𝟎𝟎𝟒 | 'best friends'

After waking Olivia up and attempting to get her excited for their long day of world saving, the two were making their way to an eye lab. Just the place teenagers loved to hang out.

Olivia followed the boy up the stairs, an iced honey latte in her hands. "I swear you better take me shopping." She muttered, adjusting the skirt once again. Upon aging down, Olivia had lost a few of her curves, making the skirt hang a little too loose. She had pinned it with a safety pin, but she wasn't a massive fan of it being baggy.

"If you'll shut up."

Olivia rolled her eyes, continuing to follow Five around the building. Five gripped the eyeball in his hand, looking to check it was there every other minute or so.

Soon enough a man spotted the very out of place teenagers. His brows

A man spotted the humans and the bird, his strides came to a stop as he hid brows furrowed and his body turned to face them. The man behind the desk, leaned slightly forward. "Uh, can I help you?" He asked them.

The children turned towards him. Olivia grabbed Fives arm and dragged him to the front desk. She let go, leaned against it, twirling her hair between her fingers. "Hi." She said softly, a pretty smile decorating her face.

She took the eye from Five's hands, she held it between the fingers. Olivia held back her gag. Five watched with mild amusement. "Would you be able to help us, please." She asked kindly, her voice much softer than usual. "We want to return this eye, I dread to think of how hard it must be right now." Olivia said, her bottom lip gently falling between her teeth, her brows softly pinched together and her she's wide.

The man watched with his eyes wide. "I-uh. Where did you, Uhm, get that?" The man shifted in his seat, meeting eyes with Five. Five stared blankly at the man.

Olivia pushed the boy back slightly with the back of her hand, keeping the eye secure in her fist. "Well, why do you need to know?" She asked lowly, head slightly tilted, eyelashes fluttering. "Can I trust you?" She whispered.

The man nodded.

Olivia had always been more of a people person then Five. Typically he'd be in the man's face, begging with hi defensiveness and brute force. But once again, Olivia could lull people into a false sense of security.

"We were, well playing I suppose you could say, and well, we found it you see. Playing near the lake."

Five started at the back of her head, his face feeling ever so slightly warm. Him and Olivia had never and would never "play".

"It would be a shame to think how much they must be struggling, I would love to relieve him and give it back."

The man smiled back at her. What a lovely girl. The man hummed. "What a thoughtful girl you are." He leaned forward more, Olivia looked at him, her eyes wide, her lips painted to be slightly shiny.

"Will you help me, please?" She asked in her sweet voice, her eyebrows still slightly pulled together, her eyes pleading him. "I need your help, sir."

The man almost did want to help her. He wanted to give her the records, tell her everything she'd need. He wanted to make Olivia's life easier. But, the laws would not let him. He looked at the young girl. "I'm sorry, but patient records are strictly confidential." The man began, underestimating the fifteen-year-old brains. "That means I can't tell you—"

Olivia cut him off, her finger ghosting her lip as it moved from her hair. "I can keep it confidential."

He really did want to help. "I'm sorry, I'd loose my job and my house and my family."

He watched Olivia, completely forgetting about Five who would peer over her shoulder. She reminded the man of a porcelain doll, so creepy and beautiful. She simply gave of danger, as if one wrong move would set her off — and he was correct with such thoughts. As stunning as Olivia was, she was equally as terrifying.

"But, I'll tell you what I can do." He said, his voice somewhat unsteady as his eyes stayed on the short girl. "I will take the eye off your hands and return it to the owner." He dared to take his eyes from the girl and to the boy. . "I'm sure he or she will be very grateful, so if I can just—" he moved his hand to grab the eye.

Five pushed Olivia's arm away, before placing it infront of her. A wild look upon his face. "Yeah, you're not touching this eyeball." Five defended.

