Straight ahead to back of the head of others the majority of young people stared at. In the room it was quiet except for the muttering of the superiors. Those in uniforms stood stiffly in lines, six to seven in each. In front of them stood two officials, those who would be in charge of them.
"Crazy how we got put in the same team right?"
Jimin nodded his head to the whisper that came from behind him. He had only known Hoseok for less than an hour yet he could hear the happiness behind the statement. Among them in the line joined them the other males they encountered just outside the building. The tall model like tan man on Hoseok side and the mysterious one Jimin had yet to discover the full facial appearance of.
A man walked out all the sudden, shutting up everyone who spoke instantly. He was tall, blonde, in a black jacket. Nothing was said from his part, he simply took his place in the front of Jimin's line. Now six stood in his line. Four uniformed who he had became somewhat familiar with, some more than others, and a male with broad shoulder.
"Attention!"
All the noise in the room stopped just as a man walked out, a few other superiors at his side. His black hair was slicked back and he stood tall despite not being so. His attire consisted of a suit, the sides decorated with medals that were of no doubt anything but honor. It was similar to those who wore it in the room except it was quite clear he was a much higher position.
"I am Cheif Kwon Ji Yong." He spoke loudly in a stern voice. "Today is the first day for you rookies in the Detective Division."
Jimin had always been an excellent student, one of the best in his class, all his classes. The male believed as he was taught that education was they key to everything and that the key to that key was listening. However despite it being the first day of a mile stone in his life, he didn't listen. The excitement coursing through his veins distracted him, even though he could not show it, he felt it. That same joyful feeling on the first day at college or when he first got his car which was now abandoned back at his house with his brother.
"I expect only the best rookies. Good luck."
The man snapped into reality at the clicking heels of a woman's at the side of Cheif Kwon, the one in charge of the whole division. She was shorter than him but with the heels she rose to just about his height. Her long blonde hair swayed against her back as she elegantly walked by the superiors side, head raised high.
"Very well then, change out of the uniforms." The brunette who stood in front faced the four new rookies. "Those won't be necessary here and quite frankly I find them atrocious."
All four in line disbanded from their formalities yet kept their straight faces. They followed the hand that pointed them back into the room they were were first in. Into the four walls with a table, chairs, lockers, and a few other things they went into. Jimin stayed alongside Hoseok who ditched him before they even made it to their lockers which happened to be side by the side. The bubbly man was introducing himself properly to the two others who were part of their newly formed team.
"Save the introductions for later." The brunette said. "Change."
And so the talking stopped and the four in silence returned to the clothes they had brought. Jimin recalled this being his favorite professors tip, if he ever made it into the division would it be useful and it was. The elder told Jimin all about his first day as a detective, it was a story the young twenty year old adored to the very day he stood in his first day. The uniforms were just for formalities on the entrance day, no one had told the now lecturer that and so he spent the first day uncomfortable. As Jimin slipped his head through the head hole of his shirt he couldn't help but smile. All the time he imaged his professors young face of discomfort as he sat all stiff for the whole day.
At the corner of his eye he saw eyes which caused the man to look to whoever's they were. He was met with small cat like ones full of dares in them. The eyes were piercing right into him for the two seconds they stayed with him. Their darkness were almost as the one on the owner's head, a raven black color. Jimin shook off the feeling it left stilled in him and took a seat at the rectangular table. The brunette who'd been shouting commands at them was already at it, looking through papers.
"Exciting isn't it?" Hoseok whispered to Jimin. "The team leader-"
Hoseok was cut off by the opening click of the door. It was who he spoke of, their team leader. The man stood tall in his plain white shirt that was tucked into his black jeans. He was the one who stood in front of their line, the black jacket he wore was thrown down on the table.
"Alright, start Jin."
The brunette who had yet to properly introduce himself stood tall, a small smile on his face.
"Drop it."
Like the words the team leader spoke, the smile disappeared. The man inhaled loudly.
"I am your squad leader, Kim Seokjin and welcome you all into the division. We usually don't get rookies but due to the chief's want of a new perspective in the crime-"
"You mean the chief's mistake of wanting Jin." The sour man interrupted him, his eyes glaring about everyone of the newbies that faced him. They all seemed to tense by the fierce glare except for one that showed no emotion. Jin simply glanced at the male briefly before continuing.
"As squad leader you will address me as Seokjin. However out on the streets you cut out all formalities, the single millisecond can cost a life. Is that understood?"
A strong agreement was said in unison by the four, the message was through and well taught from before. Again Jimin thought back to all the advice from his professor, it was all as expected. The beginning ceremony until the squad lead introduction. Next would be the leader of the team that would distribute a few words of his encouragement to his group.
The tall man stood, he pushed down Jin with his hand.
"I am your team leader Kim Namjoon and I hope to not be so for long."
At this all the males at the table shared quick glances, this was not what they expected. Hoseok under the table bumped Jimin's foot. He widened his eyes just slightly when looked at by the male.
"Being a babysitter is not what I want but since that's what this division has become, a care taking central, I tell you now it won't be the same case with me." He pointed to each and everyone at the table except the other superior. "I want you all gone. The faster the better, it'll save us all the troubles of becoming familiar. I don't want a team with detectives with less than three year experiences, that's just suicide. That's what this is, a suicide team."
"Joon that's enough."
Jin stood up, he put his hand on the male's shoulder. He whispered a few words that furrowed the eyebrows on Namjoon's face and brought his rear back on the cushion of his chair.
"He's still getting use to the sudden change but don't let it get to your heads rookies. Joon just needs time to adjust to you all so let's get started on that." Jin pointed to Hoseok. "Introduce yourself. Name, age, home town and why you wanted to be in this division.
Jimin loved these types of things, he hated them too. Being the great student he also had been these kind of things were what got teachers to like him. This was bit different, less people which should make it easier yet it stressed him. He tried to put aside the gut wrenching feeling as he watched the called on male stand from his chair.
"I am Jung Hoseok. Twenty-four year old from Gwanju where I was in the Traffic Control Division however I came here when I was informed of the opened position to become a detective."
That concluded his introduction. Jimin braced himself, there was a one out of three chances he'd be picked next. He tried his hardest not flinch as Jin's finger swayed in the air for a few second.
"You." He said but not to Jimin. "Introduce yourself."
The man across from Jimin rose, he too was tall like the rest. "Kim Taehyung from Daegu. I am of twenty two years and in the division because my mother forced me but happy to be here."
"Good, you across from him. Go."
Jimin gulped but stood standing high which was no where near as high as the rest considering the height differences. He cleared his throat to speak what he had reharrsed in his head.
"Park Jimin. I am twenty three years old from Busan and in the division because my father was too."
He sat back down, feeling proud for speaking loud and clear. Jimin expected to choke from the pressure and anxiety building but he didn't, he was thankful to himself for that. It was silent in the room for about a minute. He turned to the superiors to see why, he was why. The two were just staring at him, blankly too. Confused he turned his head to Hoseok in aid but he too appeared lost by the sudden silence.
"Okay!" Jin clapped his hands. "Last one, you with the sleepy eyes."
Finally the last man who Jimin had heard not a word from spoke.
"Min Yoongi. Twenty-five from Daegu."
The man sat back down, he had not finished the introduction asked for but apparently he thought so. Jin asked him the final question but before he could finish the crackling voice from his walkie talkie interrupted him. Namjoon snatched the device from the table where it rested underneath his jacket.
"Yes, team three is on their way. Suit up kids."
Their first call, this what Jimin hadn't expected so quickly yet wished so dearly for. He stood up feeling prepared for the first operation.
