Chapter 4

Xerses got up and struck her, and the force was so strong that she landed on the ground and groaned in pain.

"Sorry, I will go."

Lana got up and went out, there were duties being assigned, and they tossed her work attire.

She changed and was in so much pain, and went out. She could not believe that they had assigned her to work the fields.

The sun was hot, and no hats. She watched as the other ladies hooved the soil to make holes for the seeds.

Her hands hurt, and she wanted to cry as the ladies kept on yelling at her that she was not doing the correct thing.

"Sorry, I'm new to this."

They laughed at her, and during lunch, she was given some porridge and wanted to throw up as she found an insect in it.

Yet she was desperate so she took it out and ate. The sun set and everything hurt as she walked limping a bit.

It was bath time and the cold water made her all the more depressed. Dinner was served and she ate not talking to anyone.

Lana headed to Xerses room and when she got in, he was there. He looked up at her as she closed the door.

She trembled a bit from fear, "Evening."

"How was work?" He asked

"Good." She squeaked out.

He scoffed, and she went to his bed, climbed on it, she scooted close to the wall to put as much space between them.

Her body ached too much for her to sleep on the chair, and the bed was not what she was used to, but she still appreciated it.

The fire from the furnace made it toasty, the bed was a moderate size but he filled it up as much as he filled the whole room.

She woke up the following morning at the crack if dawn, and she resented Xerses as she watched him sleeping there in peace.

Why should the women be the ones to wake up early and work the whole day? She stood under the sun, and could not bear it.

Sweat trickled down and wiped it away,

"There is Xerses." One of the girls said.

"I want to marry him." The other girl let out.

"I want to entertain him for just a night." The other girl swooned

"I want to be his mistress." They giggled.

Lana rolled her eyes, Xerses was great to look at and he asserted commandment wherever he went, but besides that, his other attributes were not admirable.

He was a vicious murderer and beyond cruel, he did not care about striking women too. Lana did not turn and gush at him.

She hated him so much that she could taste it on her tongue. The day finally finished and after bathing headed for Xerses room.

Lana walked in and was shocked to find Xerses with a lady in his bed, and thankfully the covers saved her eyes from witnessing something indecent.

She closed the door and sat outside until the girl came out and scurried away. She sat for a few more moments so that he could get dressed if he wanted to.
