Bridge Part 2
The ninja carried the unconscious Meiko over his shoulder, smirking slightly. The girls team had yet to notice that the girl was missing, but hopefully the rest of this ninja's team was able to capture the other girl in the team just as easily.
They arrived at the cave in which they were suppose to meet again, and he threw Meiko on the ground. Her body landed on the ground with a loud thump, her head bouncing off of the stone ground. The man who had captured her laughed silently before he tied her up, binding her hands and legs together, and placing a rope in the girls mouth to act as a gag. He sat patiently in front of her to act as a guard.
It was a few moments later before Meiko came to, her head pounding her skull, a throbbing sensation traveling through it. She went to move her hand up to her head to rub at where the pressure was, but found that she could not move her hands. She began to freak out, jerking her arms in an upward motion to attempt to free them. Meiko's eyes scanned around the room quickly, her eyes seeing nothing but unfamiliar stone walls, and an even more unfamiliar man standing over her. He had a large grin on his face, and his eyes seemed to glow from the darkness of the cave.
"Well, hello." He said evilly, watching as silent tears fell down the unstable girls eyes. She shook slightly in her place, still attempting to free herself. "You're not going to be able to free yourself, those are chakra ropes. Nearly impossible to break." He said with a matter-of-fact tone of voice, but nothing was going to stop her from trying to escape from the ropes.
The man who had captured her was beginning to get annoyed with her actions. He swung his foot around and caught the girl in the stomach, sending her skidding back along the stone a little bit. Meiko whimpered quietly as more tears ran down her face and she stopped struggling in the rope, not wanting to die here. The man chuckled slightly as he bent down and stood in front of her, his smile still the normal sickening smiling she had awoken to. He did a few handsigns, and stared into the girls eyes for a moment before she fell into a deep genjutsu.
//
The small girl sat up in a stone room, and she gulped quietly as she looked around for the man who had kidnapped her. She didn't see him, and she let out a large sigh of relief as she struggled to get the ropes off of her hands, which surprisingly just slid off. She raised her eyebrows slightly but didn't question it. She undid the rope around her feet, and then pulled the one out of her mouth, letting out a large sigh.
She stood up and glanced around the stone walls, before she began to walk out the long tunnel that had a bright light at the end of it. She made her way out into the light, and it was a few moments before how bright the light was actually died down. The girl had her arm over her eyes to block out the bright light from her eyes, and once it died down, she finally dropped her arm to her side.
She wished she didn't.
The dark brown eyes of Meiko widened, and her mouth fell slightly agape. Tears fell down her face and a small noise escaped her lips as she fell to her knees. Laying all around Meiko were the dead bodies of everyone she loved. Izumo, Kotetsu, Asuma, Gai, Rin, Obito, Minato, her father, her sensei, Kurenai, and... Kakashi.
Kakashi's body laid the closest to her, his arm brushing against her knees as she sobbed heavily, glancing around at everyone around them. The majority of them had large sword cuts, a few burns, a few bruises around their necks to show that they had been strangled. Meiko glanced down at Kakashi to see a large cut that went through the skin beside of where his heart would be, his dark eyes that would normally be staring daggers into hers were closed so peacefully that it seemed as if he was asleep beside of her.
She placed her hands on his chest and her body fell over his as she began to sob slightly louder than she had been before, her fingers laying in the grass beside of Kakashi's body. She gripped the grass in between her pale fingers, and the tears that fell down her face fell onto Kakashi's blue shirt, causing navy blue spots to cover his shirt. Blue and red, that was all that covered Kakashi's upper torso.
"M-Meiko..." Kakashi's voice weakly called out, and Meiko's head shot up and she looked at the one person she thought she hated. His onyx orbs stared into hers and she quickly moved herself closer to his face.
"O-Oh my god, Kakashi..." She whispered to the white haired Jonin, and she placed her hands on his face slightly, slowly pulling his head up into her lap. "W-What happened?!" She asked, and Kakashi coughed slightly, but the blood that came out of his mouth was restricted by the mask over his face. Meiko whimpered quietly as she reached her hand along his face and slowly pulled the mask down, without a disruption from Kakashi. He was too tired and slipping away to both with trying to hide his face anymore.