"Now you listen here, young man—"

Five latched his fists around the man's collar. He brought the man down to his height. Anger lined his face. Olivia stared down at the eyeball, a grimace on her face as she held it with two fingers and away from herself. She hadn't had time to think of the disgusting thing she was holding. "No! You listen to me, asshole." Five snapped at him. "I've come a long way for this, through some shit your pea brain couldn't even comprehend, so just give us the information we need and we'll be on our merry way. And if you call me young man one more time, I'm going to put your head through that damn wall."

"Call security!" The man shouted.

Olivia huffed, grabbed Fives arm and dragged him out the building. "You stupid boy." She seethed. "Where's my coffee?"

"You put it on the desk."

Five and Olivia made it to the Umbrella Academy. The girl had taken her time to admire the place her partner in crime had grown up in, despite the horrors that had laid within the wall it was still beautiful. Large, open and beautiful.

Five had led the girl to his room, grabbing a certain adult man in the process. Olivia made herself comfortable on the bed, still waiting to be taken shopping and for a replacement coffee.

Before Klaus could ask how the two had met or why a twenty five year old would be interested in an elderly man (other then a cash grab, which Klaus could respect) Five had begun to tell Klaus exactly what he had to do and to wear professional clothes.

Klaus was mithed when Five shoved him out the room and slammed his door shut.

"So you have an attitude with everyone, not just me?"

Five raised an eyebrow. "I have an attitude? You have an attitude. And an unnecessary need to flirt."

"We'd have got it if you'd stayed put!"

"No, you'd have been on your knees! Have you always been desperate?"

Olivia laughed a short bitter sound. "Desperate?!"

The two continued to bicker, Olivia going as far as calling Five a virgin - which he was happy to remind her of Delores.

The two were stood in each others faces, they loved eachother as friends often did, but similar they'd still smack the other around the face at any given chance. Or, they'd rather one up each other. As friends often do.

Soon enough Klaus was back, dressed as curtains, for lack of better description, opening the door widely and standing in a model pose.

Five nor Olivia got time to question as the sound of someone calling for the boy forced a split in thoughts. Five muttered a name before shoving Klaus into the closet.

Upon shutting his closet doors Five turned to Olivia, hands clasped together. "Bed."

"And you call me desperate?"

Before she could carry on Five shoved the girl under the bed, causing her to smack her head against the frame. She yelped in pain, putting a hand to her head as her eyes watered with pain. She wasn't weak she just didn't particularly enjoy smacking her head against the wood. Olivia did not understand why she was being hidden. But vibes a vibe...

She managed to get the water away and lay there, acting dead. Five could have killed her, and not to be dramatic or anything but Olivia was far too good for death.

The woman — Olivia presumed it was Vanya who Five had taken them to stay at — entered the boy's bedroom. Olivia never cared much for Hargreeves, she had once read Vanya's book, mind it was Five's copy which had his own edits and extracts crossed out.

"Thank god. I was worried sick about you." She told the boy as Five turned from his window and to her.

"Sorry I left without saying goodbye."

Vanya stayed at his doorway, she watched her brother with soft eyes. "No, look, I'm the one that should be sorry." Five moved from his window and closer to his sister, curious to where she was going with this. "Yeah, I was dismissive, and, I-I guess I didn't know how to process what you were saying, and I still can't, to be honest."

Five briefly glanced away. "Maybe you were right to be dismissive." He decided. Maybe pushing her out of harm's way was the best way to protect her from the end of the world. He scoffed, turning away again. "Maybe it wasn't real after all. It felt real, well, like you said, the old man did say time travel could contaminate the mind."

"But your friend?"

"She's really delusional, drugs have messed with her mind. I wouldn't worry about Olivia."

Vanya furrowed her brows. Only yesterday he was staring at the sleeping girl with gentle admiring eyes, sleeping in an uncomfortable position just to keep her comfy. "Where is Olivia?"

Five blinked at her. "Shopping? Olivia likes shopping, she's a girl."

Vanya wasn't going to argue. Even if the statement didn't sound entirely true - the liking shopping was probably reasonable, but he sounded like he was questioning himself. "Are you dating?"

