Break?
~Y/N POV~
Well, not just Kiki losing her powers, Jiji started talking to her as if she was a cat all this time.
Hearing Jiji losing his english speaking voice really made me feel bad because I really think that Kiki losing her powers was the worst thing that's ever happened to her. Do I blame her for being sad? Not really.
While I was working at the bakery I saw someone walk by and I thought I recognized her. She had a huge straw hat with some Jean short shorts, a red tank top, a giant orange backpack, and some hiking boots.
It had to be Ursula because when she walked in, I was excited to see her!
Ursula: Hey there, Y/N!
Y/N: Hey, Ursula! Give me a second, I'll be right with you.
Ursula: Okay!
I was just about to finish up the money counting for today and as I did, I walked up to her.
You see, Ursula is one of my closest friends. She and I always tried to keep in touch whenever we could and she was always the older sister I never had. She was often my babysitter when my parents went on dates and to see her doing well for herself made me happy.
There was this one thing that I'll never understand though, when she would come over to babysit me, Ursula was always a tomboy. I don't know what makes her dress like that, but I'm not a hater or anything, I love seeing my friends happy.
As she would spend time with me, we'd do drawing contests and while Ursula'd always end up winning, it was fun to be with her. She always had that heart of gold to help someone in need and I always admired her for that. For example, if nobody would take the jacket off their back, screw them, she would do it because that's who Ursula is.
When she ran off to be her own person, I supported her and said that she wanted to be an artist. I've seen her work over the years and her paintings and drawings are pretty amazing, probably better than the art I've done.
After counting the money, I went over and started the conversation.
Y/N: What are you doing in town?
We hugged as we had to catch up.
Ursula: Well, I had to do some shopping and I decided while I was here, I thought I might come by and visit Kiki.
Y/N: Kiki?
Ursula: She didn't tell you what happened?
Y/N: Um, no, what happened?
Ursula: You know that stuffed cat she was supposed to deliver?
Y/N: I think so.
Ursula started telling me about they first met over the stuffed cat and how it turned into a friendship more than anything. I wasn't there when all of this happened, but to hear Ursula's side of the story was hilarious. I enjoyed it.
Ursula: Yeah, it's hilarious to know that a delivery could make a friendship.
Y/N: Yeah.
Ursula: How is Kiki, by the way?
Y/N: Well, not so good.
Ursula: Huh? Why's that?
Y/N: Let's say some of my ex-friends didn't take too kindly to her.
Ursula: Oh, really?
Y/N: Yeah. It wasn't just that...
I gestured her to come close and I had to whisper...
Y/N: She lost her powers a couple days ago.
Ursula: Wait, what?
Y/N: You heard me. It wasn't just her powers, her cat started meowing instead of talking to her like how you and I are at the moment since she's witch.
Ursula: That's sad. I didn't know that can happen with witches.
Y/N: I did too, but listen, the only reason I'm telling you this is because I want you to be aware if you ever see her. She hasn't been the same since her powers are gone. If you don't mind not bringing it up if she does, I'd appreciate it.
Ursula: Anything for you, little man.
Y/N: Hey! I'm not little anymore!
We both laughed as this was great to see Ursula again. I really love her like a sister and to know that she still has that little sassy attitude really told me she hasn't changed a bit.
Ursula: Based on what you told me, I'm gonna ask her if Kiki would want to come with me to my cabin. Wanna come too?
Y/N: Let me ask my aunt if that's okay with her. If you guys want, I'd like to cook some breakfast for all of us the next morning.
Ursula: Really?
Y/N: Yeah. You got a fire pit over at your cabin?
Ursula: Sure do, and it's big so we'll have some room for whatever utensils you bring. You wanna grab some ingredients before we go?
Y/N: Absolutely, but still, let me talk with with my aunt and I'll let you know.
Ursula: Sounds good. Where can I find Kiki, though?
Y/N: She's living in our empty space behind us. It's not too far behind.
