Chapter 1
I wake up in the middle of my alarm clock going off. "Get your butt up, Nico! Your alarm has been going off for the past 20 minutes!" yells my little sister, Hazel. "Ughhhhhh. Why didn't you turn it off then!" I holler back, while getting up. "Because I don't if your decent!" "My gods, HAZEL!!"
I groan as I roll off my bed and onto the floor. The cold, hard, barren floor. I'm up now, I think grumpily to myself. I grab my clothes off the chair next to my bed and stumble my way into the bathroom, still partly blind. I wait at least 10 minutes waiting for the water to heat up, and during that time I start my shower playlist. Which consists of
1. Teenagers by MCR
2. Sincerely, Me by DEH
3. You'll be found by DEH again
4 (and many other numbers). The Hamilton soundtrack by (you guessed it) Hamilton!
As you can tell by choice of song, I hate teenagers minus Hazel and Piper. Reasons why I hate school: the children. Everyone apparently, but me, has color in their life. Even Hazel, and she's 13!!! Anyway, because I don't see any color the children enjoy picking on me. Now, normally this wouldn't bother me because, why in Tartarus should I care? My soulmate's dead. Unless... Nope never mind. He's dead.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I'm gay. But no one needs to know that. Especially if I don't appear it.
I jump out of the shower as soon as the music for Lauren's Interlude starts playing because I don't feel like crying early in the morning. Unexpectedly, Cabinet Battle #1 comes on, so of course, I'm singing to my black heart's content. That is until my 30-minute alarm comes on. "Schist I'm gonna be late!" Hurriedly, I finish brushing my teeth and slide down the banister telling Hazel I'm ready and leaving now.
She slings her backpack up. "Finally." "Oh shut up," is my brilliant reply.
By the time we make it outside the bus is already pulling out causing us to have to run faster. Meaning because of my luck I fall face first into a huge puddle... IT DIDN'T EVEN RAIN LAST NIGHT, HOW?!?! Either way now I'm soaking wet and of course Hazel didn't fall. Oh, and you're probably wondering why we didn't say goodbye to our parents.
Easy answer. I don't-- We don't have any. See, my mother and biological sister died when lightning struck the hotel we were staying at. Amazhangly, I didn't die along with them. Though sometimes I wish I did. Anyway, Hazel's biological mother died in a cavern when Hazel was six. She was placed in the foster care system until they found out her father is still living. Now my father was very... distant when Bianca and my mother died. Shortly after their deaths, we moved all the way from Italy to America. I hated it. But this isn't about me right now this is about my father, Hades di Angelo. After we moved, he met this woman, Marie Levesque, or sometimes Queen Marie, in New Orleans when he left for a business trip. Long story short, he knocked up Queen Marie and had to leave before he found out he had a daughter named Hazel.
I know, he sounds like a horrible father. In truth, he's not that bad. Besides, it's not like he wanted to leave Marie before he could find out, it's just... he had too? I mean think about it this way: pros-- he brought Hazel home when he could've left her since he didn't know her. He gives us money for school, food, clothes, stuff like that. He even pays the bills. Cons-- he's not around much. The only time we hear from him is when he's coming back- twice a year at most- or when it's our birthdays once again, by phone calls. Though he does "send us gifts" but I know it's really his secretary who's really sending us the gifts, she's not very good at faking signatures. Hazel doesn't know though.
We pull up at the hellhole. Oops, I meant school. We pull up at school. As I step off the gray, but supposedly yellow, school bus I take a deep breath and prepare my self for the day... and another beating more than likely.
