❝AIN'T NO REST FOR THE
WICKED, UNTIL WE CLOSE
OUR EYES FOR GOOD.❞
STAINS OF BLOOD adorned Genevieve's beautiful features, a few droplets here or there, brought upon her smooth skin by the bar fight that had begun with Chloe interrogating the boyfriend of a rather jealous woman. Once Linda had called her a raging bitch, punches had started to fly and Ginny had been more than eager to take part in the squabble that gave her the opportunity to do what she was quite talented at — kicking ass. "Oh, how I've missed this!", the demon expressed her happiness quite loudly as she was being dragged away from the tiki bar that no longer allowed any of them in it, a devious smirk twisting her red lips as she glared at the women she had shamelessly beaten during the fight. It was often assumed that the queen didn't want to get her hands dirty, but she truly didn't mind the blood of her enemies stuck on her face or putting people back in their places.
"C'mon", Maze's hand suddenly gripped Ginny's arm so tightly it made the queen glare at her, but frankly, she didn't care. "I called Lucifer. He's coming to pick you up", the demon explained, and this made Genevieve laugh as she yanked away from Mazikeen, only for her body to lose balance and her feet to stumble on the empty street.
"Excuse me? I do not need a babysitter", Genevieve insisted, and just as she was about to rant about what an independent woman she was — a queen — Lucifer pulled up, the engine of his Corvette roaring proudly as the man stepped on the brakes and stood up from the leather seat. The sight of her husband made Genevieve roll her eyes, which then earned a smile from Mazikeen who nodded at her oldest friend before stepping away and leaving the two on the street. "I do not need a babysitter!", Genevieve repeated her words to Lucifer, who adjusted his jacket and approached the Shedevil with a sigh leaving his lips.
Shaking his head, Lucifer took Genevieve's hand in his, which surprised her enough for her eyes to widen and her body to step back, so the hold dropped. "I beg to differ. There's no telling what you'll do without adult supervision, darling. So, you'll— is that blood on your face?", Lucifer stared at his wife in disbelief, and as Ginny began to proudly explain how she had taken part in a bar fight, the Devil proceeded to wipe the droplets away with his thumb. The feeling of his gentle touch on her warm skin made Genevieve swallow all the words she had ready on the tip of her tongue, and all the wit and sass vanished for a moment there — her walls came down, and the stare in her eyes grew into something else entirely as she looked at Lucifer.
But it didn't last for long.
"Stop", she insisted, and in a blink of an eye, she had grabbed Lucifer's wrist and twisted until his fingers dropped from her face. "I can take care of myself. And if you happen to remember, I can't get drunk, so there's that", Genevieve cleared her throat as her jaw rose high in the air and the fond gaze in her eyes hardened into a spiteful glare yet again.
"Fair enough. But you are coming with me. We're going undercover, and I think you can handle a sex club better than most", Lucifer scoffed, and with that, he stepped back towards his Corvette and found himself sitting behind the wheel. Following his lead, Genevieve clapped her hands together before opening the door on the other side and falling onto the seat next to Lucifer's, a grin finding its way onto her lips again.
"Ooh, right", she grinned, "the show must go on!"
—————
LUCIFER AND GENEVIEVE were leaning against the man's black car as they waited in the parking lot, finding humor in kitten videos from his phone before heading into the sex party — at first, Ginny hadn't understood the allure of animals doing silly things, but by now, she was cackling with her husband as the foolish cats continued to amuse the people of YouTube. According to Lucifer, they were killing time whilst waiting for someone else to arrive, and frankly, Genevieve didn't really care — until the person finally showed up.
"Detective Douche!", Genevieve greeted the familiar face approaching the two, and as she grinned, Dan gave a dead serious look to Lucifer as if questioning his sanity.
"I thought it was guys only", Dan pointed out, still staring at Lucifer, who looked down to Genevieve in the belief that the queen would be more than able to get herself in despite being a woman. There was little she could not do, truthfully.
"With my help, you'll get all the information you could ever wish for. Stop being such a bore, detective", Genevieve rolled her eyes, before lifting her arm and smirking at Lucifer. "Shall we?", she nodded towards her arm, and rolling his eyes, Lucifer just walked past her with a slight nudge, which didn't make the Shedevil happy at all, but she decided to focus on the bigger picture and just add his idiocy to the pile of hatred developing in her mind.
The three walked over to the entrance, where they met up with a third person, and this time, Genevieve was at least a tad surprised. "What is she doing here?", Amenadiel grunted unhappily at the sight of Lucifer's Shedevil wife, and in return, the queen stuck out her tongue which only made the angel roll his eyes at her immaturity.
She was thoroughly disinterested in hearing what else they had to whine about, so as Dan proceeded to rant about not looking like a cop, Genevieve walked over to the guard at the front door and flashed him an irresistible smirk. That, along with her lingering touch on his cheek opened the door for her, and whilst the men were still arguing like little children, the queen found her way into the club with neon lights flickering all over the place and loud music booming from the speakers.