Ursula: Thanks, little man.
Y/N: Hey!
We both laughed again as we hugged. Seeing my former babysitter and my older sister figure again was just worth it.
As she left to find Kiki, Osono came in, I had to ask...
Y/N: Aunt Osono?
Osono: Yeah?
Y/N: I just got an invitation to go to Ursula's cabin for a day. Is it okay if I go? I promise to work harder when I come back.
Osono: Oh, but Y/N. The baby's due any moment. I need you here.
Y/N: I know, but I really want to go. Plus, it's been a long while since you've seen her.
Osono: Alright, if you do plan on working harder at the bakery, I'll let you go with her.
Y/N: Thank you, Aunt Osono.
Osono: Also, here's the card if you wanna cook something while over there.
Y/N: Thank you!
Osono: Of course. Say hi for me, will you?
Y/N: I will!
I went out and looked to buy some ingredients for breakfast tomorrow and I couldn't wait.
I know what I plan on cooking for breakfast, but it's best if I didn't say anything because it's a surprise and whatnot.
The first thing, or things, I bought were three ribeye steaks, okay? And the second were a couple onions, some garlic cloves, scallions, and a carton of eggs (range-free).
The next things I bought were extra virgin olive oil, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, paprika, smoked paprika, chili powder, and some ground coffee. I have a rub in mind where it's just chili powder, paprika, smoked paprika, and the ground coffee. The kosher salt is to season the meat first before the rub.
Then, I was going to use the scallions, onion, and garlic to be the little garnish or sides to it to bring out some flavor.
When I bought all the ingredients, I got back to the bakery, got the cooler, filled it with ice, and put my ingredients in there while putting some more ice on the top to keep it from being spoiled and whatnot.
I packed an extra pair of clothes and looked forward to spending time with Ursula and Kiki at my old babysitter's cabin. Plus, with Ursula having a pit, I'm gonna make sure I take my stainless steel pan and my skillet with me. I'm gonna have Ursula cook the ribeyes while I cooked the eggs, and I think that's a very good system by the time we get there.
Once Kiki and Ursula got back down and got the "okay" from Osono, we were off. We had to catch the bus before it left and we managed to grab it just in time.
Along the way, Ursula offered a ball of gum to Kiki and she accepted, but I declined, mostly because I gave up on sweets. She understood as we waited until we got to a certain stop.
We then had to walk up a hill for some time until we got to another road, where we had to hitchhike a ride, but this car didn't bother to stop.
Y/N: What's the matter with that guy? Is he selfish?
Ursula: Either that or he must've been blinded by a trio of beautiful people in front of him.
We just laughed as we kept trying until a truck stopped for us. Kiki and Ursula were with the driver while I was in the back.
Along the way, Ursula was a bit peeved by what the truck driver said about her.
Ursula: Huh? You really thought I was a boy?
Driver: Well, it's the way you're dressed and all.
Ursula: Tell me. What kind of a boy has these legs, mister?
She was also showing off one of her legs while she said that! That really killed me on this trip.
Seriously, Ursula is that kinda person who's so sassy she might as well win the award for sassiest girl of the year for being that sassy as well as how sassy she can be!
Hashtag sassy.
When we arrived at the woods, we walked over to Ursula's cabin, where the crows were on the roof.
Kiki: You get along with the crows.
Ursula: Yup. We've become close friends.
Y/N: Wow.
Ursula: Hello, everybody. I'm home again.
As Kiki introduced herself to the crows and apologized for what she did to them the other day, which I found adorable because of how she held her hands and smiled at them, Ursula offered to get some water while Kiki and I walked in.
I didn't want her to do all the work so, I offered to do it, but Ursula was insistent. She didn't want me to do it for her. From what I know, she wants to relive the times she'd babysit me, it didn't matter though, at least it's like old times.
As the two of us walked in, this was on display...
What was Ursula working on? This looked so beautiful!
Well, when she walked in with the bucket of water, we'd find out.
