The first thing Maddy did when she woke up the next morning, was take a long shower. She nearly scrubbed her skin off trying to get all the dirt out. After spending an hour in the shower, she had her breakfast. It was lucky that shifters too ate a lot because she was so hungry that she ate enough food to rival a shifter. Considering the fact that she had missed the previous day's dinner and was currently undergoing a change into turn into a werewolf, she was bound to feel hungry.

Maddy then decided to have a talk with Jeremy to make sure that he was good enough for Leia. Jeremy had crystal clear eyes and honey blonde hair. Jeremy looked somewhat like Barbie but manlier and way more muscular. While Xander was more on the leaner side, Jeremy was more buff.

"So, you are Leia's mate," Maddy said glaring at Jeremy. What? She needed to make sure that he was a good guy. Only then would he get her approval to date Leia.

Instead of being intimidated by Maddy and her glare, Jeremy looked like he was trying to control his smile. That just pissed Maddy off.

"You have no idea what I am capable of!" Maddy said threateningly.

"Don't take it personally, but I feel like I am being threatened by a cupcake," Jeremy said grinning.

"Don't forget that I've been training with werewolves my entire life and I didn't even know it! You might say this to me now, but I dare you to tell it to me after I kick you in the nuts," Maddy warned.

It was true. All her life, Maddy had apparently been talking and living among werewolves, but she had been too blind to see it. Half the people in her school were werewolves from Leia's pack, but what shocked her the most was that she had been unknowingly training with werewolves all the time. Her karate class wasn't a class, but pack training. Leia's dad or the Alpha, thought that it would be a good idea for Maddy to train with pack as she was the Alpha's daughter's best friend and might be in danger. All the training had helped her in escaping, but Maddy would have appreciated knowing that she was training with werewolves and not humans. No wonder she always felt so small and weak during karate classes!

Jeremy's eyes widened on hearing the comment about kicking his nuts. Werewolf or human, the nuts was one weakness for all boys.

"Fine. We need to go after a few minutes anyway. What do you want to know?" he said crossing his arms across his chest.

"How many girls have you been with before Leia?" Maddy asked, narrowing her eyes.

"None."

Maddy knew he was lying. One thing all the stories on Wattpad were right about was that all werewolves were hot. Every single one of them although Xander was definitely the hottest among them. Maddy was sure that girls would have hit on him. Maddy didn't believe that he turned all girls down. He must have at least one girlfriend while Leia was in New York.

"You're lying. I am pretty sure you liked at least one girl other than Leia."

"Nope. I'm not sure if you'll understand it though. Why would I settle for another girl, when I can have the best? A girl who is made for me? My other half?"

"A girl who is made for you? That sounds so sexist!"

"Well, I am made for Leia and Leia is made for me. That's what mate means. Every single wolf has their mate, who is also a werewolf. Werewolves rarely date someone other than their mate, unless they really really really like that person."

When Jeremy told it like that, it started making sense. Leia too had turned down all the boys who had asked her out. Maddy felt her heart sink. So that's what Leia meant by not wanting Maddy to get hurt. There was no way she could even dream about dating Xander now. Whatever small hope she had was also gone. He had another werewolf waiting him. And Maddy knew that Xander's mate would be some girl who looked perfect, just like him. Maddy tried to keep her face neutral and not show any of her emotions.

Another werewolf came in, interrupting their conversation. She informed them that they both were requested to meet the Alpha and Luna immediately.

Jeremy led her through a maze of corridors until they reached a huge room. Maddy had learnt that all werewolves gave a large percentage of their money which they earned from their jobs, to the Alpha who spent the money equally among all the werewolves. No wonder Leia's dad was rich.

Inside the room, Xander, Alexa and Leia were already sitting along with Xander's dad and mom, who insisted that Maddy call her Diana and another man. Maddy assumed that man was the Beta. Not sure what to do in front of the Alpha now that she was meeting him officially, Maddy awkwardly bowed.

On glancing up, she saw that everyone present there were suppressing their grins, including the Alpha. Feeling her cheeks heat up, she quickly sat down beside Leia. Of course, Maddy had to make a fool of herself in front of the Alpha! She sure as hell made a very unique impression.