"She's like half my age." Five stated, shaking his head. Before remembering his 'delusions' of the end of the world. "Well, I suppose she's pretty ok, I suppose? Just friends, best friends."

"Listen, maybe I'm not the right person for you to be talking to. Look, I used to see someone, a therapist, I could give you her information."

Five let out a deep breath. "Thanks, but I think I'm just gonna get some rest. It's been a long time since I've had a good sleep."

"Right," Vanya said, and with that she was gone, allowing her brother to go to sleep or whatever else he decided he must do.

Upon Vanya leaving, Five moved to shut the door and Klaus loudly clambered out of the closet, things clattering against the floor.

Olivia rolled herself out from under the bed, forcing herself up before sitting on top of the bed, glaring at Five.

"Not much for dying, Five!"

"You hit your head, if I wanted you to be dead, you would be. Would you both shut up? She'll hear you."

"I'm moist."

"What if I have a concussion?"

"Which you don't."

Olivia scoffed, folding her arms. "Hope I die now, hope it traumatises you."

Five smiled at the girl, a fake toothy one. His smile never reaching his eyes. "I can't wait, best friend."

Olivia smacked his arm. "Best friend. I'm more than pretty ok, you're truly missing out."

Five sighed, taking his attention far from his partner and over to his brother. Maybe Klaus hadn't heard him when he said professional. Or maybe Klaus ignored him. "I told you to put on something professional."

"What?" Klaus asked, gesturing to his bold choice top. "This is my nicest outfit."

Olivia eyed the outfit. "It's bold for sure, I mean I bet we could work with it, the trousers with a mesh top would look hot." Olivia went on, pursing her lips at the shirt, she clicked her tongue a few times. "And burning that shirt, well that would definitely be hot."

Klaus looked at the girl. "You are so right, I have a mesh top I can change into?" He offered, looking Fives approval.

Five sighed at the two. "We'll raid the old man's closet."

"Whatever, as long as I get paid."

"When the job is done."

"Can I get paid?"

"No, I'm taking you shopping." He shook his head at her. Five watched the girls face go from misery to pure delight in a matter of seconds.

"Okay, but just so we're clear on the finer details, I just gotta go into this place and pretend to be your dear old dad, correct?" Klaus asked, trailing behind the teenagers who were muttering amongst themselves.

The three came to a stop and the two in front turned to face the man.

"Yeah. Something like that." Five agreed. It was a simple enough request, it couldn't go too wrong, surly. Oh, how wrong he was.

"What's our cover story?" Klaus questioned his arm out slightly.

"What? What are you talking about?" Five asked, staring up at his brother.

Olivia leaned her weight back on one of her legs and crossed her arms. She tilted her head, moving her hair from one shoulder to another in the process.

"I mean, was I really you when I had you? Like, sixteen? Like, young and terribly misguided?" Klaus asked, putting on a mock of sorrow in his voice as he placed his hands to his chest.

"Sure." Five said. It was probably easier to go along with whatever Klaus said.

"Your mother, that slut. Whoever she was. We met at . . ." Klaus drew off, looking over at Olivia for help. If anyone would be on his wavelength or was the dramatic twenty-five-year-old in a fifteen-year-old body.

"The disco."

"Yes! The disco, that's so sexy."

"I'm aware."

"At the disco. Okay? Remember that." Klaus told Five, his hands still on his chest as Five just nodded trying to hurry this all up. Klaus snapped his fingers and the teens carried on watching in polar opposite expressions, whilst Olivia was grinning and having a great time, Five was regretting his life decisions and wondering if by any chance he could simply undo getting adopts. "Oh, my God, the sex was amazing."

"What a disturbing glimpse into that thing you call a brain." Five said, turning around and guiding the three to where they must be.

"Don't make me put you in time-out." Klaus threatened. "Do I have two children? Are you dating?"

"Best friends."

"Like I said to your son and his girlfriend earlier, any information about the prosthetics we build is strictly confidential. Without the client's constant, I simply can't help you."

