Sick Day?
~Y/N POV~
After getting up, showering, and eating a quick breakfast sandwich from a nearby cafe, I had to get to work, but I noticed something was off, Kiki wasn't here.
I had to see what was wrong because I had to excuse myself from the bakery, which my aunt completely understood.
I went outside and she wasn't walking down the stairs. I saw some ruffling on the windows and that told me something was wrong. I ran up the stairs and when I opened the door, Jiji meowed and I saw that Kiki was still in bed. I assumed she wasn't feeling good.
I went over to her and she looked so pale! Like, her skin was flushed and I had to see if she was okay.
Y/N: Not feeling well, aren't you?
Kiki: Yeah.
She turned over and I felt her head and her face and I thought she was so warm that she's got a fever!
Y/N: You got quite a fever.
Kiki: My head's hurting so much.
Y/N: Well, from the look of things, you never dried off after flying in that weather.
Kiki: Do you think I'm going to die, Y/N?
Y/N: Huh?
I chuckled a bit because of how adorable she is, even if she's sick.
Y/N: No, you won't. I'm gonna bring some medicine up, and then some potpie.
Kiki: Not that.
Y/N: I'll ask my aunt to make something for you. How about some hot oatmeal with honey in it? Want some too, kitty cat?
Jiji: MEEEOOW!
Jiji had the biggest smile on his face as I went out and walked back to my aunt who was concerned about Kiki. When I told her about Kiki being sick, she was a bit upset, but she made two bowls of oatmeal with some honey.
I did bring up the meds and some of the oatmeal that aunt Osono made.
I served two bowls and left one in the table for Kiki as I gave the other to Jiji.
Y/N: I guarantee, this oatmeal is gonna get you better. Here you go, cat. Don't burn yourself.
I sat the other one down and as Jiji took a lick of that oatmeal, he went...
Jiji: MEOW!
Y/N: Come and get it while it's still warm, Kiki.
Kiki: Do I have to eat it?
Y/N: If you wanna get better. Just for me, will ya?
Kiki: Is there an extra shirt for me?
Y/N: Got it right here.
I pulled out a plain black t-shirt out and gave it to her and she put it on as my back was turned.
I was prepared in case she was going to sit up, so why not have a shirt ready?
Kiki: Thanks.
Y/N: No worries.
I served her the oatmeal as I was going to make sure I tell her that Tombo came by to see Kiki.
Y/N: Tombo came by to see you. I told him you were sick he wanted to come up, but I knew how much you hated him, so I turned him down respectfully.
Kiki: Thank you.
Y/N: Hey, don't worry. You get some rest. I'll come by later and see how you're doing.
I turned to go to the door, but Kiki was calling me.
Kiki: Y/N.
Y/N: Yeah?
Kiki: Can you stay with me, just so I don't have to be alone?
Y/N: Yeah, of course.
I sat down near Kiki and I wanted to make sure she had someone to talk to. I didn't sit to close to her, but I did make sure I was close enough so I can give her the oatmeal.
Kiki: I'm sorry for getting away from you last night. I didn't want you to get sick.
Y/N: I appreciate that, Kiki.
Kiki: I don't know if you know this, but I have been thinking about you for some time.
Y/N: Why me?
Kiki: I don't know what I did to have you treat me with so much kindness.
Y/N: You didn't do anything. Ever since Tombo was disrespectful towards you on your first day, I thought you deserved better.
Kiki: What do you mean?
Y/N: I thought there was something in my heart that made me skip a beat when I first saw you.
Kiki: Are you angry with me or something?
Y/N: No, I'm not angry with you.
Kiki: Is it because of how your ex and best friend treated you?
Y/N: Not really. There are times where I do think about that, but I try to forget most of the time.
Kiki: Oh. What happened between you three?
Y/N: After a year, she started seeing someone until I found out it was my best friend. I broke up with her after I saw them kiss. It doesn't matter now. I'm moving on.
Kiki: Wow. I'm sorry to hear that.
Y/N: Thanks. You know, Jiji has a personality of his own.
Kiki: He does.
Y/N: He was rubbing himself between my legs and was purring yesterday. I don't know what's gotten into him.
Kiki: He's probably starting to like you. I've never seen that from him.
Y/N: Me neither. I thought he was this cat that doesn't care about people other than you.
Kiki: He's usually around me the most.
