Well, Hello There

It's been a couple of days since I've started living on this new island. I've got a job at a small-town bar, as a bartender.

Apparently, this island is different that the others, and you don't need to be twenty one to sell alcohol.

The bar was loud, and rowdy, and full of laughter. A group of drunk old men threw slurred, funnily worded compliments my way, and I chuckled along with their raucous laughter as I turned to clean some shot glasses with a rag.

I grew curious when everything grew quiet, and turned around again to see the red head and blonde, along with multiple other threatening men, entering the bar while all the customers watched in stunned fear.

It was so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop. That was the case, anywho, until....

"IT'S THE KID PIRATES!" Someone screamed before they all scrambled out of the bar.

"I-I'm going to have t-to ask you t-to leave..." My boss, a timid, hunched old man said in his elderly voice.

The red head stared coldly at Yodai-san, and I could see the older man's trembling worsen.

I huffed, jumping over the counter top and stomping over to the pirates with a frown. "Don't glare at Yodai-san, Cherry-top!" I snapped, stepping between the red head and Yodai-san.

My outburst made the much larger and more threatening man flinch, triggering my confusion as he looked away.

"Don't look at me like you hate me..." He mumbled, then blushed slightly as his words seemed to strike him. "It's rude," he added.

"Don't tell me what to do," I growled, making him look at me and smirk.

"Calm down, shrimp," he chuckled deeply, causing an irritated blush to flood my cheeks.

"I'M NOT SHORT!" I yelled at him, stomping my foot. "I'm vertically challenged..." I added in a mumbled.

His crew chuckled almost fondly, and I growled, pouting at my shoes.

A large hand landed gently atop my head, and I looked to the masked, blonde man curiously.

"We won't cause you any trouble, we're just here for drinks," he assured, ruffling my hair in an affectionate way.

I rose an eyebrow and pointed at the bare chest of the red haired man. "Won't cause trouble, my ass! He's being a butt-head!"

A deep chuckle bubbled from both men, and I huffed, turning to Yodai-san.

"Yodai-san, you go rest. If they do anything, I'll get rid of them," I promised.

"I-I can't simply leave you with the-"

"Please, Yodai-san, I'll be fine. And you're too sick for all this excitement," I insisted, gently nudging him towards the stairs that led to his room on the second floor.

"I-I suppose...." He muttered unsurely, finally moving on his own. I waited at the bottom of the stairs as he turned slightly to look over his shoulder at his door. I sent a bright, assuring smile and wave, and he disappeared into his room.
I sighed and looked back at the grinning group of pirates, who all, strangely enough, seemed overjoyed to see me.

"So..." I began awkwardly before grinning slightly. "Who's up for a drink?"

They cheered and my smile grew slightly more genuine as I returned to my place behind the counter while they all found seats and began chattering animatedly.

"You here by yourself?"the red head asked casually as he plopped down in the stool directly across from me.

"Yup," I replied, rummaging around under the counter. "Everyone else was on vacation, but since I've got no life other than here- until I regain my memories anyway- then I offered to work. Aha!"

I straightened and fastened the found hand gun to my hip.

"A gun?" the masked man inquired.

"Just in case," I hummed. "Now, who wants what?"

"BEER!" They all shouted simultaneously, and I couldn't help but laugh.

It took me half an hour to run drinks to the whole crew, and by the time I'd gotten done, the first ones I delivered to needed a refill.

"OI! GIVE HER A MINUTE TO BREATHE, YOU IDIOTS!" The red head shouted after about the fifth go-around, a vein appearing on his forehead and neck.

Everyone immediately quietened down, and some even apologized. After assuring them it was alright, I returned behind the counter.

"If you lot want a refill, get off your lazy asses and bring her your mugs!" He continued, a bit quieter now that things had calmed down.

I blinked in surprise at the man. "Er, thanks...umm...."

"Kidd," he supplied immediately.

I fought off a smirk. "Kidd you say?"

A dangerous smirk appeared on his dark lips. "You find my name funny?" He inquired playfully.

"Very," I replied nonchalantly, filling up a mug that was brought to me. "Funny, ironic, and kinda cute."

A blush spread across his cheeks, and I sent a joking wink his way. The blonde chuckled at us.

"Cally-chan! Cally-chan!" Two small, squeaky voices called as a small black haired boy and girl, twins as a matter of fact, ran into the bar- also known as Yodai-san's grandchildren, Ryo and Reia. The two stopped as they noticed all the threatening pirates, and I could see frightened tears fill their wide eyes.

"Ryo, Reia!" I said as I leapt over the counter and hurried to the duo, scooping them into my arms as they buried their faces into each side of my neck.

"These people are scary!" They cried simultaneously. I sighed with a slight smile as I carried them over and set them down on the countertop.

"They aren't scary, look," I said, moving to Kidd- he was the closest to me- and pinched his cheek with one hand, ruffling his hair with the other as the kiddos watched.

Surprisingly, he raised no argument, but sat silently and patiently. I pat his head as I released his cheek and turned back to the kids, who seemed more at ease.

"Who wants some juice and a snack?" I asked. "You two just finished school for today, didn't you?"

"Yeah! Orange juice! Fruit salad! Orange juice! Fruit salad!" They cheered.

I chuckled and nodded, flipping over the counter in a cart-wheel manner because they loved my little tricks.

The two sat Indian style, watching closely as I pulled a bottle of orange juice from under the counter, tossing it and making it spin mid air, and caught the bottle behind my back, grinning as they 'ooh'ed.

I discovered after training here, that I have a special talent for mixing drinks, and while I'm pretty clumsy most of the time, I always seemed to moved with perfect grace and precision when cooking or mixing anything food or drink related. It was based off of this assessment that I guessed that I'm a good cook, or was before I lost my memories.

Anywho, I skillfully poured two drinks and handed the glasses to the kids before grabbing an apple, pear, a jar of cherries, banana, and a couple of kiwis from the same fridge I got the orange juice to.

After peeling the fruit that needed to be peeled, I chopped all but the cherries with skilled movements and threw the diced fruit into a bowl.

"Do the cherry knot! Cherry knot!" They yelled excitedly.

"Alright, alright. Calm down there," I laughed before grabbing a stem of one or the cherries and placing the fruit on my tongue, stem and all. I chewed on the fruit and moments later, stuck my tongue back out to show the knotted stem settled on the muscle. "Tada!"

Stars replaced the youngsters' pupils as they gasped, and I just realized that the pirates had been watching as well.

"How'd you do that?" Kidd demanded.

I plucked the knot from my tongue and threw it in the trashcan under the counter before starting to de-seed, de-stem, and half the cherries.

"Magic," I answered with a sly grin, dumping the handful of cherries into the bowl with the rest of the fruit. I drizzled some of the orange juice over the fruit salad and tossed it in the bowl before grabbing two forks and handing them to the excited kids, who dug in immediately.

"Yummy! Thanks, Cally-chan!" They cheered.

>Kidd POV<

"You're very welcome, Little Ones," Calamity smiled warmly.

"Captain," Killer muttered while the plum eyed girl wasn't paying attention. "Does she look... Happier to you?"

I frowned slightly. "Yeah..."

Who couldn't see it, the radiance of that beautiful smile?

Perhaps... She was better suited here?
