D is for Do We Have A Deal?
If they're smart then they should know not to follow me, I thought to myself.
As Blackjack flew us in closer to Viggo's hut, I could already see a bunch of guards surrounding the area.
One of them spotted us, and pointed his bow at me. "Wait!!" I yelled as we landed. "I'm here to meet with Viggo!!"
The soldier lowered his bow a little, but not enough to be entirely safe from getting hit. "What's your name?"
I sighed, "Lisha Arlington."
The other guards stared at me, surprised. "Viggo's been expecting you, along with the other three."
I nodded, dismounting Blackjack. Three guards guided me inside the tent, keeping a watchful eye on me.
Viggo sat at his desk, one of his Maces and Talons figurines in his hands. Standing nearby was Damian and Jill, no sign of Zane.
(Note: here is what they look like;
Jill Collins
Damian Thomson
Zane Lowe
Remember, they're names change later on).
"Ah, Lisha. The second to the last as always," Viggo said, smirking.
Damian and Jill looked up, then smiled when they saw me.
"Zane isn't here yet?" I whispered.
"You know him, he'll always be late," Jill whispered back.
"He might not even-"
Suddenly, Zane burst into the tent, panting.
"I'm.....here......," Zane huffed, beads of sweat falling off his forehead.
"Well, now that everyone's here," Viggo continued. "I suppose you all want to know about my offer."
He then took out a parchment paper and passed it to us. On it read:
"Assassins?" Zane said, confused.
Viggo smirked, "I heard about you're little accidents."
My eyes widened, shocked. How in Thor's name did he find out?
"Yes, it is a shame you couldn't stop yourselves. Why don't you tell me all about it?"
We all looked away, shifting uncomfortably. Finally, Damian muttered, "I was just defending my sister."
"Yes, yes, Jill?"
"They killed my mother, so I took revenge."
"I see, Zane?"
"They said I wasn't good enough, so I proved them wrong."
"Seen that a million times, Lisha?"
I stayed quiet for a moment, then replied, "it's called discrimination against orphans."
Viggo smiled, "see? That's not so different. If you can kill one person, then what's the difference on killing more?"
That left us all silent.
We looked back at each other, probably thinking the same thing.
Should we do it?
"And just to be clear, once you join there's no turning back."
Great, another reason to worry.
But why shouldn't we? We all know our old homes won't accept us. Now, a new one is offering us a place to belong.
Only this time, it comes with a price.
"I'll do it."
The words slip out of my mouth faster than I could think.
Viggo turned to me, a satisfied smile on his face. "So glad to have you, and the rest?"
"I will too," Damian said.
"So will I," Jill joined in.
"If they're all doing it, then I'll do it as well," Zane added.
Viggo shook our hands one by one, "I'm overjoyed to have all of you. Only one thing,"
Then he gave each of us a blank piece a paper. "-you can't go by that identity, people will easily recognize each of you. Don't forget to tell each other your new names."
He's joking right?
Well, it actually makes sense. New name, new person.
New way to seek revenge.
On the paper, I wrote:
Keres de Blood
After a few minutes, we all passed the papers to each other.
Andi Hellion (Jill)
Bruce Wayne (Damian)
Dan Amaro (Zane)
Then we submitted them to Viggo.
Viggo examined the papers and said, "welcome to the Dragon Hunters, Keres, Andi, Bruce, and Dan."
============================
And now, here I am. Keres de Blood, a Dragon Hunter assassin. Living with three other people who chose the same faith.
I dyed multiple colored streaks in my blonde bangs, plus I changed my outfit.
A pink shirt, black leather skirt, and spiky black boots. My headband, armbands, and shoulder armor are now black as well.
Now, some people would laugh and ask us, 'aren't you too young to be assassins?'
And we would always answer them by slicing their bodies in half.
If not that, then squeeze them to death. Or burn them. Or my way, chopping their heads off.
And today was one of those days.
"The kingdom of DunBroch," Viggo had said. "You're job is to destroy the village. Kill ANYONE that comes in your way. Make sure to leave a message to the king, that this is only the beginning."
Dan approaches on land, Andi by water, Bruce by air, and me underground.
First, Blackjack and I would tunnel all the way under the village. Then, we would burst out of the ground with some Quakens and Typhoomerangs. That would be enough time to startle the villagers and burn up most of the town. Then, I would give Dan the signal to approach with the wolves (yes I know, but everyone has their own way to kill remember?). If things don't go as planned, then he would signal Andi and Bruce to come with the reinforcement army.
I know what you're thinking, and yes, Andi and Bruce are totally fine with this. We take turns on who has to be with the reinforcement army.
"Alright Blackjack," I said, patting his side. "Time to burn this place to ashes."
And with that, he burst out of the ground, roaring. The Quakens and Typhoomerangs followed, destroying everything in their sight.
A few archers aimed at us, but before they could shoot I grabbed my horn and blew.
Suddenly, out of the forest, Dan and his pack of wolves rushed through the village like a bunch of Speed Stingers at night.
Other soldiers rushed at them, but some wolves pounced on top of them.
The archers' arrows flew in the air, but I quickly deflected them with my dagger (what? Never seen a series killer with a jagged knife?).
Once all the villagers were busy, I signaled the Typhoomerangs to burn the rest of the village.
In few minutes, the whole village was on fire, smoke filled the air. But most of all, beneath the ashed and on the ground read:
This is only the beginning. Prepare to face the wraith of the Dragon Hunters!!
