Chapter 17: Teach Me

"You look like you have something to say, dearest." Roman says, looking at Virgil. It had been a week since Virgil's little breakdown. Though, right now, Roman seemed a little tired.

"Can you teach me how to use a sword?" Virgil asks. Roman was a little surprised by this. "You- you want to know how to sword fight?" Virgil nods in response. "W-well- okay, yeah sure. But you'll be starting with a wooden sword; I wouldn't want you getting hurt." Roman says.

"I've been cut by blades plenty times, Roman, I'll be fine." Virgil says, as though it was the most casual thing to say. Roman gave a look between concerned and nervous. "That's exactly why you'd start with a wooden sword." he says, taking Virgil's hand and walking to the practice room.

"Alright, so first off, you have to know how to stand. Separate your feet to the width of your shoulders and place your weight on the balls of your feet. Pressure on the heels provides less balance and will hurt over time." Roman says.
"Wow, that's a lot- okay." Virgil did what Roman said, looking down at his feet to get it right. "Good, now, take a step forward and bend a little."  Roman tells him.

"What?" Virgil asks. Roman chuckles a little. "Like this." he says, showing Virgil the stance. Virgil copied him, frowning in concentration. "Turn the foot in the back slightly, it makes it more comfortable and is the proper stance." Roman says.
Virgil groans a little. "This is so much harder than I thought.." he mumbles, adjusting his stance. Roman smiles softly. "As is anything that seems interesting. Now, to step forward, push up with your back foot, lift with your front foot and move forward."

Virgil looked confused but tried anyway, moving forward. "Try to keep from leaning forward with your body, and just move with your feet." Roman tells him. "It's not easy..!" Virgil complained, trying again.
Roman smiles in sympathy. "Believe me, I know. But you're getting it. Now, pretty much the same process for stepping backward, except push up with your front foot and step with your back foot."

"This feels stupid." Virgil mumbled. "Oh, yes. I know. I've been there. But these are things you have to know if you want to fight with a sword, my love." Roman says as Virgil stepped back like Roman instructed.
"Okay, do a few forward and backs just to get the hang of it." Roman says. Virgil groans. "But I feel stupid-" he says. Roman scoffs a gentle laugh. "It doesn't make you look stupid. It feels awkward because you're just starting. Besides, it's just me out here, you're fine."

Virgil huffs quietly but does what Roman said, practicing moving forward, then back. "Good, it looks like you're getting the hang of it. Do you wanna learn one more thing or be done for the day?" Roman asks.
"Ummm... One more thing I guess." Virgil says. "Alright, now that you have those steps down, time to learn passing steps. A passing step is when you actually take a full step forward, moving your back foot to the front." Roman says.

"Okayyy..? How?" Virgil asks. "Step forward with your back foot, but keep your shoulders and head level. Your upper body should not move during a passing step." Roman tells him.
Virgil attempted to do so, not quite getting it. "Here, I'm going to put my hands on your shoulders. Try to keep them level; you'll know by how much pressure is on them. I won't hurt you, don't worry." Roman says, holding Virgil's shoulders.

"I-i know you wouldn't." Virgil mumbled, blushing a little as he retries the step. "Think about it as moving your body forward rather than up, like gliding, almost." Roman says quietly, keeping Virgil level as he steps.
"D-did I do it?" he asks. Roman nods. "Mhm, that was much better love. Though you seem a bit flustered~" Virgil blushes more. "A-and why's that?"

"You're blushing, stuttering, and your heart is beating quicker. You're flustered~" Roman purred, smirking a little and picking him up.
Virgil clings to him, resting his head on Roman's shoulder. "Can we go back upstairs now..? I wanna cuddle.." he mumbled, blushing a bit. Roman smiles and nods. "Of course." he says, taking Virgil upstairs to his room.

"Hey... Are you okay..?" Virgil asks. Roman looks at him, tilting his head a little. "I'm alright, love. Why?" he asks. "W-well.. You haven't eaten all day and you look a little tired..." Virgil says as Roman set him on the bed.
"I.. I'm alright. A bit under the weather, but.. Nothing too serious." Roman says. "You're-.. You don't feel good?" Virgil asks softly, frowning a little.

"It's alright, my love, don't worry. Sicknesses can't kill me, remember? I'll be alright." Roman says, laying down next to Virgil. "Maybe you should.. Sleep..." Virgil tells him.
"N-no, because then-" Roman starts. Virgil put his finger to Roman's mouth, frowning in concern. "Please... If your body is telling you to sleep, as a being who otherwise wouldn't need to, you should listen to it.. Besides, resting helps you get better sooner.."

Roman couldn't help but smile softly. "If you're that concerned about me, love, I will. But.. Should you need something and I'm not awake, you can leave the room. I'll be okay." Virgil nods a little and kisses Roman's forehead. "I love you." he mumbles

"I love you too, dearest.." Roman says back before closing his eyes. Virgil smiles and stayed close to him for a while until he got hungry. He carefully got out of bed and went downstairs to grab some food.
"Yo emo. Where's your Prince Charming? Aka my brother." Remus said, sitting on the counter. "Roman? He's.. Sleeping." Virgil says, making himself a sandwich.

"Psh, nice try, but vampires don't sleep." Remus said, rolling his eyes. "Yes they do, if they need to." Virgil mumbles. "Thought you'd know that, your highness." he added sarcastically.
"First off, fuck you and your attitude, secondly, the only times we would need to would be injuries or sicknesses, and you're not about to tell my that my brother, the alpha of us, is sick." Remus said.

"... You mean you're not an alpha vampire-? Okay, um, anyways, yes he is. He is sick." Virgil says, eating his sandwich. "Of course I'm not an alpha, why else would my brother be heir? Also how do you know he's sick?" Remus asks.

"He was tired, he's sleeping, he didn't eat all day; even for a human, those are symptoms of a sickness." Virgil tells him. "... Damn. He almost never gets sick, last time he was sick was when he was 91 years old. But if he's asleep, he should be better by tomorrow. Though, you're human, so if you catch whatever he has, it'll be... More obvious." Remus says, hopping off the counter.

"I don't care if I get sick, I'm staying with him." Virgil says as he finished the sandwich. "Mmm... But that'll cause a problem in his feeding schedule. Because if you're sick, he can't feed on you, otherwise he'll get sick again." Remus says, looking at him.
"Uh..." Virgil couldn't think of anything to say to that. "So either he feeds on the other humans here until you recover, or he doesn't eat." Remus says, though a bit hesitant on the second thing.

"... I don't get sick very often, because I have antibodies, but.. If in the future I ever do, he can use the others, I won't mind.. I'd rather him eat than not." Virgil says.
"Okay. Can't blame you, I'd want that too." Remus says. "Wh-?" Virgil starts. "What? I'm not a complete asshole, I've lost enough family. I do still love my brother, Virgil." Remus interrupted, almost frowning slightly.

"R-right.. S-sorry.. I-I'll go.." Virgil mumbles, walking back upstairs to lay beside Roman.
