Chapter 5
It would take us three days to make it to headquarters so we started out early. We'd been walking for over an hour when we decided to stop. I could tell Daxton wasn't used to walk for so long. One thing Camp Militia teaches you is how to keep going for days. "Five minutes then we move." I tell him. "Yea, ok." He wheezes out as he takes a gulp from his canteen. "So how long till we get to headquarters?" He asks as he wipes the back of his palm across his brow. "Well, I originally was thinking three days, but with how you're acting it might be more like five." I tell him giving a small smile. "Five days. Wow, ok then, I guess we best get a move on."

"Dusk is falling. We best make camp here." I tell Daxton. "Stay here. I'm going to collect fire wood." "Ok, I'll start on the food."
As I'm walking around looking for timber I hear rustling coming from behind me. I stand still feeling for any indication of wind, but it was perfectly still. I bend down, acting as though I'm looking through the grass for something, but I'm really grabbing my dagger. I stand up with an arm full of timber and start walking in the direction of camp. As I'm walking I feel someone wrap their arm around my waist and cover my mouth. "Now, what's a pretty thing like you doing out here." The man says. "Hey, guys. Look what John's caught." Another man yells as he comes from behind a tree, and as he does more men come out. "What should we do with it?" John asks the others. "How about we ask her." The man who came from behind the tree said. "Ok, what do you say sweetie." He says in a sickening voice that sends chills through my body and makes me feel like I'm covered in something slimy. He removes his hand letting me talk. I take a deep breath settling my nerves as I say, "How about this." I slam my head into John's nose which gives way to a satisfying crack. I pick my dagger up off the ground and throw it, landing it in one guys throat. I withdraw my sword from my side and drive it into another guys heart. In about five minutes I've killed all but the man from behind the tree.
I back him up to the tree with my sword pressed firmly against his throat. "Would you care to know who you and your friends just attacked?" I ask him. Giving him the devil's smile. He gives a fast nod to my question. I pull out my badge, which indicates that I'm part of the guard. When he sees this his eyes wide to the size of saucers. "Now, you're scum, so you must hear things. You all do. So, tell me. Have you seen anyone or heard of anyone claiming they've found a cure?" I quickly see his attitude change from fear to cocky. He knows something and he wants me to know he does. "It'll cost you." He says. "Like what?" I ask, pretending to play along with his little game. "Fifty gold." He tells me. "Ok." I reach down to my coin purse and grab fifty gold out and hand it to him. "Now tell me what I need to know." "There's roomer that a man has been trying to sell something. He claims it's the worlds solution. That it'll rid us of our biggest threat." "Where is he selling it." "On the back allies of Zlander Ville." "He's selling it in the capitol? How big of an idiot is he." I question to myself. "Do you know what he looks like?" "No, no one does. He never leaves the safety of his house. Not even the ones he does business with knows who he is. They say only one person knows who he is." "And who is that?" "His right hand man." He tells me. "And do you know who this man is?" "No, I don't. I've never been to Zlander Ville and I want to keep it like that." He says. "Right, well thanks for the information. And before I leave, may I remind you, next time someone asks for questions make sure that if you bargain make sure they don't have a weapon to your throat." With that I slit his throat and take my money back.
When I get back to camp Daxton is still there working on the food. "There you are. Where's the wood?" He asks. I look at my hands to see they're empty. So, I turn around to retrieve the wood. That night we ate, talked, and fell asleep. I didn't tell Daxton about what I had learned, I thought it best to wait. I still wasn't a hundred percent about Daxton, but something deep down told me I should.

Q&A Answers
Before I answer your questions I want to thank you for being such an amazing reader and supporter. Because of you this week I have written three chapters for this book, so thank you!💖
This chapter is dedicated to you!🤘
Q: What was used to create the cover of this book?
A: My dear friend bamagalforever used PicsArt for the cover.
Q: Why is this book Called "Killer Queen"?
A: Originally this book was going to be called "Rise Above", but with the help of my friend I came up with "Killer Queen". The main reason I decided on "Killer Queen" is because she's this fierce assassin living in a world of undead. And I think as the story progresses you'll get a bigger sense of that.
