Smile Gordon
Jason kept smiling as he turned back to the window. He put all his senses on high alert and it was beginning to wear down on him. He resisted the urge to rub his eyes as he scanned the streets for threats. Gordon was a good friend to Batman and himself. No way was he going to let both down in one night.
His tired masked eyes spotted two dark blue cars driving down the street. Jason frowned as he watched the two cars turn the corner. He moved silently to the corner window to keep tracking the cars. His internal clock told him it was about 2:30ish in the morning. And there were no other cars on the road.
“Commissioner,” Jason said sternly, causing the old man to slightly jump in his seat. Gordon looked to the place where he originally was before homing in on his actual spot.
“What is it?” Gordon asked calmly. Jason briefly wondered if Gordon visually show being worried. He quickly pushed that thought aside as he asked,
“When's shift change?” Jason's eyes narrowed as he read the license plates. The lead one said Smile what the other read Gordon.
“0330,” Gordon said, twisting his wrist to look at his watch. He frowned slightly as Jason started moving towards the door.
“What are you doing?” He demanded as Jason slid the chain into place, as well as turning the locks on the handle. Jason ignored the older man as he grabbed the commissioner. Jason dragged him to the bathroom, Gordon cursing all the way.
The bathroom was placed on the wall that connect to the rest of apartment complex, and right next to the master bedroom. There were no windows so people couldn't get in except through either the door or blowing a hole in the wall. The downside that the only way in or out was the door.
“Two cars. Pulled up on the East side of the building. Plates say 'Smile Gordon’. Joker's here,” Jason finally told Gordon as he gently shoved him in the bathroom. Gordon looked at Jason and for the briefest moment, Jason thought he saw a tiny amount of fear before the Commissioner snapped out of it.
Gordon nodded in understanding of what Jason was doing.
“Stay in here. Lock the door and get ready. Only answer if I knock like this,” Jason knocked out a pattern on the wood, “Ok?”
“Be safe, Robin,” Gordon said after he nodded ‘yes’ again. Jason gave the elderly man a cocky smirk.
“Have I ever not been?” Jason asked rhetorically before closing the door. He heard Gordon lock it from the inside as he went to turn off all the lights. He then went into the darkest corner in the apartment to wait for the Clown Prince of Crime to make his move.
Another chapter for yous. Lemme know if you still like it and we'll see what happens next time.... When I remember to update the story.