"W-We we're ambushed." Kakashi said, the sadness lacing his voice. "They started killing everyone-e." He said, cutting off to cough up more blood. Meiko stared at him with sad eyes. "Minato and I tried so hard to get them all, but we couldn't... If you were there, maybe we could have saved everyone." Kakashi said, the weakness in voice making Meiko even more sad. "Why weren't you there for me? Why-y weren't you there for everyone..." Kakashi trailed off, his body beginning to go limp in her arms.
Meiko stared down at Kakashi, her tears landing on his face as she started sobbing harder. "I-I'm sorry! P-Please don't leave me!" She shouted to her teammate, but it was too late. He fell limp in her arms, his eyes slowly falling shut for the last time, the last image his face saw was a crying Meiko, pleading for him not to leave her.
But he did.
//
"Release." A voice called out, and the girl opened her eyes quickly, to be met with the face of the one and only Kakashi. She held back her tears as she fought to get the ropes off of her. The ropes were quickly sliced from her body, and the first thing she did was wrap her arms around Kakashi tightly. He stumbled back slightly, a little confused, but he hugged her back tightly none the less.
"I'm so happy to see you guys!" She said quietly, standing up and glancing over at Rin and Obito giving them a smile as well, but when she looked back at Kakashi, that is when she noticed Kakashi's left eye was bandaged, completely covered.
"Oh my god, Kakashi... What happened?" She asked, and he shook his head slightly.
"I'll tell you later, but come on, we have to go." Kakashi said, and Meiko nodded slightly as they stood up and turned to walk, but the stone nin on the ground, the same on that had taken Meiko, began to push himself up.
"I see, you two are good, but you're still kids. Right now, you're in enemy hands." He said, before he began to do a few handsigns, before raising his fist in the air. "Earth Style: Rock Breaker!" He said as he placed his fist on the ground. The rock around them began to shake slightly, falling around them.
"This is bad! Run for the exit!" Kakashi screamed, and all of them took off running toward the exit, Kakashi towards the front, Rin and Obito close behind, and Meiko bringing up the rear to make sure that her comrades made it out of this alive. She was ready to defend them with her life if it was necessary. As the rocks fell, Obito and Meiko were narrowly dodging the rocks, a lot hitting them in random places, but nothing that would hurt them too bad.
A giant bolder began to fall from the ceiling, right above of Kakashi and Rin's heads. Obito saw the rock falling down, and in a single second, he pushed Kakashi and Rin out of the way, and Meiko attempted to push Obito out of the way. The bolder landed down with a large thud, a large cloud of dust surrounding them.
The dust cleared from around them, Kakashi and Rin slowly sliding down a rock to the ground safely. "Are you all safe, Rin...? Kakashi..? Meiko...?" Obito croaked out from under the bolder, and that is when Kakashi glanced over at his teammate and his right eye widened in horror. Obito entire right side was crushed underneath the bolder, and he couldn't see Meiko.
"O-Obito!" Kakashi said, and he ran over to where the bolder was, beginning to push on the bolder to attempt to get it off of Obito. A little bit down from Obito, Meiko laid stilled by the bolder, unable to move. Her right leg had been completely crushed from the knee down, and she was unable to move from the rock.
"Don't... It's okay Kakashi." Obito said, the sadness lacing in his voice as he looked at his best friend with the eye that was not smashed. "M-Meiko...?" Obito called out, unable to see her. He was scared that she was stuck completely under the rock, even though he was much worse off than she was.
"I-I'm over here." She called out, pain lacing her voice as she attempted to pull her shattered leg from the rock, but with no results.
"Are you okay?" Kakashi asked, and even though he couldn't see it, Meiko shook her head side to side.
"No-o. My leg got caught under the rock, it's shattered from thebelow the knee and down." Meiko mumbled. "J-Just worry about Obito, I'll be fine." She said, even though her voice had an unsure tone to it, she was aware of just how bad off Obito was.
"Dammit!" Kakashi screamed out, banging his fist against the rocks. Tears formed in Rin's eyes as she watched the scene unfold in front of her.
"N-no... This can't be happening... Why..?" Rin said as she began to cry, the tears slowly rolling down her face. Obito coughed, and blooded sprayed out of his mouth. "Obito!" Rin said, the tears continuing to fall down her face. Kakashi fell to the ground, tears falling down his face as well.
"Dammit!" He screamed, as he banged his fist against the ground. "If... If only I had listened to you, and we had come rescue Rin and Meiko in the first place, this would have never happened!" He screamed, his cries causing his voice to crack every once in a while. "So what if I'm made captain? So what if I'm a Jonin?"