With her head moving along the beat and her high heels clicking against the floor, Genevieve wandered around until she ended up with a drink in her hand and her body swaying between two men. She hadn't spent that long on Earth, but it seemed that partying was kind of her thing, and something she profoundly enjoyed — maybe it was the confidence she found through the dance moves she used to lure more people in, or the carelessness given by alcohol, or the intoxicating beat of the music or the attention she was being showered with. Nevertheless, she was having fun, and that much was obvious to the three men shaking their heads at her.
So much for keeping a low profile.
However, she wasn't the only one in the party mood. Amenadiel, fueled by Cosmos, ended up dancing with the Shedevil herself, which was surprising to them both and Lucifer. The two had never gotten along, and Genevieve was more than sure than Amenadiel would be more than happy to send her ass back to the gates of Hell, but it seemed he was in a desperate need of some fun and in that case, he had come to the right person. The music kept the two dancing and silently bonding — no words were spoken, but at least they weren't trying to annihilate one another.
The dancing came to an end when a man bumped into Genevieve, causing his drink to spill onto her chest, and this obviously made her angry. With her grin fading into an expression of pure fury, the woman stopped swaying and glared at the stranger, who clearly regretted his stumbling now that he saw what his clumsiness had led to — Genevieve looked like she was going to tear off his head, and frankly, that sounded quite good to her.
"I'm sorry", the stranger tried, and breaking into a devilish smirk, Ginny nodded.
"You should watch where you're going", she advised, and just as she was about to place her hands on him, someone stepped between the two and Genevieve's eyes landed on a muscular back, covered with a black jacket, and it was easy for her to recognize the tall man in front of her.
Sighing, Ginny turned on her heel, upset that Lucifer would ruin her fun like that, but before she could storm off or find someone else to destroy, the Devil had grabbed her arm and stopped her from leaving. With a glare in her eyes, she faced her husband, but instead of meeting her eyes with equal wrath or disappointment, he broke into a smile and lowered his hold on her arm to her hand before pulling her away from the clumsy stranger.
"Humans don't very much appreciate murder, Gen", Lucifer pointed out with a chuckle, and unable to stop herself from smiling, the queen rolled her eyes but allowed the man to remain close to her. "Shall we?", he then gestured towards the dancing people around them, before offering his hands to Genevieve. The woman eyed him in disbelief, but as the fearless, bold creature she was, she ended up accepting the offer and started to move along the music that had never stopped playing.
"Yes, I've noticed that murder is barely taken lightly in this silly place. I've done it a few times. At least I got away with it", Ginny shrugged, before adding, "I always do", with her lips curling into a mischievous smirk.
Her words seemed to surprise Lucifer, and it was obvious he had millions of questions running in his mind, but he had time to ask none, when the queen had already elaborated. "You know I don't like when I don't get my way, Luci. Defying me is a terrible mistake, yet these humans keep on doing so anyway", Genevieve explained, earning a heavy sigh from Lucifer, but he settled for silence in the knowledge that there was no controlling Ginny, or making her any less cruel or cold. At least on purpose. But in reality, Earth was already working its magic on the Shedevil — but granted, there was much that couldn't be taken away from her, including that childish joy she felt when she got to hurt people and do whatever she pleased.
The music kept the two dancing, their bodies close and bringing some kind of a familiar feeling into the hot air. It was yet another sensation that Genevieve didn't quite understand, a warm feeling somewhere within her that made it impossible to hold back a smile, the momentary peace inside. But she didn't think much of it. Instead, she just danced along the beat and shamelessly moved closer to Lucifer until she could feel the warmth of his body, and his scent ended up lingering around her nose in the most intoxicating way. Even with the high heels, she was a bit shorter than him, and whenever she looked up, she was met with his flawless face, the otherwise smooth skin adorned with a rough stubble and the long eyelashes around his deep, endless eyes that she could have gotten lost in.
And for one sweet moment, she forgot about the people around them, and she was floating in some dreamy bubble that pushed away all the other sounds except the music, all the other sights except Lucifer, all the other feelings except his slender fingers against her burning skin. She didn't even realize it was happening, not until the bubble was burst by Detective Espinoza who tapped on Lucifer's shoulder and caused the man to pull away from Genevieve, making the woman realize how close they had been to each other.
Genevieve gulped and simply nodded her head as Dan and his Civilian Consultant strode off to do some policework, leaving her behind. A heavy sigh slipped from between her lips and her eyes closed — she didn't even realize what had happened, not until it was too late, and that was why she was so angry with Lucifer.
She wanted revenge. Lucifer had hurt her, and she wanted to hate him wholeheartedly. But she never could.
