Hold On
As Meiko's team arrived at the training ground, she shoved the note into her Kunai pouch and stood up, smiling at her best friends. They all embraced and then turned towards their sensei who was smiling at them.
"Are you guys ready?" She asked, and the three of them nodded before she held up two bells in her fingers, dangling them in the air slightly. "Today's exam is simple, you just have to get one of these two bells from me."
"That's it?" Izumo asked with a confused tone to his voice, but their sensei just nodded.
"That's it. You have until noon. If all three of you do not get a bell, you go back to the academy. If two of you get these bells, the other one will go back to the academy while the other two continue being Genin. Any questions?" She said, a simple nod of her head. The kids all glanced at each other and nodded their heads slightly before glancing back at Kumiko who was smiling brightly at them.
"If there are no questions, Begin!" She said, and Izumo, Kotetsu, and Meiko all jumped away from her and into the trees.
(( I can't find a good way to write the fight, so I'm going to skip over the actual training exercise because I've been writing it for two days, and I hate how it turns out every time. Izumo and Kotetsu get the bells, Meiko created a distraction for them and they got the bells.)
Kumiko smiled at her three student, watching as Meiko hugged her friend who she thought would be the only two of the three to pass. But their sensei walked up to them, and placed her hand on Meiko's head and ruffled her hair slightly.
"Congrats! All three of you are certified Genin!" Kumiko said, and Meiko tilted her head slightly.
"But, I thought that the person who didn't get the bell would be sent back to the academy?" She asked, and Kumiko shook her head slightly.
"I just told you that so that I could see if you guys would turn against each other in a time for need. You didn't. You are my first team to ever actually use teamwork to get the bells, even if it meant that one of you would not get the bell and be sent back to the academy. You made it clear to me that you three will become amazing ninja, and an amazing three man squad. A lot of ninja do not understand why we put them in three man squads, but I can tell you three do. So I am happy to say that you three are now certified Genin of Konoha!" The brown haired lady said with a closed eye smile, tilting her head slightly to the side.
As she was smiling, Meiko, Izumo, and Kotetsu glanced at each other and then smiled, before they ran forward and hugged their sensei. "Oh thank you sensei!" Meiko said quietly, the three of them hugging their sensei for a few more moments before they pulled back and smiled up at her.
"You are welcome." She said, ruffling Meiko's hair slightly. "Team 10's first mission starts tomorrow, be here at noon!" She smiled, and Meiko glanced t her best friends.
"Do you guys want to go eat?" Meiko said and Kotetsu nodded, both of them slowly making eye contact before their eyes widened and they screamed "Nose Pays!" in sync, placing their fingers on their nose.
Izumo looked at them and grumbled slightly, kicking a pebble in front of her slightly before sighing. "Fine, I'll pay." He sighed, and Meiko giggled quietly. She grabbed Kotetsu's hand, lacing their fingers together and pulling him towards Ichruka's ramen.
They arrived at the ramen place and took a seat at the barstool, smiling at the younger man standing behind the bar stood. "Same as normal, Meiko and Kotetsu?" He said, and they both nodded with a beaming smile on their lips.
"Yes sir! Plus one for Izumo!" They said in sync as Izumo finally trailed into Ichruka's, his head thrown back and his feet dragging slightly on the ground as he grumbled quietly.
"You guys are cheaters." He said, nodding his head slightly as he took a seat beside of Kotetsu, looking over at his friends who were smiling brightly at him.
"We played fair, you can't doubt that." Meiko said, and Kotetsu nodded his head in agreement as Izumo rolled his eyes slightly.
"You guys didn't even give me time to know what you were doing!" He whined slightly, and Meiko shrugged her shoulders.
"Ya snooze, ya lose." Meiko said with a matter-of-fact tone of voice, causing Izumo to roll his eyes and grumbled slightly as their ramen was placed in front of them. Meiko smiled down at the food and broke apart her chopsticks before she began to dig into her meal, ignoring as her laughing friends at the way that the girl ate her food.
'Fat ass.' The menacing voice in her head said with a scoff, and Meiko stopped eating for a moment, staring down at her food. She had eaten over half of the bowl, so maybe she could say she was full? No, Izumo and Kotetsu have seen her scarf down five bowls than this in a heart beat, saying she was full now would be a dead give away wouldn't it? A long sigh escaped the girls lips as she pushed the bowl away from her, placing her hands on her stomach.
"I am not sure how, but I am full." She said, her eyes locked on the bowl in front of her so that her friends couldn't see that she was lying. They knew how to read her like an open book, and if they saw her eyes, they would surely know she was lying.
"That's impossible, you're the ramen eating champ!" Izumo said, tossing his arms up in the air slightly, and Kotetsu nodded in agreement.
"Are you sure you're full, Meiko? You always eat more than one bowl." Kotetsu said, glancing at her with a small, worried look on his face.
