"He's like a rock I tell you!"
Dramatically on a bed fell back a young man who complained to his friend. The companion however did not react anywhere close to how he did. The giant male that sat with his legs crossed simply chewed his chips as he stared at his friend blankly. Once his mouth was finally free of food, he spoke.
"I think you're overreacting."
"I am not!" Jimin huffed. "I'm telling you Chanyeol, he's the most expressionless person you will ever meet! We got yelled at and do you think he even so much as flinched?"
The red head looked around, already drifting away from the conversation whole. Jimin sighed, he snapped his fingers in his friends face to call him back. He looked to him ready to hear what next he would rant about.
"Well say something!" Jimin scoffed. "You're such an airhead today."
Chanyeol set down the snack on his lap, he held up his index finger. "First of all, I was eating and second of all, I think you're the weird one right now. So what if he acts like a rock! Let him be, why so intrigued by him Chimbles?"
At the nickname the younger cringed, he really didn't like it. The giant of his friend, also neighbor, found it absolutely genius while he thought the opposite of that. Whatever, it was not his biggest concern. The red head was giving him a suggestive look he wasn't enjoying so he rose from the bed to finish dressing himself for the day.
"Just give him a try, he might not be as bad as you think. Take me for example."
Jimin sighed as the memory of meeting the man slipped into mind. It was on the last trip from the moving truck to his brand new apartment. While he suffered to carry the boxes before that, the tall imitating looking man had watched him as he spoke on the phone. Jimin grew an annoyance of him just from looks so when he joined him in the elevator, he wasn't exactly thrilled.
"You moving into the apartment where the lady died?"
The question was enough to frighten the shorter man from head to toe. He looked terrified to the stranger, the giant looked dead serious and that scared Jimin.
"I'm messing with you."
Those words were enough for Jimin officially declare he hated the man. However when he did not laugh at the joke, Chanyeol took it in him to make him laugh after that. Sometimes they'd bump into each and he'd try to crack some jokes to which Jimin ignored or laughed sarcastically to get him off his back. In the end the real friendship was not established until one night, Jimin shift at a coffee shop ran later than usual causing him to miss the last bus which left him with an hour walk after work. Exhausted the young man walked the streets until half an hour away from home a car honked at him. Chanyeol had recognized him and decided that there would be the best place to joke with him. Jimin annoyed by only his presence, kept walking. The neighbor offered a ride yet he refused, only until he saw what appeared to be a gang up ahead. Jimin, coming from a small conservative town, the sight of many men crowded in a corner it meant a gang which meant bad news so with no choice left, he got in the car.
"Remember, you wanted the car to crash because you thought it was better than listening to me?"
Jimin laughed, it was true, he had even said so himself. Only fifteen minutes left of the ride did the annoyance stop and an honest connection was felt. Chanyeol quit the joking and spoke genuine with the stranger. Only then did Jimin come to recognize that the only intimating thing about the male was his stature, he was an actual dork. Jimin came to learn that more and more as they spoke for longer times in the hallway or when rides were offered to go grocery shopping, something Jimin could not deny.
"Give him a chance. Who knows, maybe he'll be the next me."
Jimin rolled his eyes. "Yeah right. Whatever, it probably won't even matter. Namjoon seems pretty sick of us so I wouldn't be surprised if this team doesn't last and we all get transferred elsewhere."
Chanyeol shook his head. "You're are always thinking the worst Jimin, you are why we can't have nice things."
The men's conversation ended not too long after that. The red head dropped his friend at work then left to go back home for a nap. Jimin envied him, how much he would have loved to have a weekday off yet there he was slouching his way to his desk. There wasn't many people present, only a few officers and one of his teammates, Hoseok. The man was crafting something from a blank piece of paper so Jimin did not bother to disrupt his focus.
"Morning Jimin."
He greeted back the man. They sparked a conversation that only last between them two until Taehyung showed. The man looked a wreck, he was late on top of that too. With a hurried shuffle the male dropped his things besides Hoseok then bent to tie his shoes then ran off, only to reappear before them seconds later.
"D-Do uh any of you know where the bathroom is?" He scratched his head as he smiled awkwardly. Jimin simply smiled, he shook his head. Hoseok on the other hand was a little less clueless and even offered to accompany the male to the restroom, leaving Jimin alone at their work area. He sat still in his chair trying to balance a pen on his finger tip. He was doing quite well until a sight more interesting caught his eye and the pen fell back on the surface.
It was Yoongi walking alongside the elegant woman from their entrance date. She put her long hair behind her ear as she listened intently to what he had to say. Whatever it was they spoke of, it seemed serious since that was all their face screamed. Jimin quit his staring when cat-like eyes of the incoming male met his. Quickly the male picked up his pen and wrote the date on a nearby paper. He tried to appear clueless by the presence that joined his side.
"That was yesterday's date nosy." Yoongi said, his finger on the paper where the number was.
Jimin's gaze went up to meet his. "Oh...thanks."
The male shook his head the slightest bit, like he disapproved. He sat at his desk just besides Jimin who could not take his eyes of him. He didn't understand why, but this man was intriguing to him.
"It's rude to stare you know."
Faster than he'd ever done before, Jimin's eyes darted to the next person they could. It just so happened that was their squad and team leader who headed their way. Namjoon was looking as dull as ever while Seokjin smiled through the words he said to him. When they reached the now four at their stations, they greeted them and then told them to get off their chairs.
"There's been a reported robbery at a grocery store and a suppose strong discussion at an apartment complex. Team up and go figure it out, choose which case you want and get out of my sight." Namjoon said. "I don't want to see any of you till things are resolved."
When he was done, Jimin looked quick to either Hoseok or Taehyung to pair up but the two had clearly already chosen each other so he was stuck with Yoongi. The other team took their assignment first, they wanted the grocery store. Both were mumbling about hopefully getting free food, it left the two others with the apartment complex ordeal. Each were assigned cars to take them there.
"Can I see the file?" Jimin asked as he strapped himself into the seat.
"I don't know, can you?"
At the familiar phrase, something twitched within Jimin. "This isn't middle school asking to go to the bathroom. Give me the damn papers!"
The said papers were snatched from the chuckling male behind the steering wheel. He seemed in a much better mood than before which left his partner dreading the incoming hour.
