Chapter 40: Special Day
(I'm so sorry that this was delayed, I don't really know how weddings work and I haven't had much food for a week but hey! Not important, hope you enjoy! :D)
<April 25th>
"You seem happy, Roman." Romulus says, adjusting the collar on Roman's shirt. "How could I not be?" Roman responds, smiling to himself. "I suppose you have a point."
"Oh, father, I'm not sure I'm ready- I mean, I can only imagine he's going to look amazing, it might kill me-" Roman says, blushing a little and smiling more. Romulus chuckles softly. "If you ask me, nobody is ever truly prepared for marriage." he says, attaching the cape to Roman's outfit.
"How old were you when you married, father?" Roman asks, after a bit of silence. Romulus smiles a little. "Not much older than you. I was 238 years old." he says, putting the gloves on Roman's hands.
"By the way.. How has Virgil been doing? Mentally, I mean." Romulus asks. "It's a working progress.. But he is improving." Roman tells him.
"Good, then."
~~~
"Ow, that hurts-" Virgil says. "Nobody ever said fancy was painless, emo." Remus says, helping Virgil with his top. "Why exactly did you volunteer to help me get ready, Remus..?" Virgil asks curiously.
"Welllll.. You are about to become my brother by marriage. And you're kinda neat, Virgil." Remus says. "Heh, sweet.." Virgil mumbles.
"Not gonna lie, black does look good on you. Though, I wear it better." Remus says. Virgil scoffs, smiling. "You wish." he says, sighing deeply with a bashful smile. "Someone's getting nervous." Remus teased.
"Eheh, I'm not nervous." Virgil says, looking at him. Remus looks up at him. "First off, that's a lie, second, if you weren't, even I'd think you're weird."
"How am I nervous?" Virgil asks, pulling his shirt down a little. "Sweating, heartbeat, blushing- you're nervous, emo." Remus says, standing upright.
Virgil looks down at his outfit, smiling. "Heh, you know.. I think I could get used to this." he says. "Look at you! Come on, time for hair and stuff-" Lily says, grabbing Virgil's hand.
"Woah- Jesus, Lily-" Virgil says. "Sit." Lily says, pushing him down onto the chair. "You're more excited than I am jeez-" Virgil says, sitting down.
"I've known you since we were 6 and 7 years old, Vee, and now you're gonna marry a prince-" Lily squeals, making Virgil flinch. "It's like a fairy tale!!"
Virgil chuckles as Lily does his hair. "You know you'll technically be a princess, right?" he says, Lily stopping in her tracks for a second. "Oh my god, you're right-"
"Eheheh.. Did you ever see this? I didn't. I mean, who would've known that we'd end up in a royal family?" Virgil says. Lily shrugs a little and continues doing Virgil's hair. "Fate? A god or gods?"
Virgil scoffed very softly. "If a god or multiple do exsist, they're dicks, and fate.. Well, maybe. The one night I ran away from my parents, I met someone who changed my life forever. So.. Maybe fate is real, maybe I'm giving myself hope. Either way, things turned out."
Lily smiles. "There's the Virgil I like to see."
~~~
Both Roman and Virgil could have metaphorically died when they saw each other as Virgil walked up to Roman.
"Oh.. You look amazing, my love.." Roman whispered, smiling at him. Virgil blushes and smiles back. "Says the prince." he whispered back. Roman smiles more, holding his hands.
After they exchanged vows and kissed, Remus turned to his father with a smirk. "You think they're gonna consummate the marriage?"
Romulus looks at him and sighs. "That's for them to know, Remus." he says. Remus gave him an egging look. Romulus looks at him again and started smiling a little. "They can't keep their hands off each other, of course they're going to."
Remus chuckled quietly. "And Roman calls me the sex addict." Roman scoffs, smiling. "To be fair, the only person Roman lays with is his mate."
Remus shrugs. "Look, no Alpha's marked me, yet. I'm gonna fuck whoever I want to." Romulus glanced at him, smirking a little. "Janice will mark you."
Remus blushed a little, staying quiet after that.
"So.. What should I call your dad now?" Virgil asks, walking to the ballroom with Roman, everyone else following. Roman hums. "Well, what do you want to call my father?" he asks.
"I dunno, like, should I call him his name? Should I call him dad? I-" Virgil says. Roman chuckles softly. "That choice is yours to make, my love." he says, holding his hand out.
Virgil tilts his head a little, Roman smiling at his confusion. "Married couple gets the first dance, love." Roman says. Virgil blushes. "Roman, I can't dance." he whispered, looking at him.
Roman chuckles quietly. "Just trust me." he whispered back, Virgil slowly taking his hand. Roman smiles, leading the dance as the music starts.
"He looks so grown up dressed like that.. Feels like only yesterday we were children.." Lily says. Patton smiles. "Awe, kiddo. He does look happy, though. He fell in love with the prince before he even knew it, and now they're married.. It's so adorable." he says.
"Not to mention you, Lily. You say Virgil looks grown up, but you look like a lady, too. You're not a little girl anymore, kiddo." Patton continued. Lily smiles bashfully. "You call everyone ‘kiddo’?"
Patton smiles and shrugs. "It's a habit. I took care of orphaned children before I came here." Lily looks at him. "What happened to them?"
"I waited until they grew old enough to fend for themselves, don't worry. I'd never abandon a child." Patton says. Lily smiles, looking back to Virgil and Roman.
"They do seem happy together, don't they?" she says. Patton nods. "Almost looks like they were made for each other, doesn't it?" he says.
"Yeah," Lily responds as Roman dips and kisses Virgil. "I think they were."