"I was the only one who didn't get you anything for making Jonin... I was, wondering what to give you, and I just had the thought... Don't worry, it's not some useless, extra baggage.. I'm giving you my sharigan. You are a great jonin... and that is how I really feel. So please, accept it. Rin, use your medical ninjutsu, take the entire eye and transplant my sharigan, into's Kakashi's left eye." Obito said quietly.
"Kakashi, come over here. I'll get started right away." Rin said.
"I'm about to die... But I'll become your eye and see the future... For you." Obito said, and Rin began to the process of transferring his eye into Kakashi's. Once the procedure was over, Rin got up from beside of her almost dead friend and Kakashi and walked over to where Meiko was. She bent down beside of her and began to slowly stroke her hair out of her face, the tears still streaming down the girls face.
"M-Meiko..." Rin mumbled, and Meiko's eyes slowly opened as she stared up at Rin. "Are you okay...?" She mumbled, her eyes glancing at the rock the had Meiko's right leg captured. Meiko nodded, and did her best to give Rin a smile.
"Yeah, I'm okay. But, I don't see myself getting out of here." She said quietly, and Rin began to shake her head furiously.
"No, we are going to get you out! I'm-m not losing two friends here today..." She whispered as her tears fell down onto Meiko's face, and Meiko reached her hand up and wiped away the tears of Rin. Rin began to cry harder, and all Meiko could do was sit there. A thought suddenly shot through Meiko's head, and she sighed heavily.
"Rin, cut off my leg." She said quietly, and Rin's eyes widened as she stared at Meiko.
"Are you serious?" She asked, and Meiko simply nodded. "That's crazy Meiko, you could have to give up being a ninja forever..."
"I know, but I don't want to die. Not yet, at least, not here." Meiko mumbled quietly, and Rin stared at her friend for a moment before she nodded her head.
"I'll do it. But it's going to hurt a lot..." Rin mumbled, and Meiko simply shrugged her shoulder.
"My whole leg is numb..." She whispered and Rin nodded, before she pulled out her a medical kit and began the procedure to remove leg from right below the knee cap. Meiko laid still the entire time, all feeling in her leg completely gone. By now, Kakashi was fighting the rock nin, using the sharigan for the very first time.
Rin had finally removed Meiko's leg from her body, freeing her from the bolder. The only trouble now was the amount of blood that Meiko was losing, so Rin began to focus her chakra to her hands, a green orb forming around them as she slowly began to heal the open wound until it was no longer bleeding as bad. Rin slowly pulled Meiko closer to Obito, placing the girls head in her lap as she held Obito's hand, waiting for Kakashi.
Kakashi appeared at the top of the cave, where he had blown a hole through previously and stared down at Obito, Rin, and Meiko. He sighed heavily when he saw Meiko, glad they had gotten her out, but that brief moment of happiness lasted only a moment as he saw the stump that was now her right leg.
Obito began to speak, his eye that was visible closed for the fact that there was no eye under the lid. "Kakashi.. Take Rin and Meiko.. Take them and go. Enemy reinforcements will be coming soon."
"Obito..." Rin said, and Obito let go of the girls hand, it limply falling to the ground.
"It's okay, just go." Obito said, and Kakashi began to stretch his arm into the hole.
"Rin, hand me Meiko, and then I'll get you." Kakashi said, and for a moment, Rin didn't move. But after that moment was over, she lift Meiko up to Kakashi as best as she could, struggling slightly since the girl was roughly the same size as her. Kakashi was able to grab Meiko, and place her on his back, the girl weakly wrapping her arms around Kakashi's neck to keep herself against him. Kakashi then pulled Rin up after her, as the rock nin appeared around them.
"Earth style, earth quake slam!" The all shouted, and the rocks around them began to fall even more. They were surrounding Obito on the ground, and Rin glanced back just long enough to see her friend's face disappearing under the rocks.
"Obito!" She cried, and Meiko's grasp on Kakashi tightened slightly as she watched Obito disappear as well.
"Obito!" Kakashi screamed out as the last rock covered his face, but it was too late. At that moment, RIn and Kakashi had no choice but to leave, jumping away from the scene, leaving their friend and teammate behind. Meiko had silent tears streaming down her face as only two thought went through her head.
"I'll never be a ninja again."
And,
"I'm sorry, Obito."