Y/N: Yeah.
We kept talking about stuff like family and every day life, especially if we're planning on going on that huge blimp as friends.
I'm not really into aircraft and all that stuff due to my fear of heights, but if Kiki wants to go on it, I'm all for it.
Then, she hit me with it.
Kiki: Y/N?
Y/N: Yeah?
Kiki: Are you seeing anyone right now?
I thought I felt some heat on my cheeks because this was so sudden. I didn't know how to react because I did think about her sometimes but not as often with my ex.
Y/N: Not at the moment, I'm still trying to get over my breakup though.
Kiki: Oh.
Y/N: It's not your fault. You didn't know.
Kiki: Well, the reason that I said that *cough* is because I've had this feeling of feeling loved by you.
Y/N: What? No, I'm just doing what I can to see you feel comfortable here in Koriko.
Kiki: But I feel like you're doing that for a reason. Is it because you like me?
(A/N: Might need to call CM Punk because I think Kiki just dropped a pipebomb!)
I didn't know what to think. Kiki might've suspected that I really liked her from the start, especially when I said that about when she arrived in town.
I had to tell her the truth, but I hoped that she would be okay with me telling her this.
Y/N: It's true. Kiki, I liked you from when I first saw you. I didn't know what made me like you but maybe because of how cute you are, from your dress, your red bow, everything about you. Kiki, I would want to be with you, but I'm not the kind of person you'd want to be with.
Kiki: Why's that?
Y/N: I'm just a loser with a job at my relatives' bakery. I don't see myself having someone in my life again after what happened. You get some rest, I need some time to myself.
I stood up and looked at her, who looked so concerned when she shouldn't be.
Kiki: No, Y/N, wait! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to upset you.
Y/N: You didn't, Kiki. It's just that I'm not ready for another relationship. Hope you understand. I'll check on you soon.
I left her alone and went down the steps, just trying not to cry.
I mean, that breakup I went through, I took it very hard since my ex only cared about herself. I was doing what I could for the both of us and because of that, she took advantage of it.
When I walked over to Osono, she must've noticed what was wrong.
Osono: Y/N, are you okay? You don't seem like yourself.
Y/N: I'm fine, aunty.
Osono: No, you're not fine. Please, just talk to me, and I'll listen.
We sat down as I told her everything, from the way Kiki brought up her confession to me and how I confessed to her, but it had to be brought back to how that girl took advantage of me.
I'm not blaming Kiki for getting me a bit upset because it wasn't her fault. She didn't know how sensitive that subject was.
Thing is, I get pretty sensitive about that and it's understandable, but of course, Osono had to bring it up.
Osono: Did it had to do with the fact that your parents left you, Y/N?
Y/N: They didn't leave me, Aunt Osono, they died!
Osono was startled at me yelling at her and she knew she made a mistake on that. I forgive her for that but I hope she doesn't do it again, you know?
Osono: Please, Y/N, calm down. I didn't mean to bring that up.
I actually teared up while trying to control myself because it's been 9 years since that accident.
Y/N(voice breaking): It's just so hard, you know. I've had to live with that for a decade. I miss them so much.
Osono: Oh I know. I know, Y/N. Believe me, you've grown up so much. If they were here, they'd be so proud of you for becoming the young man you are.
Y/N: I know, but Aunt Osono, I don't know if you want to hear this but, since Kiki and I first met, I did say that I liked her, but that's not true.
Osono: What is it?
Y/N: I don't like Kiki, I love her.
Osono must've been pretty shocked at hearing me say that because she wrapped her arms around me and I had to do it to her.
Y/N: I loved her since I helped her get comfortable with Koriko, after Tombo didn't apologize for not introducing himself properly. I don't think she knows this because I did tell her that I "liked her" but I held her back from the truth.
Osono: You need to tell her. She would understand.
Y/N: How do you know? You're not her mother.
Osono: I know I'm not, but I've talked with her while you were out on errands a couple times and she spoke highly of you. I asked her what she thought of you as a friend. She would tell me that she was starting to have feelings for you.
Y/N: She did?
Osono: Yeah. She even said that she wanted to thank you for not seeing her differently, I assume she didn't do that yet.
Y/N: No, not yet.
Osono: Well, when you're ready, just talk to her. She'll feel appreciative of that.
Y/N: I will.
