me from that day," Ailana spoke softly as Noc was beside her listening, "my brother had yelled for me to run to the safety of the dark forest into the safety of the eldritch gods, especially to the safety of Shub-Niggurath's. If only had I listened instead of freezing up and crying for the loss of my brother as they showed no mercy to his deceased corpse." Noc gave a huff showing their discomfort as they stopped near the cliff overlooking the edging property of the next kingdom citizen. "I suppose if I had reached the dark forest that day I wouldn't have to suffer this dreaded world filled with blastoma humans who overwrite and over-dictate their own beliefs and morals. Ah, there's our next one I can go alone from her Noc. I'll summon you when it is time," Ailana gave a soft pat on Noc's head.
Noc grunted as the mist swept them away leaving Ailana alone unknowingly that this victim would be the last as she was captured as soon as she hit the bottom of the hill and was practically caged several feet in the air hanging in the dark for 2 years.
~~~Time Skip: Two Years~~~
The silence was all that Ailana could hear or do. No dust was collected so she could summon Noc. No light was embraced little food and water reached her lips within the last two years. Ailana's energy and consciousness were weak at this point as the sound of a creaking door sounded distant and the clicking of heeled shoes moving closer to the cage Ailana hung from. The scuff of the heels against the stone stopped as the warm embrace of the glow of a lit torch eminent the room. The orange glow brought Ailana back from the depths of the darkness as she looked at the fire but not the one wielding it. "What was so special about that cult village that you were killing the men of the kingdom?" The husky voice of a middle age man said as Ailana scuffed before sitting up.
"My father was the chief and my mother was a wonderful figure of such a village. Every one of those villagers was my family not by blood but by the community. Your pathetic men killed them off so as the chief's daughter I was merely returning the favor," Ailana's voice sounded rash as she hasn't used her voice within the two years until now. Her voice sounded so alien to herself as she hasn't heard anything in a long time besides the mere clicking of heels on stone, "but what do you know about family all you ever accomplish is the morality of others' death and greed. No wonder why the Eldritch Gods entertained themselves with watching humans with such humor as to watching kingdoms such as yours."
A growl came from the man as he pulled a lever as the cage crashed down onto the stone floor. The squeaking of the damaged metal sounded as Ailana was lifted out of the broken cage and flung to the side as she slid onto the stone ground hitting the adjacent wall. Gasping with slight pain Ailana looked up, "shut your mouth you cultist savage." Ailana huffed towards the man before grinning.
"Calling me savage," Ailana chuckled, "says the man who locked me in this forsaken loop cycle of being caged and beaten and then constantly touched to a point where I bleed. I'm the savage, even the beast I summoned was more thoughtful than you a mere mortal man." Ailana cackled wildly as she positioned herself to curl up holding her sides, "that reminds me how much time has it been since my last moon cycle? Was it nearly three months ago since my last moon cycle? Could it be I've gained weight as my stomach had grown a bit within two months?"
The realization that Ailana said and thought aloud along with the man turned from shock to horror. The man experienced horror forming as though being a baron and already having a fiance he had created a child with said, cultist slave. Ailana's horror was for the fact that this would be her first child. Her wish that she made with Shub-Niggurath was formed by the acts of multiple assaults. Tears formed but she did not show them. "Y-You mad woman," the man struggled with his voice.
"Call me mad," Ailana snapped back coming to conclusions, "but madness was formed within me from my very birth as you said many times over these past two years." The man scoffed as he turned the clicking of the heels hitting against the stone flooring before the clicking of a closing door sounded throughout the empty room. Seconds passed before Ailana softly sobbed at the knowledge of her recent words. Her wish was used up, her healthy baby girl is coming soon but not in the village she had imagined but in this enclosure known as her prison.
Several days went by but no visit from the man, Ailana noted as she sat against the stone wall. Strange as it was Ailana found relief in knowing the man might've lost interest in her. The clicking of heels and the soft brushing of fabric moved across the ground as it grew closer before the door creaked and the warm light of a flame hit upon her face as the soft scuffling of fabric came much closer and lifted her hand placing two cold thin limbs on her exposed wrist. "This child does show the normal pulse rate of ones who are pregnant," the mellow tone of the new voice rang in her ear, "and you say this is the infamous eldritch cultist killer. A mere girl who looks no older than 16 moons?"
The gruff voice of another answered, "This vile thing is more of a spitfire than what she is leading on why do you think she encaged this long for two years in complete darkness? Any sane man would've gone mad within several months. You talk madness like the several villages we burned with cultists like them." Ailana glared at the man before she felt her arm move once more. The others in the room mumbled under their breath as they moved her hand back to the resting position on her lap.
"I would refrain your speech as if it is true that she is under the protection of eldritch gods then it would be best not to doom us all here in this village," the mellow tone turned rough speaking out, "do not listen to this baron, I am a mage from three villages towards the east and am traveling to help with disaster relief after the grand slumber of many gods and demons happened. I am [______] what is your name?" Ailana looked at this figure and noticed more of a smaller frame of a human and a thin posture. Ailana complicated her thoughts and words before humming as her voice came out scratchy.
"Ailana," she said. The Mage nodded their head before moving to the other side and gently placing their bone-like fingers on her neck, shoulder blade, and at the nap of her smaller back. Curious to what this mage was doing Ailana asked aloud, "what might you be doing by touching me?"
The mage made a slight pause before speaking, "I am trying to sense your mana power points and finding the energies to where I can sense the time development of the new soul that resides in you, Ailana." The mage continued to touch certain areas before moving back away from Ailana, humming before the shadow from the mage moved once more to towering over Ailana, "I have a diagnosis now. Though young and risky the young one is about 16 and a half moons along with the new soul being freshly developed around the benchmark of a quarter moon so about 2 months now."
The man stiffened as Ailana noted her suspicions were correct two months she has had a child growing within her. "And what else," the man asked.
"The little one seems to have some sort of protection around them like a magic barrier around them so not even the strongest of mages could do a single thing to the growing infant inside the girl not even killing the girl will affect the infant," the mage crossed their arms, "even if you attempt the girl's life I fear your life will be taken and the girls would be spared considering the dark mana I felt when I was moving around. It seems ancient dark mana protects both the girl and the unborn child. Don't attempt faith if I was you, Baron Greth."
The man stiffens even more, "but my betrothal to Lady Fayheatt what am I supposed to do?" The Mage shrugged before turning back around.
"That is for the village elders and the council to decide as I have results as they had serviced me for so whatever is the judgment you have to deal with said judgment," the mage said before walking towards the door. "Lead the way I need to report on my services," the mage's voice commanded before the man scoffed and left with the mage leaving Ailana in the dark once more.