"So Maddy," the Alpha said. "We are assuming that they took you for leverage against the Callisto Pack, the same reason they took Alexa. You were with them for a longer time as compared to Alexa. Did you hear anything useful? Any reason why the rogues, who usually like to live alone, are coming together and trying to kidnap people close to the Alpha?"

Maddy thought about it for a moment. This was a critical moment. If this were a story book, this would be the time when the main character reports something important which will change the flow of the plot. It always frustrated her when the main character forgot some important information, which resulted in the death of a character. Determined to bring out her inner Sherlock Holmes, Maddy started reciting the incident.

After fifteen minutes of talking, she quickly summed up the entire event. All of their faces were grim. Suddenly, Maddy remembered the conversation she had with the red-haired guy.

"Oh! I almost forgot. One of the kidnappers mentioned something about his boss. At first, I thought it was the bald guy but when I asked him, he told me that it was another guy."

This news clearly disturbed the Alpha. Next, Alexa started talking.

"I was uh... going to the washroom-," Alexa started but was immediately interrupted by Xander's snickering.

"Translation: skipping classes."

Alexa scowled. "Whatever. So maybe I was bunking classes. It's not like school is making me Einstein anyway. I stopped by this coffee shop. There were no customers there except, two guys who were drinking coffee. At first, I didn't notice anything unusual, but then I caught the smell of rogues. I tried getting away but the two guys stopped me. Three more rogues entered from the back of the shop. The bald guy hit the frightened shopkeeper on the back of his head and the shopkeeper fell unconscious. I was outnumbered. I managed to kill the two rogues who were initially there in the coffee shop, but at the end they managed to overpower me. The two rogues I killed were comparatively weak. I'm assuming it is because Maddy had managed to get some hits on them. They then dumped me in the van with Maddy who was out like a sack of potatoes and tied my hands. I spent an hour getting bored to death after which Maddy woke up. Maddy told you the rest."

The Alpha pursed his lip. He then turned to Leia.

"You next."

"Well, Maddy gave this really cool birthday gift where there are a pair of watches and when one person touches the watch, the other watch vibrates similarly. So, when the kidnappers grabbed the watch and threw it, my watch started vibrating furiously. I had no idea why the watch was behaving like that, so I went to Maddy's house to check if something had gone wrong. There, I found her watch on the floor and I knew something was up. I called Maddy's mom and told her that I was taking Maddy to a surprise vacation as it was our last birthday together. It took a lot of begging but surprisingly her mom agreed. I quickly tidied up whatever mess the rogues had made in Maddy's house. After taking care of that part, I tried following the scent of the rogues, but after following it for some time, it faded. Not knowing what to do was driving me crazy. I called Jeremy and told him about it. He suggested I come over here and check as the road the rogues took led to California. I was halfway there when I got the call that Alexa too, had been kidnapped. And then I reached California"

The Alpha then looked at Xander and Jeremy.

"What about both of you?"

"Nothing interesting," Xander replied. Even Jeremy shook his head.

The Alpha then continued, "Since I think everyone has spoken, we can come to these conclusions. Firstly, the rogues are working for one man who seems to be the boss. Secondly, we need to warn the Megaclite Pack. Seems like the rogues are targeting the three main packs as the rogues were headed towards the Megaclite Pack's borders. Lastly, we seem to know nothing about the boss of the rogues, who he is, why he is doing this or what is his next plan. This leaves us with one option. We will be calling upon the matefinder. The ritual will take place in another hour. I think we all should prepare ourselves for the worst. Maddy, the safest thing for you would be to stay here."

"I just learnt about the werewolf's existence which is the coolest thing ever. I ain't going anywhere." Maddy said grinning.

"Good," the Alpha said. "I've already talked to Tristan and he will come up with a story for your mother. He also mentioned that you should be trained immediately. We can't have a repetition of this incident."

"Wait a minute," Maddy interrupted. "What training are we talking about?"

"You'll be trained to take on werewolves in both forms."

Maddy groaned but didn't say anything. She knew that the training was important and everything but physical activities were something she never liked. She would much rather read a book quietly in her room.

"The meeting is dismissed," the Alpha announced.

Everyone got up and started to go in their own ways. Having nothing else to do, Maddy quickly caught up with Xander. She had a lot of questions to be answered.