"I'm sure guys. Anyways, are we gonna meet up later?" She asked, trying to change the subject of her eating. Both Izumo and Kotetsu knew this, but that just sighed and let it go.
"Do you want to?" Izumo asked Kotetsu, who nodded his head slightly.
"Sure. Normal place, normal time?" He asked, watching as Meiko and Izumo nodded their heads in sync. Meiko got down off the barstool, waved bye to her friends before she placed her hands behind her back and began to stroll down the streets of Konoha, back to her house.
As she walked, she pulled the note she had gotten earlier out of her pocket and looked at the location at was sloppily written along the bottom of the paper. Her eyes squinted slightly as she attempted to make out the address on the paper. She tilted her head to the side slightly as she realized that this address was fairly close to her home, so it shouldn't be very hard to drop off her note back to the mysterious person on her way to meet up with Izumo and Kotetsu.
When Meiko arrived at her house, she went straight to her room, not talking to Asuma or her father. She sat down on her bed, placing the newest note in her dresser drawer before grabbing a piece of paper and a pencil. She sat back in her bed, placing the piece of paper against her thighs as she began to write her note back to the person.
'Hello!
I am actually unaware of how to write this letter to you, since I do not know who you are, (You should totally tell me that, by the way.) But I do want to say thank for worrying about me? I guess that's what I want to say. Anyways, hope you write back soon, kind of REALLY want to figure out who you are, because it seems rather strange to me that you are constantly writing me letters and I don't even know who you are how you know me!
Anyways, talk later, gotta do stuff.
Sincerely,
Meiko, AKA number two."
Once she was satisfied with the note she had wrote, she folded it at neatly as she could and placed it on her bed. She took a deep breath and walked over to her mirror as she slowly took off her clothes she had on for the day, leaving herself in just her undergarments.
'Am I fat..?' She thought to herself as she turned to the side and glanced down at her stomach, noticing that it was fairly flat, except for the very slight, not even noticeable pudge on the bottom of her stomach. Unless a pair of eyes were intently staring at it, it was not visible, but to Meiko, she noticed it.
'I told you that you're fat!' Her inner voice said with a cackling laugh and Meiko nodded slightly. She walked over to her bed and grabbed her night bag from under it, pulling it out slowly. She got dressed in her night clothes and pulled her mask up on her face. The backpack was placed securely on her shoulders as she walked over to the window, double checking that the note was in her hand before she leaped out the window.
Meiko moved quickly down the streets of Konoha that were fairly empty, before she arrived at the address she was suppose to drop the letter off at. She glanced around for somewhere to place it where only this person who was suppose to read it would find it, and finally decided to hide it under a rock. She nodded her head at the hiding place before she leapt up to the roof tops of Konoha, traveling to the destination of the meeting spot.
After Meiko was out of sight, a boy made his way out of the shadows and to where he had saw the girl drop off her note. He smiled slightly as he bent down and removed the rock, playing with the perfectly folded piece of paper with his thumbs. Slowly, he slid it open and his eyes wondered along the neat handwriting that was on the paper, chuckling at the note that Meiko had left him before he leaped on the rooftops of Konoha, back to his home.
The boy sighed heavily as he plopped down on his bed, placing his feet on the mattress as he pulled out a piece of paper and placed it against his legs, beginning to write the note for Meiko in return to what she had written him. Once he was satisfied with his note, he got up and went back to his window, leaping out of it.
On the roof tops, the boy glanced around for any signs of the three best friends who should be leaping house to house by now, and an invisible smirk covered his lips when he got the shadows of them. He began to leap towards them, before he leaped over top of the next roof that the three would be going over, and dropped the note on the flat roof.
Meiko was too busy laughing at this moment to notice the figure dropping his note on the roof in front of her, until she was on that roof and she saw the paper. She chuckled slightly as she fell to the back of the group, Izumo and Kotetsu not noticing that she fell to the back. In a swift motion, she picked up the notes and shoved into the pocket of the shorts she had on, and continued on her way.
By the time the night was coming to an end, Meiko was exhausted. From the training exercise, to everything they did tonight, it was a shocker that she was even standing up right.
Meiko slid into her room, plopping herself down on her bed after she changed into her nighttime clothes, twirling the new note in between her fingers. She smiled as her thumbs played with the edges, and she opened it, her brown eyes trailing over the sloppy letters.
'But my dear Meiko, what would be the fun of me telling you who I am? I like this game I have created my way, and when you are able to figure out who I am on your own, I will tell you! But for now, this is my game. But you're welcome for caring, it wasn't that great seeing you all shaken up, but I hope you're okay now, what even was that? Tell me if you want, I am someone you can trust! Anyways, I have to go now, I'll miss you if I don't go now.
Sincerely,
A Kid In The Dark.'
Meiko laughed at the last part, before she placed her note in the her drawer with the other ones, getting cozy in her bed before she fell asleep.