Klaus was somewhat lounging in his chair opposite the doctor guy whilst Olivia and Five were forced to be stood witnessing what was going on. Olivia was standing behind Klaus whilst Five was stood leaning his weight on the table via his hands.

"Well, we can't get consent if you don't give us a name."

"Well, that's not my problem."

Olivia furrowed her brows, tilting her head slightly. "Kind of is."

"It's really not."

"How can we help him then?"

The man stared at the porcelain doll-like girl, she still emulated danger and he couldn't help but wonder if she was the perfect suit for either a little girl in a horror film or the perfect model for one of those creepy dolls, maybe it was both. There was something so scarily beautiful about her that made people ignore the dangers around her.

"Sorry. Now, there's really nothing more I can do, so—"

Klaus looked between the other three, deciding upon his words and his eyes rested upon the man in a white blazer. "And what about my consent?"

"Excuse me?"

"Who gave you permission to lay your hands on my son and his girlfriend?" He asked, his voice shaking as he acted out the worry and fear one would feel if their child(ren) were assaulted in any sort of way.

"What?" The three asked.

"You heard me."

"I didn't touch your son." The man said, his eyes on Five before turning to the girl. "O-or his girlfriend."

"Oh, really?" Klaus asked, leaning forward in his chair, hands on his knees. "Well, then how did he get that swollen lip, and where did she get that black eye, then?"

Olivia's eyes widened. Stepping back. Olivia did not need face injuries. She was already a teenager, injuries were not needed.

"They don't have—"

In one quick motion, Klaus swung a fist at Five's jaw, making the boy grunt and the doctor gasp.

Olivia closed her eyes, as Klaus swung at her eye. She winced in pain, opening her eyes to see Klaus' sorry ones looking at her. He mouthed a sorry and she brushed him off. She placed a hand to her eye, feeling the skin, she was highly aware that in only a short amount of time it was going to be pretty bruised. "Fucking bastard." She mumbled, prodding it a little too hard.

Klaus inhaled sharply as the teenagers recovered. He turned to look at the doctor. "I want it. Name, please. Now." He demanded, leaning against the table by his hands.

Olivia and Five glanced at one another before looking at Klaus. They were now stood side by side checking each others facial injuries.

"You're crazy."

Klaus chuckled in agreement. "You got no idea." Klaus' attention turned to the table, looking at a particular snow globe. He picked it up, turning it in his fingers, both to admire it and to read whatever was written on it. The doctor's eyes widened in worry. His globe was at stake. "'Peace on Earth.' That's so sweet." But soon enough the glass shattered it as Klaus slammed it against his head. Klaus groaned in pain whilst Olivia and Five stared at him in a mixture of worry and general concern along with 'what the fuck?' "God, that hurt!" Klaus let out, looking up to reveal both blood and water dripping from his head.

Olivia lifted the base of the snow globe, reading the words of warning to make sure there were no harmful chemicals that could enter his bloodstream. It said something about glycerin, which she was, sure enough, wasn't toxic or too bad. She placed the base down.

The doctor man picked up the phone quickly —Olivia didn't blame him, she would have done the same— and began to dial for what one can only assume was security or the police.

"I'm calling secur—"

Klaus snatched the phone off him.

"What are you doing?!"

Klaus brought the phone to his ear, trying to ignore the pain. "There's been an assault in Mr Big's office, and we need security, now. Schnell!" He slammed the phone down. "Now, here's what's gonna happen, Grant."

"It's Lance."

"Oh, I wouldn't admit that. It's nearly as bad as being called a number." Olivia whispered to Five, a teasing grin on her lips. Five nudged his shoulder against Olivia's.  The girl turned and smirked at the boy that rolled his eyes.

"Two guys are gonna burst through that door, and they're gonna see a whole lot of blood, and they're gonna wonder, 'what the hell happened?', and we're gonna tell them that you, beat the shit out of us."

Whilst Klaus mocked out a crying voice, Five smirked proudly at his brother and Olivia seemed to mirror his expression. What a bizarre little situation.

"You're gonna do great in prison, Grant. Trust me, I've been there. Little piece of chicken like you. Oh, my God, you're gonna get passed around like a—" he didn't finish his sentence as he rolled his hips instead. "You're just, you're gonna do great. That's all I'm saying."

"Jesus, you are a real sick bastard."

"Thank you."

Klaus turned and spat out a shard of glass.

It seemed like that was enough to scare Lance into doing their bidding. Klaus was sat on the desk facing the man with his full body whilst Olivia and Five stood over him, arms crossed and cold looks on their face.

Lance pulled out a file, looking between the three in fear. He briefly read over it. "Oh, that's strange."

"What?"

"Uh, the eye. It hadn't been purchased by a client yet."

Klaus jumped off the table, causing Lance to flinch. "What? What do you mean?" He asked, moving to read over the man's shoulder.

"Well, uh, our logs say that the eye with that serial number. This can't be right. It hadn't even been manufactured yet." He looked away from his file to Olivia and Five.

The teens looked at one another then back at the man. Five let out an irritated sigh whilst Olivia pulled her lips into tight thin line. The question was left unanswered as the three left the room and even the building.

"Well, this is not good." Five stated as they stepped out of the building.

"I was pretty good, though, right?" Klaus asked, disinterested in whatever was running through his brother's mind. "'Yeah. What about my consent, bitch?'" Klaus chuckled to himself, feeling giddy and proud.

"Klaus, it doesn't matter." Five said, causing the three to come to a stop.

Klaus turned to Five. "What? What? What's the big deal with this eye, anyway?"

Five stepped closer and Olivia stepped back, not truly interested in getting caught up if there was a fight. "There is someone out there who's going to lose an eye in the next seven days. They're gonna bring about the end of life on this Earth as we know it." Five walked past Klaus, planning to leave and find an old friend.

"Yeah, can I get that twenty bucks, like, now, or what?"

"Your twenty bucks?"

"Yeah, my twenty bucks."

Noticing this was going to be a long day, Olivia went and sat down on the steps. She rested her elbows on her knees, her head on her hands.

"The apocalypse is coming, and all you can think about is getting high?" Five asked, taking steps closer as he stared up at his brother.

"Well I'm also quite hungry, tummy's a-rumbling'." Klaus said before imitating the noise.

"You're useless. You're all useless!"

Olivia clicked her tongue. "You wound me, Hargreeves." The girl said, placing a hand to her forehead, leaning her head back.

"Oh, come on." Klaus began as Five made his way to the steps taking a seat on the other side of Olivia. "You need to lighten up, old man." Klaus stared at where Five once stood and now over to where he sat. "Hey, you know, I've just now realised why you're so uptight." He came and sat next to his brother.

"You must be horny as hell!" Klaus decided. "All those years by yourself. It's gotta screw with your head, being alone."

Five gave the three a few seconds to think. "Well, I wasn't alone."

"I'm sure Olivia hasn't screwed you, she looks like she has standards."

Five scoffed. "They're not high." Olivia grabbed a rock and threw it at the boy. Laughing as it bounced of his head. Five rolled his eyes. "But I wasn't alone, before I met Olivia."

"Oh? Pray tell."

"Her name was Delores." Five said, turning his eyes from the far distance to his brother, a hint of a smile on his lips. "We were together for over thirty years."

"Zero."

"Thirty!"

"Actually, she's not real."

"It was thirty. Were you there Olivia? No? It was thirty years."

"Thirty years? Oh, wow!" Klaus chucked. He seemed surprised people's relationships lasted more than a few weeks or months at most. "God, the longest I've been with someone was, I don't know, three weeks. And that's only because I was so tired of looking for a place to sleep."

Five wasn't interested as he reached his hand down to Olivia. The girl took it, the two disappearing into a crumble of blue.
